A natural nursery…

October 16, 2013

"natural nursery decor ideas"Lately I’ve been coming across many Scandinavian homes decorated with lots of natural wood.   The look is clean and minimal but still very warm.  So I started thinking about using natural wood with natural colours and fabrics for decorating a baby nursery.   It’s ideal for boy or girl so if you don’t know what you’re having, you can still go ahead and decorate without compromising.  And since the wood is bare, you can even make some of the furniture yourself,  like storage shelves and simple tables.  And the best part is that it’s not a look your child will outgrow in a hurry.  Here are a few things I picked out that would work well in a natural nursery:

1. bear print…  2. toy shelf…  3. elephant soft toy…  4. pale spotted duvet set…  5.  luminous linen star light…  6. caravan crib in natural.

P.S. Have you entered this great giveaway to win a very stylish natural baby carrier

"gray nursery decor ideas"I love grey.  As I’m getting older I think I’m loving it more and more not only as a colour to wear but also as a colour to decorate with.  I’m especially loving it for a nursery because I find the colour quite calming.  And besides you can add hints of practically any other colour and it will work with grey.  So when I saw this delightful new Elephant crib by Oeuf NYC I thought it would be fun to put together a few things to go with it.  The Elephant crib is Oeuf’s latest offering and it really does resemble an elephant, don’t you think?  I love the playful design as well as the rounded edges and the whole modern vibe.  Here are my picks for a modern grey nursery:

1.  Plum & pink hearts garland…  2. Mary Poppins poster…  3. Grey sheep duvet set…  4. Knitted sheep soft toy…  5. Elephant crib…  6. Hanging pendant lights

A modern crib…

"walnut baby cot crib"Oeuf NYC is a firm favourite on this blog and I’ve been meaning to share their latest cot offering – The Rhea Crib.  I loved it when I saw it especially in the darker walnut colour.  It’s modern style, clean lines and dark splendour got me at first sight.

"sustainable wooden nursery furniture"While admiring the Rhea crib I also came across Oeuf’s new Spring/Summer 2013 campaign which shows lots of fun and colourful nurseries and kids rooms.  I’m completely loving their choice of wallpapers especially the black floral one which is so impactful.  And that neon dotted wall is another lovely touch.  I love finding and sharing cool kids rooms and Oeuf’s new catalogue is full of playful and pretty ideas.

"handmade baby crib"

I was browsing Room to Bloom (a cool interiors site for kids rooms) when a crib caught my eye.  I dug further and and when I saw all these gorgeous cots, I was smitten.  Every cot is handcrafted in Spain by a family who conceive, design and then make each one.  They haven’t even opened their shop doors yet but by the looks of things to come, I am already a big fan.  These cots are so simple yet so striking and unusual.  I love the idea of the spider netting which was inspired by the thought of facing your fears.  Called the PEPE crib, I’m also loving the teal and orange colour combo.

"handmade spanish crib"

This one is called the THEO crib and it has bags of rustic charm.  I can picture this crib feeling at home in any setting from modern to vintage.

"circus themed baby crib"

This is the CIRKUS crib which is still a work in progress.  They plan to paint it red and white and I can’t wait to see the finished article.  In addition to cribs, this Spanish family will also be offering other kids furniture like a pretty butterfly adorned screen but that’s all they’ve revealed so far.  Their collection is called xo-in my room and I just can’t wait till they launch their store to see everything on offer.

"moon shaped crib"

I’m loving this fabulous and French moon shaped crib by Creme Anglaise.  I love that it’s made of natural wood and the star shaped cutouts are a fantastic little touch.  There’s almost a magical quality to this crib and it’s certainly very unusual too.  Any baby who gets to sleep in one of these will be one lucky babe!  To find out more and see more pictures visit Creme Anglaise where you can contact them for more information too.

If you like a cot with a difference have a look at this lovely French vintage cot too.
