"wooden toy puppet set"colourful elephant mobile nurserywooden stars stacking game

Today it’s a colourful start to the week with these beautiful wooden toys and decorations.  For me, the simplest toys are always the best.  They allow a child to use their imagination and what is better than that?  These toys which include stacking stars and wooden puppets are not only beautiful to look at but are just the kind of toys that encourage all kinds of pretend play.  And then there are the sweet decorations including that colourful elephant garland.  These wooden decorations and toys are the creation of New York based designer Laura Rodriguez who wanted to make designs that were playful and simple and that appealed to the whole family.  Laura’s creations called Luez designs are meant to bring a smile to your face and a bit of cheer to any room in your home which is exactly what they do.

pink and grey nursery decor

When you think of a baby nursery, you probably think of colours like white, yellow, powder blue or pink.  The one colour that probably doesn’t come straight to mind is grey and yet it’s such a fantastic colour for a nursery.  It can be mixed in with any other soft colour to create a calming atmosphere.  My favourite colour combo right now is dusty pink and lightish grey.  I can’t seem to move away from these two colours together so I thought I would go looking for some pink and grey nursery decor ideas and here’s what I found.  I’m especially loving that three little pigs mobile – so cute!

1. fox print | 2. animal wall hooks | 3. piggy mobile | 4. knitted wool blankets | 5. star cushions | 7. house shelves

"gold nursery decor ideas"I think I have a bit of an obsession with the colour gold.  I love wearing gold jewellery and having gold accents in my home.  It’s a colour that’s rich and warm and works best when used sparingly.  I particularly love that there are so many different tones and shades to gold so you can chose to bling it up or tone it down.  It’s not a colour you would immediately associate with a nursery or toddler’s room but I love the idea of adding gold accessories and accents in a kids space especially when paired with lots of white.  I went looking for some gold nursery decorations and here’s what I loved:

1. Black and gold cloud mobile…  2. Mexican inspired Concha chair…  3. Mr Mustache print…  4. Straw storage baskets with gold sequins…  5. Toadstool night light from smallable.com…  6. Set of raindrop cushions…  7.  Organic stars duvet set.

"pink and grey kids room ideas"I’m always dreaming of re-decorating every room in the house.  Today I’m loving pink and grey for my daughters room.  Grey isn’t the most obvious choice for a kids room but with a dash of pink I think it works so well.  Personally, I’d even go for just grey with lots of white but today I wanted to add a bit of pink to the mix.  This kind of colour scheme and decor also really appeals to my minimalist side.  When i started putting this board together I knew I would like the end result but I didn’t realise quite how much this colour scheme would appeal to me.  Hope you like it too…

1.  Harlequin wallpaper… 2.  Knitted flag garland… 3.  Circus print… 4. 3D Olephants mobile… 5.  Soft pink lacquered chair… 6. Beauty baby doll… 7.  Sonny angel doll… 8.  Floral print beanbag…  9.  Starry cloud cushion

"hand made finger puppets"How cute are these guys?  I don’t normally get excited about finger puppets but I couldn’t help falling for these ones.  Made by Ayelet from Israel, it feels like she has taken all that is cute and lovable about these animals and brought it to life in her creations.  And the extra little touch of the knitted hoodies just adds to their cuteness.  You’ll find kangaroos, squirrels, pandas and camels in her collection which also includes mobiles and display boxes in addition to finger puppets.  They’re all handmade from 100% wool and can be bought individually or in sets, but for me it’s the affectionate little pairs that are the sweetest.  I found out about Lazy Animals a while ago when I received an email and I have been meaning to share ever since as they’re just too adorable to miss!

Pretty pastels…

"pastel coloured furniture"

I’m sure my heart stopped for a second when I fell upon the exquisite store and goodies of Mimmi Staaf, a designer and upholsterer from Stockholm.  The first thing I saw was a sea of pastels which were at once soft yet striking… lots of furniture in pale blues, purples and pinks that are oh so pleasing to the eye and would be fit for mama or baby.

