5 creative ways with wallpaper

September 15, 2014

I love wallpaper.  It’s such a great way to brighten up a kids room or any room in your home especially if you want to change the look of the room without too much effort.  But wallpaper doesn’t always have to mean pasting it to a whole wall or the entire room; instead you can be as creative with it as you like.  You can make a feature wall, a focal point to highlight a part of the room or use it to create separate area’s within a room.  There are lots of fun and imaginative ways to use wallpaper in a kids room.  Here are 5 ways that make quite an impact:

"wallpaper for a kids room"

Use different shades of the same wallpaper
This is a big room with lots of different areas and lots of furniture.  In this kids room using the same wallpaper in different shades really helps to bring the room together and make it feel like one space.  Also, by using the wallpaper sparingly it doesn’t take away from the bright, white feel of the room but instead the wallpaper draws your eye to certain areas especially the two panels at the end of the room.

"colourful kids room ideas"

Use two (almost) clashing wallpapers
For a very bold and colourful look you can use two very different wallpapers like in the room above.  This room is all about colour and there’s no holding back here.  But it does work because the colours work together and while the wallpapers are completely different in design, by sticking to various shades of mainly purple and pink, the room comes together really well.

Create shapes with wallpaper
This is such an simple yet clever idea.  This house shape created using vintage wallpaper adds a really cute space to this child’s room and helps to create a focal point to the room.  The shape you create can be anything from animals to trees but I’m really loving this easy to do house idea.

"ways to use wallpaper samples"

Use up those wallpaper samples
Line shelves with wallpaper samples and immediately add a burst of colour to a kids room.  These shelves above look great and it really doesn’t matter how different the wallpapers are in colour or pattern.  You could also use the samples to cover just about any small-ish pieces of furniture that needs a new lease of life.

"ideas for using wallpaper as wall art"

Use wallpaper instead of wall art
Using wallpaper as wall art is a fantastic and inexpensive way to decorate your walls especially if you have wallpaper left over from another project.  You don’t need to stick to one panel as in the room above but you can have three or more panels that work together or are spread out in the room.  Also it’s easy to replace when you want to update the look or go for a change.

Love these choices, the delicate, the bold and the nostalgic-I adore wallpaper too but don’t have any in the new house sadly. Mum used it a lot and really adds something special. Another gorgeous post from one of my favourite bloggers x
