easy fruit crafts for kids

Nothing says Summer like some fresh, brightly coloured fruit.  Ice-cold watermelon, bright red strawberries or even the odd fruit daiquri or two enjoyed in the sunshine is what it’s all about.  With the Summer holidays coming up I have DIY’s on the mind and what better than some fun fruit crafts for kids to keep them busy.  So I’ve rounded up 10 of the very best fruity DIY’s – some with free printables for a quick little project and others that are a bit more involved.  Most of these fruit crafts for kids would make great decorations for a fruit themed Summer party too.

free printable fathers day cards for kids

Do you celebrate Father’s Day?  We don’t do gifts but we always have cards and a usually a nice family meal.  Every year I have the best intentions of making a card but it never happens.  This year though I decided I would be organised and make sure it happens.  So I made these little mustache cards – aren’t they cute?  I was so pleased with the way they turned out that I thought I would share them here.  If you still need a card, then these free printable Father’s Day cards are the answer.  You can print them and let the kids decorate them as they wish.

To make these cards, all you have to do is print out the PDF’s, fold along the line and cut them out.  Just make sure that you don’t cut all the way round – the tops shouldn’t be cut so that the back of the card remains attached.  I used pink, maroon and grey coloured card but you can choose whatever colours you like.  And if you’d like the kids to decorate them then lighter colours will of course be better.

I’ve attached two PDF’s of these Father’s Day cards – one where the mustaches have little messages printed on them and the second which are left blank for you to put your own message or just to decorate as you wish.  We’ve made so many of them and Anya can’t wait to get decorating.  Happy Father’s Day to all those great dad’s out there!

I’m always so last minute when it comes to a Father’s Day card or organising something for the day.  So this year I thought I would try and get ahead of the game and have at least a fun card and something fun lined up well in advance of the day.  We’re not in to giving gifts or anything major but it is nice to do something to mark the day.  So I’m planning a family lunch and I also wanted to find a cute card for Anya to give Richard.  I would love to have created my own little DIY with her and may still do next week but in the meantime I went looking and I found these sweet free father’s day printables.  They’re not all cards but they can all be turned in to one or used in different ways.  I like them all but I suspect Anya will choose the glasses or the cute little bow and tie one!

free printable easter boxes

Today I have a little treat for you – these super cute free printable Easter boxes which you can fill with whatever you like.  They perfectly compliment the Easter bunny cards I shared a little while ago.

These bunny boxes have been designed by a very talented design and architecture student called Annelies and they are exclusively for my readers.  It was her blog – A pattern a day – that first caught my attention.  The patterns she creates – wow!  Just wow.

To make these boxes print out the templates provided.  Annelies has designed three boxes – each with a slightly different pattern.  Regular printer paper is too thin so you will need coloured card to ensure that the boxes hold together.  Once printed, cut along the outline provided and then fold down the dotted lines.  You will need to glue the the box together, leaving out the top flap so you can put things in the box.   I love a bit of pastel for Easter but of course you can choose any coloured card you like.

Anya’s been taking these bunny boxes as little gifts for the play dates she’s been invited to over the holidays.  We either fill them with little chocolate eggs or a small toy.  We’ve given out a couple and they have been loved.  Making the box yourself adds that personal touch which people so appreciate.

A big thank you to Annelies for creating these adorable free printable Easter boxes and for the cute bunny cards too.  We have made great use of these and I hope you will too.

With Easter fast approaching (how did we get to March already?!) it’s time to think Easter crafts.  Anya loves all kinds of crafts but I know that Easter crafts are her absolute favourite – eggs, bunnies, chocolate – what’s not love?  So today I have these adorable free printable Easter bunny cards for you.  Anya’s already made loads to give to her friends – they’re super easy to make and look so cute!

These free printable Easter cards have been created exclusively for my readers by a super talented graphic designer and architecture student called Annelies.  I stumbled across her site and I fell in love with her work so we collaborated and here are these cute little cards.  This is the first part of the collaboration – there’s another part coming soon.

To make these cards simply print out the templates provided and cut them out.  Stick the envelope part with glue or invisible tape, pop the card in and you’re done!  I have chosen to use pastel coloured card as these colours remind me of Spring but of course you can choose whatever colours you like.  I would suggest using something heavier than regular printer paper like thin card for best results.  Once printed, write your message on the back and give them to your friends or you could even make an Easter bunting by hanging these bunnies on to string.  They’d also make great gift tags and so much more.

