One of the best parts of going back to school is getting new stationery supplies. It’s the perfect excuse to buy cute back to school stationery plus other bits like bags, lunch boxes and more.
I’ve picked out some super cute back to school supplies that are both practical and stylish. Many of these supplies come in different colours to the one pictured, so don’t be put off by the colour. Once you click through you’ll see the different versions.
I’ve never been a fan of baby journals because all the ones I’ve come across tend to be far too cutesy for my taste. But I do like the idea of recording memories especially from a baby’s first year. When Anya was born I couldn’t find a journal I liked, so I decided to create a large photo book where I recorded each month of her first year in photos and at the back I wrote about all the things I never wanted to forget. My photo book was by Apple and it was beautifully printed with all my photo’s and written memories. As much as I love my photo journal, I wish I had known about this baby journal by Pleased to Meet which I discovered a few days ago. It’s so sweet but not cutesy with it’s simple illustrations and bold, bright colours.
Pleased to Meet are the creation of a German couple who make other delightful journals like the Book of Friends which is lovely for slightly older babies and a wedding journal called ‘We did it’. They also have some really fun and chic limited edition prints with my favourite being the cat one even though I’m no cat lover! Then you’ve got other stationery including cards, pretty boxes and more. I found this lovely brand at Mokkasin which is a Swedish store I love and they have a selection of these goodies to buy.
Even though I’ve been married 10 years I’m still so very tempted by this beautiful wedding journal. Sigh!
My country obsession of the moment is Argentina. I’ve wanted to visit for as long as I can remember and I’m finally going to Buenos Aires in January (yaay!). To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement. Of course I’m madly researching places to see, things to do and most importantly where to shop and eat. It’s through this research I’ve discovered that not only does the food promise to be an absolute treat but the shopping too sounds amazing as there is some fabulous design coming out of Argentina for both big and little people. One of my favourite Argentinian discoveries for kids has been these adorable crochet toys. But now I’ve got another favourite… the wonderful Fanny & Alexander.
Fanny & Alexander is born out of the notion of good old fashioned play. They believe that today there are too many battery operated toys, video games and other toys that don’t encourage the child to think for themselves. So Fanny & Alexander wanted to go back to basics, to toys that encourage a child to be creative, to imagine, to make things up. And that’s exactly what they’ve done by creating beautiful wooden toys, cute art and stationery, knitted clothes and leather shoes. Their design is simple, minimal even but with plenty of warmth and lots of beauty. They’ve chosen a very simple colour palette of natural wood, rusts and greys which just adds to the aesthetic appeal and the warmth. Just look at those leather ballet shoes… how gorgeous are they?! And those Llama’s eating their pyjamas… wonderful! Luckily, they ship internationally so you don’t have to go to Argentina to get these goodies but since I am going, I will definitely be knocking on Fanny & Alexander‘s door.
Earlier in the week I was on the hunt for some washi tape. You know, the Japanese stuff that’s like masking tape but comes in the most wonderful colours and patterns imaginable and can be used for endless decorating purposes. I found my washi tape and I also found Papermash… a little London boutique full of wonderful, colourful, bright and happy paper goodies.
Their collection is small but everything in it is gorgeous. There are cards and posters from the Rifle Paper Co, there’s lots of washi tape in solid colours or patterned (I went for the neon ones in coral and turquoise and I love them), then you’ve got party supplies including pretty floral paper cups, stripey straws and gorgeous honeycomb balls. Papermash also have a few crafts that you can download for free and make yourself. I’ve got my eye on the super pretty doily wraps which I’m picturing as party favour holders for my daughter’s next birthday bash. Visit Papermash to see all their goodies.
When I first saw ‘Nina and other little things’ I was hooked. I have a bit of a stationery obsession anyway and when it’s as cute and pretty as this, there is no way I can resist. The whole collection is based around a little biscuit sized character called Nina and she’s described by her creators as “Nina is a “pupetta”. She was born from pieces of cloth: her body is made of natural hemp fabric, cloak of red wool & her face sown in black cotton. She’s like a little red hiding hood… almost invisible to many, she’s sometimes filled with sweet melancholy without knowing why, other times she’s exuberant, or plays lazily with her precious little pearls, or dances the “twist” with reels of cotton. Nina exists only if you see her, and not everyone can.”
Nina is from Italy and comes in the form of notebooks, colour pencils, paper games, rag books, handmade artwork for kids and more. Lots of sweet little things that will bring a big smile to your face. I love the stationary she adorns but I also love the charming and whimsical little character that she is. The the whole little red riding hood vibe makes it all even more adorable. To check out all the lovely goodies head to Nina and Other Little Things where you’ll find a list of stockists too.
If you’re a Red Riding Hood fan, have a look at these plates and bowls from Argentina. They’ve got quite a story behind them!
