girls brogue shoes

Ever since Anya started walking, we’ve had trouble buying shoes.  Her feet are very narrow which has meant regular high-street shoes have never worked for her.  Instead I have had to seek out European shoes which for some reason are narrower than British shoes (I wonder why).  We all know that getting a good fit with shoes is so important especially for growing feet; I’ve even been told that getting well fitted shoes for a child is as important as looking after their teeth.  Because of this I never compromised on what I bought her even though it often meant spending more than I wanted to.

affordable shoes for kids

Recently I discovered Pisamonas shoes from Spain and I was keen to try them out as they are European shoes that are very affordable too.  They generously sent me this cute pair of brogues that I love not only because you can wear them with anything – skirts, jeans, dresses – but also because they fit really well.  These shoes come in a range of colours but I really like the neutral tones that can be paired with fun socks like these polka dotted ones.  Anya’s also worn these shoes with the brightest pink socks and they look really cool.  I’ve been putting off teaching her to tie her laces which I knew I needed to do sooner rather than later so these shoes have come in really hand for that too!  She is quite happy to practice away on them.

affordable shoes for children

Pisamonas have a big range of affordable kids shoes in lots of styles and colours for babies, boys and girls and have just recently launched in the UK.  As part of their launch, they are offering £10 off your first purchase (of £40 or more) till 28th February 2015 and they ship worldwide.  Apart from the brogues that I chose for Anya, I really like the Avarca Menorcan sandals especially in the palest pink.  Those are definitely on my wish list for the Summer.  You can visit Pisamonas to see more or else check out this cute video which shows a range of their shoes.

P.S. Anya insisted on jumping in a big puddle right before we took photos that is why the tips of her shoes are wet!

"beautiful swimwear for girls"A couple of months ago I was on a mission to buy my daughter a swimsuit.  I kind of left it to the last minute so ordering online wasn’t an option and I also felt like a trip to the shops.  I set off excitedly, dreaming of bright colours and stylish cuts and started wondering how I would choose just one swimsuit.  I hit the first shop which was disappointing but I still had hope.  Four shops later and I began to despair.  The choice out there was really uninspiring, bland and boring.  Maybe because the summer collections weren’t fully in or maybe because kids swimsuits are just designed to be dull.  I had to buy something so I did but I went home feeling flat and disappointed.  Then, last week I came across this new Spring Summer 2013 collection by Little Creative Factory and my faith in kids swim gear was fully restored!  How gorgeous is this swimwear?  I want it in my size, please.

"stylish summer hats for kids"Little Creative Factory is the creation of 2 Spanish mama’s who make swimwear, some clothes and lots of wonderful hats for kids.    The 2 creative mums say they get their inspiration from observing the little things in life and from the enthusiasm, freshness and spontaneity of their little girls.  I love the classic styles that ooze understated glamour and are just so darn chic!  Amongst their offerings are some really adorable balloon-style drawstring tops, some cute baby bloomers and a hat collection that is just wow.  All the clothes would make for perfect beachwear or just dreamy and chic summer wear.  Little Creative Factory don’t yet sell online but you can contact them through their website to find out more.  Next time I’m swimwear shopping for Anya, I know who’s door I’ll be knocking on.

"spanish baby clothes"Happy Friday guys and hope the sun shines for you this weekend!

"play tent for kids"I’m loving this dreamy new store from Spain called Bel & Soph.  It’s full of soft linen cushions, cosy quilts and cute decor items for babies and kids.  Created by 2 mums who wanted something unique and special for their kids, they recently launched their store and the result is just lovely.

"wooden toy storage boxes"

"linen cloud cushions"While I’ve seen many a cloud cushion, I love these for their simplicity, their colours and the rawness of the linen fabric.  I’m also loving the little wooden storage boxes in natural wood combined with pretty coloured backs.  Their designs are simple but there are lots of gorgeous little details like the pom pom ties on the play tent and the raw edges to the cushions that make them so lovely.  Much of their collection is in soft grey’s, dusty pinks and cool ivory’s giving it all a very chic look.

"painted headboard for kids bed"Everything on offer from Bel & Soph is understated and very classy.  Any kids room decorated with their goodies will be one magical space!