I am so glad I discovered Annelies’ work and we managed to collaborate.  If you like pattern and design then don’t miss her blog A pattern a day where she creates beautiful new patterns every day.  Annelies is only 22 so I can’t even begin to image what great things she will get up to in the coming years!  And don’t forget, this is part one – part two of the free Easter printable is coming soon.

Here is the PDF – Annelies has created a few versions of the bunny cards each with slightly different patterns.  Print and enjoy for your own personal use:

valentines card free printable - ebabee

Do you celebrate Valentines day?  I don’t like the whole commercial side of it but I do like the sentiment behind the day.  And now with a child in the mix too, it’s more a day to celebrate love not just between a couple but all kinds of love.  That sounds a bit cheesy I know, but you get what I mean right?  I especially like the act of giving a simple card to loved ones so I asked the very talented Lucy Monkman who is a designer and illustrator to come up with a Valentines card printable for all of you.  Lucy has designed a super cute fairy scattering hearts which you can print out and the kids can simply colour in or you can make it in to a Valentines card to give out to whomever you like.

This cute free Valentines card printable is available to download in two sizes – A4 and A5.  To download just click the PDF in the size you want and print it out, ideally on to card.  For the A5 one you will have to choose A5 as the paper size on your printer settings before hitting print.  We have printed loads and Anya wants to give them out to all her besties at school.  A big thank you to Lucy Monkman for making this card exclusively for my readers.

"January 2015 free printable calendar"

This year I’ve decided to be more organised with work and managing home life.  In the past, I’ve always relied on writing things down on scraps of paper that I can of course never find when I need.  Or I’ve always got 4-5 notebooks on the go, each of which has a specific subject at the start of the year but come mid-year I’ve got random notes in all and end up looking through each one to find what I want.  Such a waste of time.  So this year, I’ve started the year with a weekly planner – one sheet for each week with lots of notes for the whole week.  That plus a whole year planner with key dates highlighted so I always know what is happening at a glance.

"free-printable 2015 calendar"

While looking for planners and calendars I came across some gorgeous free printable ones so I thought I would share them here.  They are so pretty that they may inspire you to use them, even if you don’t normally.  Or at the very least, they’ll make lovely wall decorations even if you never write on them.  I’ve picked a selection – some that are better for kids and others more for adults.  I’ll be printing one for Anya too as she has learned about days and dates in school so it’s a great way for her to get more familiar with the whole idea.  And besides, she’s told me she wants to countdown to Christmas (in January!!!).

"printable 2015 calendars""printable calendars 2015"

Many of the calendars are released monthly so you’ll have to visit the site each month to print the latest one. I quite like that as you never know what’s coming next.   The top one is probably my favourite (it’s so cute) but not the most practical to write on, however I still love it just to pin it up in a kids room and I can’t wait to see the new ones each month.  A couple are in French but of course not hard to understand.  Here’s where you’ll be able to print all these gorgeous free 2015 calendars:

1. January bear calendar | 2. Animals monthly calendar | 3. Hand drawn font calendar | 4. colourful and cute calendar | 5. February dots calendar | 6. January dotty bird calendar

"four easy Christmas crafts for kids"

Christmas is the perfect time for crafting.  It’s cold outside, the holidays are on and so it’s a great way to keep the kids entertained.  My preference is always for quick and easy crafts.  Anything too involved and I find that the kids patience wears thin and the crafts don’t get finished.  So with that in mind I’ve picked four fun and colourful crafts most of which come with free printables too.

1.  How cute are those printable Christmas crackers?  The printable templates also come as blank ones so they’re great to give to the kids and let them decorate as they wish.

2. I’m loving these playful DIY birch Christmas tree ornaments.  For these you will need to buy the birch rounds or improvise with something else like thick cardboard.  And then decorate as you wish – with stickers or drawings or both.

3. These printable tree and gingerbread pouches come undecorated so you can print on to colourful paper or plain paper and decorate.  These shapes can be used for so many things – storing little treats, making hanging ornaments, gift tags and so much more.

4.  A cute little printable geometric snowman that even comes with a hat.  This little snowman can be used on it’s own as a decoration or if you print quite a few, it would make a super cute table decoration on Christmas day.  You could even use it for place names – just write each persons name on the hat.

Have a great weekend all!  Enjoy the happy, cheerful, festive atmosphere which is the thing I love the most about Christmas.

P.S. Today is the last day for UK Christmas orders from our kids clothing shop.
