I am more than a little obsessed with fresh flowers as they always brighten my day, no matter what. I like to think of them as my happy makers. At this time of year, fresh flowers are in abundance so I love to treat myself to a bunch as often as I can. Many times it’s just a few daffodils or a single stem, other times it’s a full bouquet. When I get my flowers, I’m always thinking about different ways to display them. Just sticking them in a vase is fine sometimes but other times I like to play around with different displays. Here are 3 of my current favourite slightly more unusual ways to display flowers: Continue Reading "3 unusual ways to display your flowers"
When I think of floral prints, Summer immediately comes to mind. But recently I’ve seen a lot of bold florals that are perfect for Autumn. Think big, bold, stand-out prints in dark tones like deep pinks, rusty reds and midnight blues. This Autumn floral trend has me hooked for Anya and myself.
Statement pieces like these would look great paired with a solid colour or if you’re brave enough, you could try mixing them with another simple print like polka dots or stripes. For the more adventurous amongst us you could even try mixing two floral prints – I will admit I’m not brave enough to do that! I’ve picked out a few of my favourite pieces for mama and baby and while they’re all striking, I’m quite in love with those floral print girls wellies and the floral tights for women. Both would create quite a stunning Autumn look when worn with solid muted colours and that’s the kind of look that appeals most to me; one statement piece that really shines. Here’s where you’ll find these pieces:

I’ve found that as Anya has started taking an interest in what she wears, she almost always tends to go for the craziest, most mis-matched combos which can even include her dotty pyjama bottoms combined with a floral skirt and a very ethnic Indian style top! While I let her have freedom at home, I prefer to be in charge when we are going out. That doesn’t always end happily but since I’ve noticed she is more drawn to bolder patterned clothes (like most kids), I now pick out clothes like these and have fun mixing and matching the various prints and patterns with her. Mixing prints & patterns not only looks good but it’s also a way to give a new look to an old outfit. So I thought I would share 3 of my favourite ways to mix prints and patterns:
Autumn is officially here. I’m not a fan of the sudden change from long sunny days to chilly dark evenings and it always takes me a couple of weeks to adjust. So to brighten my mood I wanted to share something colourful and vibrant today and found these pretty floral duvet covers and cute cushions. I’m loving the bright colors of the duvets and the playful designs of the cushions. My favourite is that bow print cushion with the little pink bow detail on it. All of it is very girly and sweet and perfect for cheering anybody up on this dull, grey day. You’ll find these kids duvet sets and cushions at File dans ta chambre.
Today is the last day of summer holidays… while I’ll be happy to have some time to myself, I’ll also miss having my daughter around. To celebrate the last day we’ve got lots of fun stuff planned so I’ve promised to spend as little time working as possible. But before I go off to play I wanted to share these beautiful images with you. I spotted them on the Oh Joy! blog and they took my breath away. The girl is stunning as are the floral head pieces. I know my daughter would love to wear something like this when she’s playing dress-up but then again, which little girl wouldn’t. Maybe one day I’ll get around to making one but for today I’ll just admire these beautiful pictures shot by Chaunte Vaughn and styled by Jessi Butterfield.
