French art for kids

I’m in love with this new French design studio – how great is their art?  I love discovering new designers for a range of things but especially for kids art.  Art like this that may be aimed at kids but really it’s ageless and will be loved by adults too.  I’m loving the posters as well as those quirky animal trophies.  Every child should have some art on their walls and I’m planning to have a lot in Anya’s new room – the only trouble is choosing from all the amazing kids art out there.  But I think those animal trophies and that adorable juggler print are going to be hard to pass up!  Visit Melanie, the designer’s shop to see the rest of her striking collection of kids art.

French fashion for kids sale

One of things instilled in me by both my parents was to always dress well.  In our home, dressing well was just as important as good manners.  By dressing well I don’t mean expensively or in designer gear but smart, clean, ironed clothes that always looked more than presentable.  I remember my teenage years when ripped jeans and crumpled clothes were all the rage (or so I thought!) and my father looking appalled that I would be stepping out in such clothes. But he also knew better than to argue with a sulky, temperamental teenager!  That phase aside,  I couldn’t agree more with my parents and I hope to teach Anya the same.  Apart from the importance of  looking presentable, I also think a little style in everyday life makes you feel just as good as it makes you look.

I spend time and effort buying clothes for myself but equally do the same for Anya.  I like her to look good every time she goes out but at the same time I don’t want to spend crazy amounts on her clothes as kids grow so fast.  I’m always looking for cool style at the best prices and so I was happy to discover Tendre Deal where you get chic French fashion for kids and babies at up to 70% off.  Tendre deal is a private members site so if you want to be in the know you just have to sign-up for free with your email and you’ll be told about each new sale that comes up.  New sales come up pretty often and last for about a week.  In the past they have sold well known French brands like Jacadi and Chupeta shoes and also many lesser known French brands all of which still offer lots of style.  And occasionally they even have French toys and decor from brands like Janod and Annabel Kern.

With each sale being up to 70% off it’s hard to resist the goodies on offer so I will be keeping an eye on Tendre Deal especially to snap up of some of my favourite French designers as and when they come up.  Currently they have the chic Les Petites Choses on sale with some fab bargains for both boys and girls.

This post is brought to you in partnership with Tendre Deal as part of my work with Mothers & Shakers.  All content, words and ideas are my own.  Thank you for supporting my work with partners that support this blog.

"kids-clothes-giveaway"When your first child is born, I think most parents tend to go a bit camera crazy.  I know we were super snap-happy!  We have tons of photo’s of Anya’s first 6 months, then a quite a few of the next 6 months but after that the photo collection really seems to fizzle out.  Recently while going through my photos I realised this and saw that I wasn’t taking nearly enough photo’s of her anymore.  Sure, we still take them at big occasions like her birthday, holidays, her first day of school but not enough of her playing in the park, going out for a family meal or just being silly at home.

So I thought it would be fun to photograph Anya in her favourite place, the park, but it would be even better to combine this with my other passions – kids style and this blog.  So I teamed up with Juliana of Captured by Juliana (a family and kids photographer) and Nick from French Blossom to bring you this fun shoot. And as it’s my first blog shoot, I wanted to celebrate with a fantastic giveaway for you too (read on to find out more about the giveaway and how to enter). "emile et ida fall winter 2013"Most of the clothes worn by Anya on this shoot are by Emile et Ida.  If you already know this French brand, I’m sure you are a fan… who isn’t?!  But if you haven’t heard of Emile et Ida, prepare to fall in love.  Very chic, very playful with a touch of retro, Emile et Ida is probably my most favourite French brand out there at the moment.  Anya loved wearing the clothes and had great fun on the shoot.  None of the shots are posed… Juliana just let her be and do what a 4 year old does in a park and took photo’s as Anya played and did her thing. "emile et ida winter collection 2013"The giveaway:  The winner gets to choose any one item of clothing from the Emile et Ida range at French Blossom in the size of your choice.  If I could enter, I know what I would choose but more importantly, what will you choose?  I adore the cat print dress worn in the first photo but there is also a very cool cat print sweatshirt (not shown here).  There are beautiful skirts and cool stuff for boys too so you may have a hard time choosing!

To enter:  Simply like ebabee and French Blossom on Facebook and then leave a comment below to say you have done so.  If you already like the pages, then just say so in the comment.  All 3 things are mandatory.

One entry per person and this competition is open to all my readers worldwide.  The competition closes at midnight (UK time) on Sunday 6th October 2013.  Any entries after this time will not be counted. Winner will be announced on this post and on my facebook page on Tuesday 8th October.  This giveaway is now closed.  The winner of this giveaway is Abigail Fahey. Congratulations Abigail!

* This is not a sponsored post.  I thought a shoot was a fun way to share these lovely clothes.  All the clothes were loaned by French Blossom for the purpose of this shoot and have been returned and the talented kids photographer Juliana very kindly did the shoot.  All dresses and tops by Emile et Ida, tights by TroiZenfants and black skirt and shoes were our own.

"French clothes for children"I’m a big fan of stocking up on stylish essentials for my daughters wardrobe (and mine); you know the kind that let you mix and match to create chic everyday looks.  That is exactly what this new AW 2013 collection by Merveilles does so well.  It’s full of very French and very chic essentials that can be dressed up or down.  The collection is small with mostly girls clothes although there are a few pieces for boys too.  I’m loving that denim and mustard combo and that green outfit is super chic too!

