I dig denim!

Do you have a momform? By that I mean a mom uniform! I certainly do. For the school run at least I think I am almost always in skinny jeans and a tee/top in Summer paired with ballet pumps and in Winter it’s back to those skinnies but with boots and chunky knits. I love my denim but I seem to stick to jeans only and I’ve kind of fallen in to the same trap when it comes to Anya. The only denim in her wardrobe is a pair of skinny jeans. But there are so many more denim styles out there to love for women and especially for kids – from denim dungarees to skirts and even denim dresses. This Summer I want to get out of our jean rut and explore other denim styles. To start with I went looking for some cute denim looks for babies kids and I found some gorgeous stuff.

How cute are those denim cat dungarees? Or for older kids I’m loving that faded vintage denim dungaree. Denim is so comfy and easy to wear and it goes with anything and everything so even if the kids insist on choosing their clothes, they can’t go wrong. And those frilly little denim bloomers – so adorable! The best news of all is that a lot of these clothes are on sale at the moment and as denim can be worn year round, you don’t have to worry about the seasons changing. Have you seen any fab denim clothes for kids and or women? I’m looking for a light denim jumpsuit kind of like that kids mechanic style one pictured at the top – so cool, no? Something fishy!

A quick shop update today as there some adorable new pieces that have landed on my doorstep. First up is this fish sweatshirt. In a dark navy with a mustard fish printed on the front, this sweatshirt is such a cute piece for either boy or girl. It’s versatile enough to wear with jeans, skirts or even with our very own blue bloomer shorts.

These leggings have got to be the cutest I’ve seen with those three little ants crawling over them! In a dark beige, these ant leggings will go with anything. Visit the shop for a more detailed view and to see the little ants up close.

Last but not least are these bold graphic chain printed leggings. On a white background, the black print really stands out and is so eye-catching. If you’re in to mixing patterns like me, wear a bold printed top with these. I love these with our feather print tunics.

These pieces, like many of the pieces in our shop are ideal for mixing and matching probably with what you already have in your wardrobe. I love kids wearing clashing colours, mixed patterns, bold prints and generally breaking all the rules. Because that’s when fashion gets fun!

Spies, mysteries and top secret missions!

Do you remember Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys? I was a big fan of the Nancy Drew books and I remember my brother being crazy about The Hardy Boys. I loved the spirit of adventure and what (at the time) seemed to be the most exciting mysteries ever. I think I even wanted to be her at one stage! Now, decades later this new Fall/Winter collection inspired by the whole Nancy Drew era has me smitten.

Looking at this collection, you can’t help but think spies and mysteries, detectives and top-secret missions from a by-gone era. How fun is that for any little kid? With a strong retro vibe and beautiful Autumnal colours, this latest collection is so playful and charming. I love everyday clothes like these that allow children to pretend play and transport themselves in to their very own make believe world.

Inspired by their daughters obsession with spies and mysteries, this husband and wife team created this newest collection. I’m a big fan of Misha Lulu already but this latest collection is my favourite!

We’re going on a Moon Safari

Are you a little wild at heart? Do you like something a bit out of the ordinary? Then this ‘Moonsafari’ collection is for you. You’ll find camouflage prints, warrior stripes, wing like ruffles and bubble skirts in colours that reflect the wilder side of nature. Kids on the Moons latest Spring Summer 2014 collection is so striking. I love how they’ve got a real sense of wildness and adventure in the collection but it doesn’t take over the clothes.

Dressing up and pretending is one of the great joys of childhood. In our home this is an everyday thing and I am all for it. This collection re-inforces that spirit of adventure and fantasy that all kids have. Some of my favourites include those cool grey bubble shorts and that vest with the camouflage ruffles that is girly with a hint of edginess.

This new Spring Summer collection by Kids on the Moon is special – it’s different without being over the top. And most importantly it’s very comfy for kids to wear and children can be children in these clothes. What’s not to love?

