junior bedding set yellow bluemix and match kids bedding ideascolourful quilts for kdisThe most exciting part of our house renovations is about to begin.  We are nearly done with all the building stuff and soon to come is the furnishing bit which is the part I have been waiting for.  One of the rooms I am most excited about doing up is Anya’s room.  Since I will be doing the room from scratch, I have a blank canvas and that both excites me and makes me nervous!  I have already got Anya one of these as I knew I wanted her to have some sort of play tent/hideout.  One of the things I am keen to get absolutely right for her room is bedding and recently I came across a beautiful new London based range that ticked all the boxes – comfort, style and natural materials.

Camomile London’s range is so pretty!  So soft, natural and simple.  One of the things I like most about this range is that you can mix and match colours, textures and patterns to create your own look.  Mix a bit of pale ivory with bright coral or how about going bold with indigo and mustard?  Apart from the kids bedding, there is also a nursery bedding range which is equally gorgeous and some sweet little cushions and accessories to go with the bedding.  Camomile London has been newly created by a mother and daughter team whose simple, understated style I’m really loving.  Bedding like this is so cosy and inviting that I’m sure sweet dreams are almost guaranteed!

Flower power…

"pink floral duvet covers girls"Autumn is officially here.  I’m not a fan of the sudden change from long sunny days to chilly dark evenings and it always takes me a couple of weeks to adjust.  So to brighten my mood I wanted to share something colourful and vibrant today and found these pretty floral duvet covers and cute cushions.  "cute kids cushions"I’m loving the bright colors of the duvets and the playful designs of the cushions.  My favourite is that bow print cushion with the little pink bow detail on it.  All of it is very girly and sweet and perfect for cheering anybody up on this dull, grey day.  You’ll find these kids duvet sets and cushions at File dans ta chambre.

Out of Africa…

September 3, 2013

"animal themed kids bedding"This new kids bedding collection by Mini Empire is nice… very nice!  The predominantly black and white Africa inspired animal theme is playful and stylish.  I’m especially loving that little round elephant cushion. "elephant baby blanket"In addition to duvet sets and cushions, there are some lovely baby blankets too like this African animals one.  I’m already a big fan of Swedish Mini Empire and I love that they’ve taken their striking prints and turned them in to wonderful kids bedding.  The bedding collection will be available from October 2013.

"woodland themed kids bedding"This morning I was browsing the H&M site when I spotted their new home collection for kids.  I immediately got drawn in because of the soft colour palette which includes light pinks, browns and lots of white.  I’m a big fan of using pink and brown together and that’s what this collection does well.   "animal print toy storage basket"The duvet covers, soft toys, storage bins and accessories are based on a woodland theme with large animals printed on many pieces.  The whole collection is pretty cool and fun but I especially like that quirky bow-tie wearing deer head.  For high-street shopping, H&M is one of my favourite stores because much like this collection, you always get style at very affordable prices.

"liberty print kids bedlinen"

Liberty prints are so pretty and I love them even more when they’re paired with solid and stripes.  So when I saw this collection of kids bed linen and accessories I was excited to share them with you.  From France, Lab. makes lots or pretty things for babies and kids which include duvet sets, sleeping bags, cushions and more.  There are plenty of liberty prints on offer and then there are the solid and stripes which complement them perfectly.   I’m especially loving those sweet teddy bear pillows and these single striped linen quilts.

"liberty print baby bedlinen"

Lab. don’t just make things for kids; they’ve got a lovely adult size collection too.  Most of their designs are suitable for any age so you’ve got gorgeous cushions, duvets and quilts in similar prints and colours for grown-ups as well.  My favourite liberty print is the pastel one pictured at the top… so delicate and so pretty for any little baby.  And I love the turquoise and brown combination for any age.

Feeling green…

May 17, 2013

"green kids room decorations"Yesterday my daughter had a play date with another little girl and they got hooked on the colour green.  The two girls kept saying ‘green’ louder and louder and then bursting in to fits of laughter.  They then started adding an extra word and coming up with things like ‘green toast’, ‘green dog’… the idea being to pair it with something that most definitely isn’t green.  This produced more laughter and eventually the inevitable bathroom humour ensued followed by the loudest giggles ever!  I don’t know how 4 year old minds work but I do know this little game tickled them pink!  While I didn’t take part in the game, it did get me thinking of the colour green and I realised I’d never done a green post.  I always think that green isn’t a colour I’m naturally drawn to but then again there are so many shades of it that there really is a green for everyone (my personal favourite is mint green) and so I thought it would be fun to look for a few things in different shades of green and here’s what I found:

1.  green linen sunsuit by wolfechild…  2.  minty green toddler duvet set by garbo & friends…  3.  forest green firs pillowcase by fine little day…  4.   shades of green bird poster by silke bonde…  5.  ice-cream green playhouse by lucky boy sunday…  6. dark green book called Grandpa Green by Lane Smith.

