I chanced upon Kristiana Parn’s art on Etsy and I was smitten. I don’t think it’s difficult to see why. Charming and fanciful, her work is very unique. Born and raised in Estonia, Kristiana now creates from her studio in Brooklyn, New York. She says she’s experimented with different techniques to create an impression of light and air in her art which is beautifully evident. The colours are bold yet soft with lots of rusts and aqua blue tones dominating. This coupled with the almost gentleness of the animals depicted makes for art so, so charming and so beautiful. These would make a truly lovely addition to any nursery wall or play space. You can buy Kristiana Parn prints on her Etsy store Krisblues for $20 each plus $5 shipping to the UK. But if you’re after an original, head to Kristiana Parn’s own site where you can find out more.

Pirum Parum: A pear with personality
May 30, 2011
A pear with a personality… quirky, a bit crazy even but so cool, so creative, so wantable. That’s what I love about this poster by the Swedish Fine Little Day. Called Pirum Parum, it has tons of personality, it’s funky, it’s perfect to liven up any kiddy space. You can get your hands on this Pirum Parum poster over at Bodie and Fou where it costs £23 plus £3.50 delivery. While you’re there, check out the Apple Papple poster too… you may just end up getting both.
P.S. If you’re as taken with Pirum Parum as I am, then checkout these Studio Violet prints too. They’re equally quirky, equally unique and super cool too.
Uber elegant ostriches for your nursery walls
May 18, 2011
I have long been eyeing this wallpaper and it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn’t shared. So here it is. By Turner and Pocock, this Ostrich wallpaper is just so understated and timeless. The cranberry red Ostriches sit elegantly against the creamy white background, creating a look so sophisticated. There’s no room for cutesy here, just oodles of style which will take your nursery from sweet to super stylish. Also on offer by Turner & Pocock are a Polar Bear wallpaper in turquoise and cream and a galloping Zebra one in a bluey-grey . As lovely as they are, for me the Ostrich one is the true winner. The second I laid eyes on it I fell truly, madly, deeply in love. To get this Turner and Pocock Ostrich wallpaper, head to Wallpaper King where it costs £72 a roll plus £5.95 shipping although for orders over £150, delivery is free.
P.S. We’re running a lovely giveaway where there’s vouchers to be won. Check out our Facebook page for all the details.

A style statement: Pip early bird wallpaper
April 13, 2011
I’ve been on the hunt for wallpaper for ebabee no.1’s room. So many styles on offer equals dizzying levels of confusion. And because I’ve made it my life’s work to hunt down the coolest kids stuff on the planet for you, well I end up in the know about wallpaper designs that most people wouldn’t have heard of (more choice, more confusion!). Even in this state of dizzy confusion, when I saw this Pip Early Bird wallpaper in yellow, I knew it was the chosen one. Yellow just excites me but add some turquoise to the mix and a stunning oriental-esque print, now that’s what I call a stunner!
By Brian Yates, this Pip Early Bird wallpaper has the added advantage of growing with your child. It would be perfectly at home in any space, from baby to mama spaces, from playing to eating spaces, from sleeping to living spaces. So if it’s in your nursery and you don’t want to change it for years to come, you don’t have to. The less DIY the better, me thinks! I’m planning to use in on a feature wall and I’m drooling as I picture it. This wallpaper is a style statement, big and bold. But there are times when something less just won’t cut it. Head on over to Tangletree interiors where a roll costs £57.39 with £4.95 for delivery.
The Black Apple: Super quirky and curious prints
March 15, 2011
I discovered The Black Apple yesterday and boy, did I like. It’s an Etsy store peddling prints and notebooks mainly. While there’s nothing unusual in that, the unusual-ness comes from the visuals which are quirky, curious and utterly mesmerising. There are so many to choose from that it’s really hard to pick a favourite, especially when all are so captivating. But the ‘Beekeeper’ does have a certain special appeal for me as does the ‘Tattooed Lady’. Besides the prints, there are some cute n’ quirky notebooks too. I’m liking the ‘Sweet as Pie’ set of 3 notebooks and also feeling the love for ‘Wolf Boy’ in a weird and wonderful way. The Black Apple small prints cost $16 while the notebooks cost $12 for a set of 3 and they ship everywhere from $5. The super talented Emily Martin, owner and creator, has seriously got quite an imagination which has definitely grabbed my attention!
Drop dead stunning animal wall stickers
January 7, 2011
My pulse is racing, my heart is thumping… the excitement levels are super high all because I have spotted these animal wall stickers. I’m truly, madly, deeply, in love with these wall stickers made from vintage wallpaper.
As the story goes: One day, a Dutch mama wanted to decorate her son’s bedroom. Liking retro stuff, she decided to cut out large animal shapes from vintage wallpaper. Folks loved it so much, she started selling it (thank god!). Inke Heiland, the mama in question handcrafts all the stickers and they’re all limited editions. The prints are constantly changing; as one style of vintage wall paper runs out, she turns to another.
If you’re after super unique, fab style that may just have Elle Decor knocking on your door, look no further. Inke Heiland’s vintage Animal Wall Stickers are mostly large in size, range from £12.95 to £50 with delivery at £4.95 and include paste and brush. And you get to choose which way the animal faces as well as the print you like… as they’re all delectable, this may prove a serious problem (but what a problem to have).
P.S. Check out Inke Heiland‘s shop too. You may not be able to leave… I spent forever checking out all the patterns on offer.