Crazy cuteness from Korea…

Even though I’m normally more of a minimalist, sometimes I come across colourful cuteness that I find hard to resist. When I saw the offerings from Juju Bunny shop it was instant love. The clothes are from Korea and are quirky, unusual and seriously cute. There are lots of bold patterns, bright colours, fluffly ears and so much more. It’s all a bit over the top but it works.

Right from their accessories to their pyjama sets, there is bags of character and sweetness in every piece. Take that floral print sleep suit – while the print is delightful, it’s that unexpected big, fluffy pompom that makes it for me. Then there are the cutest bunny hats and accessories like that snowman backpack. Juju Bunny Shop has some seriously cute and different stuff which will look totally adorable on any kid.

If you’re anything like me, dressing your kids in (mini) high style is important but so is comfort. However beautiful a piece of clothing may be, if it’s impractical it just won’t cut it. Clothes that deliver big on both comfort and style always get my vote and Mabo Kids do just that. Designed and made in USA, Mabo is a small clothier whose collections are made in small quantities. Each and every piece is not only gorgeous but infinitely wearable and that’s not something that can be said about too many collections out there.

There’s so much I love about these clothes. All made of cotton or linen, the colours are so elegant and stylish. The linen pieces come in the most gorgeous dusty rose and a slightly faded indigo blue. The petal linen skirt is one of my favourite pieces… it’s so cute and girly with the gentle scalloped edge and subtle tie detail. The simple linen boat neck dress is another winner and can easily be dressed up or down. And then there are the ever so sweet gingham pieces to drool over too. Mabo Kids don’t have a big collection but what they do have is pure class, style and comfort.

A London favourite…

Olympic fever has hit and the world is watching London. Living here it’s impossible not to get excited about these magnificent games and I can’t wait for them to start. Since its going to be all about London for the next few weeks, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to share one of my favourite London based kids clothing brands – Miller London. Born in 2010, Miller is all about everyday luxury for kids. The pieces are very wearable and practical yet super chic. The classic silhouettes are teamed with bold colours and pretty prints to create clothes that are contemporary and stylish. Nearly all the pieces can easily be mixed and matched with anything in your kids wardrobe. Pale Cloud: Soft, feminine and so chic

Last year Pale Cloud launched their first ever collection and what a collection it was. I’ve been eagerly awaiting their Spring/Summer 2012 collection which is here and it easily surpasses my high expectations. Pale Cloud is the creation of a Norwegian mama called Marion who’s had a penchant for fashion from a very young age. I love her little story where she explains that as a small girl she figured out if she got up early enough she could pick her own clothes before the adults could pick them for her. How sweet is that!

With the new collection, Marion has maintained the soft femininity that underlined the previous collection. What I love about her style is that it’s girly and feminine without any fuss. There are dresses, tops, shorts and jackets, mostly in soft, pale colours that I think any little girl would look super chic in. From my own experience, I bought my 3 year old a dress from the Autumn/Winter 2011 range and she never wants to take it off. If I let her, she would wear it every single day and I can’t really blame her because the compliments do keep flowing. Pale Cloud is a brand not to be missed so check out their collection and don’t be surprised if you want everything. One of a kind: Nixie Clothing

The beautiful Nixie Clothing came to my attention last year and I’ve been meaning to share it ever since then. Nixie Clothing is a London based clothing brand for girls that uses only vintage and sustainable fabrics in the creation of their clothes. The materials are sourced locally and all the clothes are made in London. Nixie Clothing says their aim ‘is to respect and protect the environment, to be sustainable… to reduce re-use and recyle in all aspects of their business’.

The clothes are quirky and very unique. In the Spring /Summer 2012 collection you’ll find lots of dresses, tops and shorts made out of gorgeous vintage silk scarves and coats made from vintage cotton. Most of the pieces are one-off’s making them even more special. I love the cuts and designs on offer that combine vintage styles with modern twists and also combine contrasting prints and fabrics. Nixie clothing is definitely a one of a kind brand and everything about their creations is beautiful and original.
