Easter is almost here. What are your plans for the long weekend? We are planning a trip to the Natural History Museum, lots of down time, some delicious food and of course a few crafts. I love Easter crafts, especially Easter bunny crafts that can be so, so cute! So I’ve been collecting some ideas to try out over the weekend and in the holidays. I’ve rounded up 9 of my absolute favourite ones that include some edible ones too. Most of these Easter bunny crafts are easy to make and perfect to keep little people busy over the holidays:

DIY making clay necklace pendants
March 8, 2016
I never considered myself a DIY’er or a crafter but since I started some crafts for this blog a while ago, I can’t seem to stop. It’s so addictive. My latest crafting obsession is making stuff with home bake clay. Oh the possibilities! My first DIY clay project was making clay necklace pendants for kids. We chose moon and star shaped pendants but you could go any any shape you like. Here’s what we did:
DIY fruity Summer diary
July 14, 2015
Do you get homework over the Summer holidays? We don’t but reading and writing practice is encouraged. With the best will in the world I know I’m not going to sit down with Anya and start practicing writing every day or even every week. We get enough homework during term time so we all need a break 😉 But I do think it’s a good idea to keep in touch with writing and reading so I thought I would make her a Summer diary where she can write what she does every few days. Last week I rounded up some fabulous fruit crafts which inspired me to make these fruity DIY Summer diaries for Anya.
Anya loved the idea of making fruit inspired DIY Summer journals and chose strawberry, pineapple and orange as her fruits. If you’d like to make these, read on.
What you’ll need:
A6 notebooks
A4 coloured paper in red, yellow and orange
2-3 sheets thin green card
black pen and brown and white coloured pencil
scissors
tape or glue (optional)
Begin by covering your notebooks with the coloured paper. When I was in school in India, we had to cover all our school books or there would be big trouble. With so many years of practice I can now cover books with my eyes closed! But in case you haven’t done it before, here’s how:
Once the books are covered, you can stick or glue the inside flaps down but I prefer to leave them just folded without glue or tape. Next I needed to make the books look more like the fruit they were meant to be. I drew leaf shapes on my green card – just using a pencil. This isn’t meant to be precise or perfect so just draw freehand. I drew three different types of leaves – one for each fruit. And then I cut them out. But I wanted to create a bookmark too so I cut a long piece of card with the leaves cut out at the top as the picture below shows. So you not only have a DIY Summer diary but also a super cute DIY bookmark to match.
To finish off these fruity DIY Summer diaries I used a fine black pen to add seeds to the strawberry, a brown coloured pencil to line the pineapple diary and a white coloured pencil to add a touch of white to the orange diary.
My favourite journal is the strawberry one – I might even make one for myself! If you’re looking for some more fruit craft inspiration, check out my round-up of some of the best.
7 of the best Easter bunny crafts
March 30, 2015
I don’t really know why but I always get much more excited about Easter crafts than I do about Christmas or any other occasion. With this in mind, last week I shared some fabulous Easter egg decorating ideas and the week before I had some adorable Easter bunny card printables created especially for you. This week I have another fab free printable coming for you but today I wanted to share some fun and unusual Easter bunny crafts to try out over the holidays. I went looking and here are my favourites:
This is such a cute idea to make your own bunny t-shirts. You could actually make any item of clothing using the same idea.
I know Easter is all about indulging in chocolate but you can also have fun with healthier treats like these bunny bagels. How cute are they? Made with cream cheese and fruit, they look so adorable – I don’t think any little kid would be able to resist.
If like me you’re a Miffy fan, Easter is the perfect time to indulge in lots of Miffy shaped things like this cute DIY miffy bag perfect to fill with little chocolate eggs.
I did warn you that I was a bit Miffy obsessed so here is another Miffy craft. This pastel Miffy bunting would look great for an Easter party or even as a year round kids room decoration and it comes with a free printable template making it super easy to make.
These DIY Easter bunny envelopes not only look cute but will keep little hands busy for a while. This is one craft kids can make on their own and then fill with little toys or treats for themselves or for a friend.
Easter can’t be complete without a set of bunny ears for each of the kids and maybe even for the adults! I’m loving these DIY bunny ears that are easy to make too.
Last but not least are these fun bunny decorations to hang up over the Easter weekend. Or instead you could just decorate paper plates in a similar way – add ears and a little face to the middle.
These are some of my favourite Easter bunny crafts – I really want to have a go at making those ears and that Miffy garland. Do you enjoy Easter crafts? What crafts will you be doing this Easter?

