One of my favourite ways to brighten up a kids room is to hang up a garland or some bunting. Even the most blah space can instantly come to life with one of these. And of course no kiddy party can be complete without bunting. Currently my favourites are these beautiful handmade ones by Numero 74 which include garlands made from vintage fabrics, crochet garlands and more. And they’ve just added party packs to their range with bunting adorned invitation cards and the prettiest party bags I’ve seen. You’ll find all these at Mokkasin which is fast becoming a favourite shop of mine not just because of their wonderful selection but also their photo styling is so stunning like in these picture above.

Nursery garlands: So simple, so stylish
March 1, 2012
I’m extremely partial to a beautiful nursery garland. I’ve been looking out for one for my daughter’s room but the problem is choosing just one. I’ve come across so many beauties that I want them all. Today I’m drooling over these stunning ones by Les Petites Emplettes. It’s their simplicity that makes them so desirable and stylish. Uncomplicated silhouettes of stars, trains and sheep in plain grey felt make for nursery garlands so beautiful. I’m thinking the sheep one may be the one for my daughter. For me, less is always more and this is a perfect example of that philosophy. Visit Les Petites Emplettes where you’ll find these garlands and lots more kids stuff that is super simple but super stylish or there’s a little selection at Smallable.com
Colourful fun: Japanese paper balloons
October 27, 2011
Japanese paper balloons seem to be quite the rage. I’ve never written about them before because I’d only come across the animal ones and to be honest they really weren’t for me (except the fish one which is cute). But today I found simple round patterned ones and I loved them. No animal faces, just brightly coloured paper balls, some with prints on them, others just in a single bold colour. These ones would be a wonderful way to add a splash of colour to a toddler room, a play space or a birthday party celebration especially if you hang many together. Being made of paper you can inflate, deflate, re-inflate, deflate again… you get the idea. I found these Japanese paper balloons over at Mimi’s Circus, a lovely store started by 2 mama’s who are also sisters. Today I’ve picked these balloons to bring you from their store but there are lots of other goodies there too.
Pretty little things by Scalae
September 13, 2011
I recently discovered Scalae who make a small collection of decorations and accessories for the kiddies. Little dolls, small objects, little decorative branches and hanging houses are amongst their goodies. Of all the pretty little things on offer I have my heart set on the hand made dolls. They’re been created using beautiful fabrics in bold and bright colours like fuchsia and turquoise. I’m loving these decorations to add a little ‘je ne sais quoi’ to a nursery space. Place them on a shelf or dangle above your baby’s cot or hang them from a door handle. The dolls come as a set of 3 in their own little bag and cost €24 from Cosy Kid Home. You might need a little help from google translate unless of course you are fluent in French.
