Last evening we saw a rainbow and the colour that really stood out for me was indigo. It’s such a rich and striking colour that you can’t help but take notice of it. I think it’s a great colour to wear for for most skin tones and works so well with so many other colours. Take that colour block kids skirt – how stunning does the pink look against the indigo? Here are a few beautiful indigo clothes and accessories that I came across for mama and baby:
Everybody needs a bit of pink in their lives especially for Summer. From pale pink to bright pink, there is a shade of pink out there for everyone. Here are a few pink things I’m currently loving for mamas and babies:
I clearly remember the day that I got my first pair of converse shoes as a teenager. I seriously thought I was the coolest kid on the block. They were bright pink (of course!) with high-tops and I don’t think I ever took them off. All my friends had them and I really felt that I had arrived! Looking back, I think the bright pink was way over the top but I was 13 or 14 and clearly not as cool as I thought I was! Even though I’m not much of a trainers kind of gal anymore, I still love these cool shoes but these days I’m much more in to the muted colours and I especially love the simple black ones because they go with everything and look pretty stylish too. Not long ago I also bought a mini red pair for my daughter who wasn’t as keen on these shoes as me until she saw the glitter ones and is now hankering for a pair of those. I have to admit I am partial to the gold ones and am tempted to get a pair for her and me. A little bit of sparkle for the coming winter months seems like a good idea to me.
So this week with these shoes in mind, I thought I would have a bit of fun with the mama & baby post… let mama sport these cool and classic trainers while baby plays with those DIY converse wearing hens! Aren’t they so quirky-cute?
This post is brought to you in association with John Lewis. All the words, opinions and ideas expressed here are mine.
Instead of my regular mama & baby post, this week I wanted to focus purely on mama’s. And in the coming weeks and months, occasionally I plan to bring you more stuff for just mama’s because I don’t do enough of that and fashion is fun. Besides, stylish babies and stylish mama’s go hand in hand! I’ve had one of my closest friends from Mumbai in town for the last week. While she claimed that she only came to spend time with me I think she had a secret mission too. That mission was to shop till she dropped. Returning from one of her mammoth shopping days out she told me about a new store she had spotted on Regents St. She said it looked amazing but didn’t go in because her credit card was already screaming from severe over-use (and possibly her husband too)! She said it was called ‘& other stories’ so of course I promptly looked it up and I was stunned. I want everything! & other stories is a new high-end venture by H&M that screams style. Their clothes and accessories wouldn’t look out of place in Vogue, yet the prices are still affordable. I’ve seen about 10 things I already want and I haven’t even visited the shop yet but I plan to go tomorrow simply because I can’t wait! The collection is big and includes clothes, bags, shoes (to die for), lingerie, beauty products and more. Apart from the London store, they have a few stores in some Western European cities but they also deliver worldwide so it doesn’t really matter where you are. I’m already a huge fan of H&M especially for my daughter but now I can see & other stories becoming a go to store each time I need (or want) a fashion fix! The only problem is finding a way to exercise some amount of control…
I’ve been ignoring the mama’s of late so I wanted to do something to fix this and I also wanted to mix it up a bit. This is a new series I’ve started where there’s something for mama and something matching, contrasting, complimentary, clashing (you get the idea) for baby or young kid. Today it’s these summery ballet pumps with tiny little tennis racquet charms for mama and a beautiful cashmere sweater vest for baby. Leave a comment and let me know if you like the ‘mama & baby…’ series.
I got the inspiration for this idea from the wonderful Oh joy blog who does a series called ‘this & that’. Theirs is a bit different but it was the foundation for this idea.
I haven’t written about any delicious finds for mama’s for ages. Shame on me! Today I’m righting my wrong by bringing you these oh so gorgeous shoes. I’m not a trainers kind’a gal so when I was pregnant and even after I wanted needed flat, comfy shoes that still had lashings of style and would be suitable for work and play. Also in the later months of pregnancy, bending’s near impossible so shoes need to be super easy to slip on and off. That’s when I discovered these little gems called French Soles. They make super stylish and comfy ballet pumps in every colour and design you can think of. When I dropped by the store, my eye’s were treated to a feast of deliciousness… from stunning nudes to shiny metallic’s to vibrant solid colours, they’ve got’em all. Be warned, choosing just one pair is hard, very, very hard. French Sole ballet pumps are available from their central London stores but also online and cost from £55 a pair plus delivery.