Playful: A book packed with fun craft projects
September 24, 2014
I’ve long been a fan of Merrilee Liddiard who writes the creative kids craft blog called MerMag. She has now published a book full of the most fun crafts to make with your kids. The thought behind the book is that we can make toys and fun things for our kids just like our grandparents did. Everything doesn’t have to be bought but instead it’s all about engaging with your kids to create playful things where the making part is just as important as the playing. Being the stylish mum that she is, Merrilee goes a step further with her book. While it’s all about kids crafts it’s beautifully presented with thought given to the clothes the kids wear, the interiors and every detail so that it’s a book you can happily display on your coffee table.
The book is called “Playful: Fun projects to make with + for kids” and has a big range of crafts including toy making, paper crafts, making dressing up stuff and lots more. Some of my favourite crafts include those cute wooden necklaces (pictured at the top) and those giant animal cutouts. That tiger pinata looks really fun for a party too. There are many crafty mums out there but the reason I especially love Merrilee’s creations is because everything is do-able by non-crafty mums like me and it’s very easy to genuinely involve kids and let them do a lot of it. Also, you never need ridiculous amounts of materials or complex tools. And besides all her crafts look so beautiful don’t you think?
Simple Summer holiday activites at home
July 22, 2014
The Summer holidays have been here for a couple of weeks now and are a welcome break from the routine. With the beautiful UK weather, we’ve been indulging in lots of outdoor time. But since I work from home, I can’t take Anya out morning to evening every day as I need to find time to work. If you work from home, you’ll know that the constant questions, demands for food and expressions of boredom make working nearly impossible or at least means you take three times as long to do anything! While the TV and ipad are good at keeping her distracted, I like to use these in moderation. So instead I’ve been stocking up on a few creative little activities which I’ve started giving her when she needs something to do. Nothing complicated, just the very simplest little things I’ve bought which she can create with by herself. I thought I would share the three that have been the biggest hits so far:
Let’s Make Some Great Fingerprint Art is such a fun book. The book is packed with loads and loads of ideas for making art with your fingers. All you need is a colourful inkpad and a pencil to complete the pictures you create. Anya loved this book and takes it out nearly everyday since I gave it to her.
I spotted this massive jar of beads in Ikea a while ago. They’re not exactly beads but mini tube shaped bits that Anya has used for all sorts of creations. From making jewellery to sticking them on paper to make pictures, this jar has so many uses. Anya has also used these beads to make up counting by colours kind of games. But be warned, every time they come out, you’ll be treading on little bits of plastic for days to come!
This last one was a bit of an impromptu made-up thing but Anya loved it so I thought it was worth sharing. I needed to get on with some urgent work so needed her occupied. I just made a huge sheet of paper, pulled put some poster paints and told her to have fun. She ended up painting with her fingers and had a ball.
How do you keep your kids occupied? I’d love to hear your ideas.
mama & baby…
September 5, 2013
I clearly remember the day that I got my first pair of converse shoes as a teenager. I seriously thought I was the coolest kid on the block. They were bright pink (of course!) with high-tops and I don’t think I ever took them off. All my friends had them and I really felt that I had arrived! Looking back, I think the bright pink was way over the top but I was 13 or 14 and clearly not as cool as I thought I was! Even though I’m not much of a trainers kind of gal anymore, I still love these cool shoes but these days I’m much more in to the muted colours and I especially love the simple black ones because they go with everything and look pretty stylish too. Not long ago I also bought a mini red pair for my daughter who wasn’t as keen on these shoes as me until she saw the glitter ones and is now hankering for a pair of those. I have to admit I am partial to the gold ones and am tempted to get a pair for her and me. A little bit of sparkle for the coming winter months seems like a good idea to me.
So this week with these shoes in mind, I thought I would have a bit of fun with the mama & baby post… let mama sport these cool and classic trainers while baby plays with those DIY converse wearing hens! Aren’t they so quirky-cute?
This post is brought to you in association with John Lewis. All the words, opinions and ideas expressed here are mine.

3 {easy} DIY projects for kids…
June 12, 2013
The rain doesn’t seem to want to leave us alone here in London. My loud and repeated chanting of ‘rain, rain go away’ hasn’t done the trick. My 4 year old daughter is luckily a big fan of board games so we do spend time playing these on rainy days. But once you’ve played Snakes & Ladders 14 times in a row, it’s either time to scream or move on. The other rainy day activity that is always greeted with squeals of delight is crafting and DIY. So I went looking for a few fun and most importantly easy crafts and here’s what I liked:
These DIY paper beads are easy to make and look so pretty too. The ones pictured are made of origami paper but you can use any paper you like. So really all you need is paper and a bit of glue. Once made, these can be threaded to make bracelets, necklaces or even a garland for your kids room. These over-sized face masks on a stick are so cute! Very easy to make and your child can get as creative as they like with the faces. Make hats or crowns, glue on straws for the hair or use glitter to add a bit of sparkle… the possibilities are endless. I love these DIY {edible} finger paints because not only can you make as many colours as you like, but this is one DIY that will entertain even babies. Since the paints are edible, babies and get as creative (and messy!) as they like without you needing to worry.