"Spanish baby clothes"Minimalism, especially in kids clothes, always grabs my attention.  1 + in the family is a new brand from Spain that expertly combines minimalism with practicality and comfort.  They offer a small range of stylish and wearable clothes for 0-24 month old babies.  I’m loving the combination of stripes and solids as well as the bold pink in the collection.  1 + in the family is the creation of Gemma Mases, a freelance designer who launched her first collection at the same time as her little niece was born late last year.  It’s only available in Spain so far but I’m sure it won’t be long before it hits the rest of Europe.

The circus collection…

"circus themed kids clothes"

There’s something so magical about the circus.  I remember going as a kid and the anticipation of going was just as exciting as being there.  I can’t wait to take my daughter but if I’m honest, it’s not just her I want to take, I’m dying to go myself.  The kid in me is so excited about visiting a circus after all these years.  And that’s why I fell for this new Circus Collection by Monikako.  I love the way that they’ve brought the fun, the magic and the charm of a circus in to these clothes.  The collection is very quirky without being over the top and and while the colours aren’t the most circus like, they work so well with detailed black illustrations.  My favourite piece has to be the pale green skirt but I’m also loving the clown trousers and the ruffle neck top.  I’m sure every kid out there would delight in dressing up in these clothes.  I loved Monikako’s first collection which had a safari theme and this one I think is just as fantastic.  I can’t wait to see what they do next but they’ve found an ardent fan in me.

A house in the clouds…

November 21, 2012

"dolls house shelves"When it comes to kids decor, all manner of animals have adorned so many different objects.  The fox, owl and elephant have been some of the most popular but I have even come across some unexpected animals like anteaters and bulls.  But now, these {lovely} beasts have got competition in the form of the humble cloud.  I mean how many wonderful versions of cloud pillows have there been?  While I love the whole animal thing, I think I may just love the cloud a teeny bit more.  There’s something quite cuddly and comforting about the shape with it’s soft curves and ageless appeal.  So when I saw this cloud shelf and felt cloud mobile, I had to find out more.

I discovered Coccoli home, a new Spanish shop that makes not only these cloudy creations but also those fun house shelves that double up as dolls houses.  There are also some adorable raindrop wall hooks and lots of colourful wall stickers on offer.  I love the idea of lining up some of these dolls houses with the cloud mobiles hanging above them.  It would {almost} be like having a house in the clouds!  And when your childs grown out of playing with dolls houses, the shelves can be moved to any room in the house as cute storage shelves.  The Coccoli home collection is sold through their own site and also exclusively through the lovely My Little Square.

"wooden skipping ropes"

Once in a while a toy comes along that makes my heart skip a beat.  This is one of those times.  I mean how gorgeous are these skipping ropes?  They seriously look good enough to eat… think raspberry ice-cream or lemon sorbet!  As a kid, skipping was one of my favourite activities and I remember devising all kinds of random skipping games and competitions.  Seeing these ropes, I’m tempted to get back in to it but since my energy levels won’t be quite what they were, it might have to be my daughter instead.

There is a wonderful store in Barcelona called Nobodinoz and they have just started making their own line of wooden toys which include a beautiful bowling set and these ropes.  Both are made of 100% birch wood and use non-toxic paints and varnishes.  There are more toys to come in this range but these 2 will be available at the end of November.  I can’t wait to see what else Nobodinoz will create and in the meantime I’m adding this rope (pink or teal… can’t decide!) to my daughter’s Christmas gift list.

"handmade baby crib"

I was browsing Room to Bloom (a cool interiors site for kids rooms) when a crib caught my eye.  I dug further and and when I saw all these gorgeous cots, I was smitten.  Every cot is handcrafted in Spain by a family who conceive, design and then make each one.  They haven’t even opened their shop doors yet but by the looks of things to come, I am already a big fan.  These cots are so simple yet so striking and unusual.  I love the idea of the spider netting which was inspired by the thought of facing your fears.  Called the PEPE crib, I’m also loving the teal and orange colour combo.

"handmade spanish crib"

This one is called the THEO crib and it has bags of rustic charm.  I can picture this crib feeling at home in any setting from modern to vintage.

"circus themed baby crib"

This is the CIRKUS crib which is still a work in progress.  They plan to paint it red and white and I can’t wait to see the finished article.  In addition to cribs, this Spanish family will also be offering other kids furniture like a pretty butterfly adorned screen but that’s all they’ve revealed so far.  Their collection is called xo-in my room and I just can’t wait till they launch their store to see everything on offer.
