I’ve always been a huge fan of hand knitted baby and kids clothes and these ones are my latest obsession.  Not trying to be fashionable or trendy, these are charming clothes made by hand and made to last through generations.  I’m lucky enough to have a mum-in-law who knits for Anya so I have bags full of baby knits that I’m saving for the next generation.  But if I didn’t, I know I would invest in some timeless classic pieces like these, that will never go out of style.  These knitted baby and kids clothes by Hambro & Miller currently go from 0 to 4 years but will soon go up to eight years and there’s even a homewares range coming soon.  All British made with love, the collection is quite special, don’t you think?

"knitted clothes for babies"Sometimes things land in my inbox that I can’t wait to share.  This is one of those times.  I’m loving everything from Seesaw, a  new kids brand from Spain.  What immediately stood out for me in this collection is the colours and the way these colours have been mixed and matched.  And of course I’ve fallen for those little knitted shorts that are so cute and playful.  I think all little kids should own clothes like these.  I also love that the clothes are mostly gender neutral and would look equally sweet on boy or girl.  Seesaw haven’t yet launched their website but you can find out more on their facebook page.

Cute baby knits…

"hand knitted baby clothes"Happy new year! Hope you all had a fun and relaxing Christmas break and a great new year.  I had lots of family time which was just what we needed.

During the holidays I was on a mission to find knitting patterns as my mother-in-law is an amazing knitter and asked me to find things I liked so she could make them for my daughter.  While I was hunting for patterns I also came across this little store with the sweetest hand knitted clothes for babies.  The simple, minimal aesthetic of the clothes really appealed to me and I also loved the colours for this time of year.  But most of all these baby knits really reminded me of the ones my mum-in-law knitted when my daughter was a newborn {I’ve saved them all in the hope that one day my grandchildren will wear them!}.  Apart from knits, Lili Grenadine also makes some cute little baby clothes like that adorable bodysuit and baby girl dress.  The collection only has a few pieces but each one is just lovely.

"hand knitted baby woollens"

Four years ago on an absolutely freezing December night, my daughter made her entry in to this world.  I can still so clearly remember how bitterly cold it was and it didn’t help that we had to head to the hospital at 2 am!  While I worried about a lot of things that night, the one thing I didn’t have to worry about was keeping the baby warm because the previous week my mother-in-law had presented me with a bagful of hand-knitted woolies.  I had beautiful cardigans, sweaters, hats and booties in a range of colours and besides feeling prepared for the cold, I couldn’t think of anything nicer to put my newborn in.

Fast forward 4 years and my mother-in-law still makes the most delightful knits for my daughter every winter.  I think every child deserves some hand-knitted clothes and that’s why I wanted to share these by Bieq as they are some of the nicest hand knits I’ve come across.  Bieq is a Dutch brand that sells only hand knitted clothes and accessories made from pure merino wool.  They specialise in baby hats but also make other clothing items for babies.  The colours are lovely and bold and the styles are nostalgic and classic.  I have touched and seen these clothes up close and they really don’t disappoint.  You’ll find this lovely range at Line + Liv.

"wooden toys"

My country obsession of the moment is Argentina.  I’ve wanted to visit for as long as I can remember and I’m finally going to Buenos Aires in January (yaay!).  To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement.  Of course I’m madly researching places to see, things to do and most importantly where to shop and eat.  It’s through this research I’ve discovered that not only does the food promise to be an absolute treat but the shopping too sounds amazing as there is some fabulous design coming out of Argentina for both big and little people.  One of my favourite Argentinian discoveries for kids has been these adorable crochet toys.  But now I’ve got another favourite… the wonderful Fanny & Alexander.

"wooden camera toy"

Fanny & Alexander is born out of the notion of good old fashioned play.  They believe that today there are too many battery operated toys, video games and other toys that don’t encourage the child to think for themselves.  So Fanny & Alexander wanted to go back to basics, to toys that encourage a child to be creative, to imagine, to make things up.  And that’s exactly what they’ve done by creating beautiful wooden toys, cute art and stationery, knitted clothes and leather shoes.  Their design is simple, minimal even but with plenty of warmth and lots of beauty.  They’ve chosen a very simple colour palette of natural wood, rusts and greys which just adds to the aesthetic appeal and the warmth.   Just look at those leather ballet shoes… how gorgeous are they?!  And those Llama’s eating their pyjamas… wonderful!  Luckily, they ship internationally so you don’t have to go to Argentina to get these goodies but since I am going,  I will definitely be knocking on Fanny & Alexander‘s door.

mama & baby…

"aqua ballet pumps,knit sweater"

I’ve been ignoring the mama’s of late so I wanted to do something to fix this and I also wanted to mix it up a bit.  This is a new series I’ve started where there’s something for mama and something matching, contrasting, complimentary, clashing (you get the idea) for baby or young kid.  Today it’s these summery ballet pumps with tiny little tennis racquet charms for mama and a beautiful cashmere sweater vest for baby.  Leave a comment and let me know if you like the ‘mama & baby…’ series.

I got the inspiration for this idea from the wonderful Oh joy blog who does a series called ‘this & that’.  Theirs is a bit different but it was the foundation for this idea.

"stylish kids clothes"

A few weeks ago I mentioned a shop called Flora & Henri.  It’s a little gem of a store in Seattle.  When I came across them I wrote about some amazing wooden toy boats that they were selling.  But their goodies don’t end there.  They have their own collection of kids clothes that are so, so beautiful.  Elegant, simple creations with bags of style is what you can expect.  I’m loving the mint coloured sweater with the pleated skirt, the faux fur jacket is another winner and then there are the shoes that come in the most delectable colours.  It’s all pretty fabulous stuff!  You can check out their entire collection at Flora and Henri and the good news is that they’re currently having a big sale at the moment.

"Alpaca wool clothes for babies and children"

This recent burst of beautiful hot weather may have fooled us in to hoping that summer’s on it’s way back.  Sadly, we all know that’s not going to happen.  But it’s not all bad news… once you see the offerings from Fournier you’ll be wishing for the cold to come now.  Fournier hand craft baby and childrens clothes in Bolivia.  Made from the finest baby alpaca wool, the clothes and accessories are super fashionable too which means they’re going to keep your bambinos warm in style.  Amongst the offerings are simple but trendy dresses and knitted hats, stunning handmade crocheted necklaces and the cutest little sheep bag I’ve seen.  I can picture the fuchsia dress being worn with knitted leggings and chunky boots for a super stylish winter look.  And to complete the look, wear one of the necklaces or scarfs on offer.  I’m so loving the necklace made of little hand knitted balls.   Visit Fournier to check out their entire range.  Prices start from around $15 and shipping is worldwide.

These are the super colourful and quirky creations by Teenytini.  Started by designer JK Lange, all the pieces are handmade with love, as she explains.  On offer are crochet and knitted clothes, soft toys and rugs.  Each piece is truly unique and very funky.  I’m especially loving the pinafore dress and the sunny yellow crochets shorts with polka dots.  How cute are the shorts?  The soft toys and dolls on offer are very unusual too and you can even buy mini handmade clothes for them.  Teenytini is fun, it’s stylish and definitely has the stand out from the crowd factor.  With the autumn chill in the air, I’m lusting after one of those multi-coloured cardi’s for myself.