"elephant stool, origami mobile"

On digging further I found that Mimmi re-styles and restores old furniture which she sells along with other delectable pieces for the home and for kids.  Take this little elephant stool or that origami mobile; both are beautiful pieces with lots of charm and style.   That’s what you can expect to find across Mimmi’s store and I also love that practically all her offerings will appeal to any age.

"crochet baby blankets"

Mimmi also makes some stunning crochet pieces including baby blankets, bedspreads and stool covers.  The way in which she is able to combine colours and bring pieces to life is nothing short of exquisite.  Mimmi’s store is dripping with style and the only bit of bad news is that she doesn’t yet sell online but from what I could decipher (through google translate) I think she might start soon.  In the meantime visit her site Mimmi Staaf or head to Stockholm and visit the store… I know I want to.

"merry go round kids mobile"I’m a sucker for mobiles and not just for babies.  I would have them hanging all over my home if the husband let me!  But since he doesn’t, I’m left to admire from afar and these black and white silhouette mobiles are definitely ones to be admired.  I chanced upon them and and fell completely in love.  These mobiles are so simple yet so stunning, so eye-catching.

"bird baby mobile"

Designed by Helene, an American lady with Japanese ancestry, you can see the Japanese influences coming through in the simplicity of design.  I love the silhouette style and I can just picture the animals and birds dancing and moving as they hang above a baby cot or in a play space.  There are quite a few on offer and they all come in black or ivory.  My favourite is the merry go round mobile pictured at the top… I love the animal shapes and the choice of animals featured.  To see these and the rest, head to Helen’s online store called Ige Design.

"mouse mobile for babies"

A while ago I shared some whimsical mouse mobiles with you which proved to be a popular find.  Those mouse mobiles were the creation of Laurence Bonnet, a French lady with a penchant for making delicate little treasures that are oh so beautiful.  Today I’m lusting after her newest hand made creations which include these adorable pajama clad mice that come complete with a little wire frame bed and can be suspended from the ceiling… perfect little eye candy above a cot or toddler bed.  These sleeping mouse mobiles are a limited edition creation where each piece is unique and numbered.

hand made soft toy bears"

All of Laurence’s mobiles and soft toys are hand made with the greatest attention to detail and lots and lots of imagination.  Another of her new creations are these cuddly and cool looking bears.  I love the whole father son thing and I love how cool and collected papa bear looks with his scarf, top hat and suspenders ensemble.  Laurence sells her creations under the Rose Miniscule name and that’s where you’ll find all these gorgeous little treasures.

Chevrons seem to be all over at the moment and I’m loving it.  Simple graphic patterns like stripes and chevrons work so well across nearly anything and best of all they look so stylish in an understated way… the best way according to me.  I’ve picked out some sunny yellow and black chevron adorned goodies for both mama’s and babies:

"yellow and black chevron dress, art, mobile"

1. Love this gorgeous black and white chevron print maxi dress by the ever stylish Anthropologie and you could even wear it when pregnant.  2.  A sweet airplane baby mobile in yellow and teal by Cactus & Olive.  3.  Simple and stylish bird prints for a nursery or an adult space by Tessyla.

"chevron baby blanket, dress, plush"

4.  A super modern and super sophisticated black and white baby blanket by Handmade by Paisley.  5.  A yellow and white pinafore style dress that is perfect for spring by Sewn Natural.  6.  A very cute chevron print elephant soft toy with big flappy ears by Lil Kingdom.

"animal shaped wooden baby mobiles"

I was browsing the lovely online store Fawn & Forest when these animal shaped mobiles caught my eye.  I have a thing for beautiful baby mobiles so when I saw these, it was love!  They’re made of untreated laser cut birch wood and come in a range of utterly cute animal shapes.  I’m loving the lion one and there’s also an elephant one that I’m pretty keen on.  Made by The Modern Baby Company, these baby mobiles are simple, stylish and modern.  I like them for a nursery but they’d also look cool in an older kids space.  Head to Fawn & Forest where you’ll find these lovelies!