Update August 2014: Sadly Merveilles no longer exists.

♫ Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear French Blossom! ♫

I wanted to check out their birthday promo so I went along to have a look.  I didn’t get much further than the new Louis Louise Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.  Soft and delicate fabrics in solid colours and understated prints have been used to create chic little outfits with lots of French style.  I’m loving the tiny stars dotted around many of their pieces especially the purple London bloomer with gold stars… how cute is that?  The collection expertly combines colours like charcoal greys, mustards and ruby reds which are just perfect for Autumn and Winter… bold enough to stand out without being too loud.  There are many Louis Louise pieces that have been discounted in the French Blossom birthday promo so go and have a look and don’t forget to use the code EBABEES if you fall for something not on sale.

P.S. There’s still time to enter our scary/cute Halloween giveaway!

Simple French style…

"French clothes for babies"

In recent years baby and children’s clothing has evolved a lot and it’s so refreshing to see.  Gone are the days where everything had to be pink, blue and fussy… thankfully!  There are new stylish shops popping up everywhere especially Europe and it’s these little independents that I love discovering.  My latest find is mie (ito)… a French store that makes beautifully simple clothes for 0-6 year olds in small quantities.

Often times the simpler the clothes, the better they look.  I guess I am a minimalist at heart so this collection really appeals to me and I love the hint of embellishment that some of the pieces have.  Also on offer are some accessories like the black and white striped garland and some lovely bibs.  From reading their blog I gathered that mie (ito) may start a bedding line soon and I can’t wait to see it.

"french kids decor"French Blossom is a beautiful boutique that represents some of the finest French kids designers all under one roof.  You’ve got clothes, toys, decor and accessories on offer; all are delightful and very French.  I like to think of French Blossom as a divine little French Patisserie…  y’know the kind of place you walk in to where you’re suddenly surrounded by the most delectable treats making it impossible to choose just one?  Yup, it’s that kind of place!

"french nursery decor and accessories"Started by a husband and wife team who lived in Paris for several years, French Blossom is the first boutique of it’s kind.  The couple were hugely inspired by the elegance and creativity seen in French kids fashion and decided to bring it together in one shop.  On offer are brands like Mimi’Lou, Lale, Bakker, Eponime and many more.  While each brand is unique, they all have bags of style and charm.

"french kids fashion"Visit French Blossom to browse their complete selection and you may find a cool bargain or two as they’re  currently on sale.  But if you like something that’s not on sale, don’t despiar…  there’s a special 10% discount for all my readers.  At checkout just use the code: EBABEES.

"french clothing for kids"

Today I’ve got my eye on Louis Louise, a wonderful kids clothing line from the trés chic city of Paris.  Started by Julie Meiler, a designer and a mama who was inspired by her daughter who is also her muse and the cover girl for Louis Louise.  I discovered this stylish collection over at French Blossom, a store full of only the lovliest Frenchie brands.

Louis Louise create clothes for boys, girls and the cutest little ensembles for babies too.  Their collections are made out of simple fabrics and delicate prints in subtle tones complimented with rich colours like deep plums and royal blues.  The clothes are timeless yet modern, they have a certain simplicity to them but with lots of charm and of course bags of French style and elegance.  To check out their Spring/Summer 2012 collection visit my sponsors French Blossom who have a large selection on offer.  And French Blossom are also offering free worldwide shipping on all orders over €70 until 16th of April 2012.

"mouse mobile for babies"

A while ago I shared some whimsical mouse mobiles with you which proved to be a popular find.  Those mouse mobiles were the creation of Laurence Bonnet, a French lady with a penchant for making delicate little treasures that are oh so beautiful.  Today I’m lusting after her newest hand made creations which include these adorable pajama clad mice that come complete with a little wire frame bed and can be suspended from the ceiling… perfect little eye candy above a cot or toddler bed.  These sleeping mouse mobiles are a limited edition creation where each piece is unique and numbered.

hand made soft toy bears"

All of Laurence’s mobiles and soft toys are hand made with the greatest attention to detail and lots and lots of imagination.  Another of her new creations are these cuddly and cool looking bears.  I love the whole father son thing and I love how cool and collected papa bear looks with his scarf, top hat and suspenders ensemble.  Laurence sells her creations under the Rose Miniscule name and that’s where you’ll find all these gorgeous little treasures.

"dressing up clothes for kids"

I’ve had my eye on Les Zigouis for the longest time but recently realised that I hadn’t shared and this is definitely a brand not to be missed.  Les Zigouis is the brainchild of Barbra, a Parisian mama who has an eye for superbly unique style.  She mainly creates kids clothes that are bordering on the world of dressing up and fantasy but also makes some accessories like bags and art.  Her kids clothes are quirky and eclectic in a way I’ve never seen before and I’m very drawn to them.

There is an element of high drama to these clothes that I’m loving.  You can see that there are influences drawn from clowns and circuses, from vintage styles and from animal shapes but all brought together in an amazingly creative way which is why Barbra’s stuff is so exceptionally different.  I love the funky bear hat and also the clown like collar.  The little denim shorts with braces are very cool too.

"quirky kids clothes"

All these dreamy clothes are part of the Spring Summer 2012 collection and you’ll find these and more over at Les Zigouis.