Quirkylicious, humourous and one of a kind are these prints and posters by the 2 talented Scandi ladies at Studio Violet. Meet Mr Mustache, Miss Katta and the gang. Chances are you’ve never seen anything quite like them before. Soft, delicate tones infused with vintage style combine to give you characters so delectable and prints so stylish. Understated in colour but oh so big on impact, these prints will be noticed whether you choose to place them in the nursery or even in your own room. They’re available from the Studio Violet site and cost between €16 and €21 with delivery from €5. Also on offer are a pack of 6 postcards for €8.50. The Studio Violet gals have certainly got an imagination and a half!
UPDATE OCT 2011: Studio Violet are no more but you can still get their goodies at Fine Little Day (started by Elisabeth who was one half of the Studio Violet duo) or have a look at Camilla’s site (she’s the other half!).
Nursery alphabets by the amazing Anthropologie
December 7, 2010
Ooh… alphabet’s are cool. I’m re-discovering my a,b,c’s since becoming a mama… don’t all parents? After all, they’re used on everything from wallpaper to cereals for kids and when hot design’s thrown in, they’re seriously charming. And these ones definitely have bags of charm and appeal. The vintage inspired prints, the bold colours and the letter’s themselves have got me hooked. Get one letter or spell out a whole name, the choice is yours. Whatever you do, your nursery wall is going to end up looking so super stylish, you’ll probably have Elle decor knocking on your door. The Pinwale nursery alphabets measure 18cms each, cost £12 plus £5 for delivery but they’ll only be available from February next year (can’t wait!).
Anthropologie is the store these letters come from. If you’re not familiar, this is a US store so hot, I wanna buy the lot. There are now 2 stores in central London and as of this year a UK online store too (woohoo!). It’s mainly crammed with funky, eclectic, vintage inspired clothes and housey stuff that many women would die for. Seriously. They have a small kiddy section with some lovely books and toys. Across the pond, Anthropologie have started a very limited but super stunning kiddy clothing line which I’ve had the pleasure of viewing and I’ve got everything crossed that it lands here soon. Watch this space.
Cool chalkboard stickers
November 11, 2010
I’m liking these chalkboard stickers. They’d make a funky addition to a toddler’s room but I’m also quite in want for the kitchen. Back to the kiddies though, these chalkboard stickers come in all manner of shapes from hedgehogs to hearts. Your kiddo can write, draw or scribble away, then wipe and start again. They cost £12-£24 from Spin Collective plus delivery at a fiver and you get a pack of coloured Crayola chalk thrown in for free. And if you’re after a particular size, just ask the folks at Spin Collective and they’ll make it just for you.