Happy weekend all and see you next week!

Spring is in the air…

February 1, 2013

"scandinavian kids bed linen"I had my birthday in January.  Nothing unusual about this except January is the bleakest month of the year in this part of the world. So it’s really not a good month for a birthday but this year at least I managed to escape for some winter sun.  Growing up in Mumbai, January was the best month to have your birthday.  Most Indians don’t celebrate Christmas so there was no Christmas hangover to speak of, it was a new year, the weather was at it’s best and everybody was on a high.  How the tables have turned on me!  But as bleak as January is, come the 1st of February and it feels like everyone has a renewed vigour, a spring in their step, a positive outlook once again.  For me the 1st of February brings with it the hope of Spring and that’s what makes it special.  Today, it feels like the worst of winter is over and so to celebrate the coming of Spring I wanted to share my first Spring 2013 collection with you.  It’s a new brand from Sweden called Gabor & Friends and they make the most wonderful bed linen for babies, toddlers and kids.

"scandinavian bed linen kids"Stylish, sophisticated kids bed linen is hard to come by and that’s why when I saw Gabor & Friends I couldn’t wait to share.  On offer are duvet sets, blankets, crib bumpers and cushions.  The prints, like the bird one, are so pretty but the solid colours of sea green and salmon are equally appealing (my favourite I think is that Purple Rain snuggle blanket).  Most of the tones and shades used in Gabor & Friends’ Spring collection are soft, muted and understated except their cashmere-wool blankets that come in the boldest and brightest of colours.  Many of the pieces are 2 sided – a print on one side and a solid colour on the other giving you the option to change the look as you please.  I’m so loving this collection and looking at it really makes me feel like Spring is in the air.  Gabor & Friends don’t sell through their site but you’ll find their cashmere blankets at the lovely Scandinavian Minimall who will soon be stocking the rest of the collection.

Hello milky…

"polka dot kids bed linen"

There’s something about polka dots that grabs me each time.  Large polka dots, small polka dots, I love them all as long as the pattern is kept simple and isn’t overly colourful.  So when I saw the offerings by Hello Milky I was hooked.  Created by a mama from Melbourne, each and every piece in the collection is made entirely by her and her alone.  The designs are mainly teeny-tiny polka dots strewn over duvet covers, cushions and pillows although there are some with teeny-tiny stars too.  I’m loving the natural colour of the linen and the pairing with sometimes bright and sometimes dark polka dots or stars is just delightful.  It’s such a simple design but that’s exactly why Hello Milky’s creations are so appealing.  And seeing all that natural linen… I’ve remembered how much I love this fabric in it’s raw state (without dyes) and need to get some for my home urgently!

"cute baby cot bed sets"In January I visited Playtime Paris, a trade show bringing together some of the best kids brands from across Europe and USA.  One of the brands that seriously grabbed my attention was Smiling Planet.  I’ve known about them for a while and I’ve even featured their kids dinner plates but it was the new Smiling Planet kids bedding collection that had me swooning.  It’s about to launch in a few weeks so I couldn’t wait any longer to share it.

"elephant crib set"I’m loving the softness and subtlety of their designs.  The teeny tiny prints of elephants, alligators and stars against a crisp white background just works so well and looks so adorable. I’m also loving the cool buddha adorned bedding set too.  There is a feeling of pureness and innocence that shines through this bedding making it so perfect for a baby.  These crib sets and kids duvets will be available in about a months time from Smiling Planet’s online store.

"european nursery bedding sets"

Hand made in Italy, this kids bedding by Numero 74 is just exquisite.  In the collection there are blankets, quilts and duvet sets for babies and children.   With a strong vintage vibe, the bedding is made in limited editions so you know you’re getting something unique.  But Numero 74 is about more than bedding as they also sell very desirable vintage toys and furniture which I have featured before.

"Italian kids bedding sets"

There is an understated elegance to all the bedding that comes in a range of colours from brights to muted tones.  The fabrics have pretty floral prints or polka dots but there’s also lots in plain colours too.  Started by 2 friends who couldn’t find what they wanted to decorate their kids room, they decided to make or source their own and Numero 74 was born.  I’ve completely fallen for their entire collection especially those quilts pictured at the top.  Visit Numero 74 or for a different range try smallable.com
