"vintage furniture and toys for kids"

This is probably one of the best vintage shops I have come across.  They have a lovely selection of vintage toys and furniture for kids as well as some stunning vintage pieces for the home too.   That vintage child’s desk is stunning in it’s simplicity as is that ride-on wooden car.  Most of the pieces in this shop are one of a kind and very hard to find.  If you love vintage furniture then I highly recommend this vintage shop.

"vintage furniture for kids"My parents never kept any of my baby toys or clothes.  This never mattered to me until I had a child and now I really wish they had.  My father was in a job where he moved countries every 3 to 4 years so when the time came for us all to up and go, big clear outs were inevitable.  And besides I think my mother is a bit of a divester.  She’s never been one to hoard her possessions and loves getting rid of clutter.  But she did keep one adorable little vintage chair that was used by her and her sister when they were babies, then by my brother and me and now it’s Anya’s.  Anya loves being told stories about her mama using the chair.  That’s the wonderful thing about good vintage furniture and toys… they can be passed down from generation to generation and they gather so many wonderful memories along the way.

I love the thought of passing down furniture and toys but if you don’t have your own, the next best thing is finding a good vintage shop.  And today I wanted to share my latest find – Roger Bontemps.  It’s a new French vintage shop that looks super promising.  Their online doors aren’t even open yet but should be opening in the next week.  They will be selling vintage kids furniture, toys and more but they have also created their own small line of vintage inspired clothes, bed linen and accessories.  I couldn’t find too many pictures but I liked what I did see especially that rattan crib and the bed linen in it.  Can’t wait to see more…

A vintage tricycle…

"vintage tricylce kids"

I’m finally back from my wonderful holidays but have had a rather hectic Monday morning.  So I thought I would do a quick Monday post and share this charming vintage tricycle with you.   As you know, I do love a good vintage find and fell for this tricycle the minute I saw it.  It’s from the 1920’s and looks beautifully made.  I’m sure it would be as much of a  joy to ride as it is to look at.

"vintage toy wonderland"One of my favourite kids style magazines is Milk.  I love browsing through the pages packed with creative ideas, the latest fashion and decor for kids and so much more.  Only slight problem is that a lot of it is in French but that doesn’t detract from the joy of looking at the pretty pictures.  Today I was browsing their site when this vintage wonderland grabbed me.  What an amazing, nostalgic, creative and quirky wonderland it is.  Milk Magazine gave carte blanche to the creative duo behind two of my absolute favourite vintage shops and asked them to stage the Christmas of their dreams.  I think they’ve staged the Christmas of my dreams too!  Just wonderful… "vintage toys"A lot of the vintage furniture and toys of yesteryear pictured are available from Les Petites Bohemes.  It’s the creative duo behind these stores that created this magical kids wonderland with Simon Wardavoir taking the photos.  I hope you love it as much as I do.  Happy Christmas!

mama & baby…

"vintage wicker dolls pram"

This week’s picks for mama & baby… let mama decorate with this sleek hand woven wicker chair while baby plays with that vintage inspired wicker dolls pram.

"vintage kids room inspiration"

I have a huge soft spot for vintage goodies especially when they’re as unique as these offerings.  As you may know, I’m a big fan of the poetic French kids vintage store called Les Petit Bohemes which I’ve featured before and now I’ve discovered a second similar store called Desaccord.  The two stores are definitely connected but have different offerings and today I want to share the wonderful world of Desaccord… a world filled with whimsy and quirk, one that is unique and original and full of vintage treasures for kids.  Pictured above is a kids space using furniture and toys from Desaccord and what a wonderful room it is.

Those industrial sofa benches, that crochet light, those quirky circus animals, that vintage dolls pram… what’s not to love?!  There is not a piece in this magical shop that I don’t wish to own.  I really don’t know where they find this stuff but what I do know is that each and every piece is a one off and so unusual.  Desaccord is very much on my list of the most covetable vintage shops ever.

"vintage toys and chairs for kids"

I love a good vintage shop for kids and when I discovered the French Numero 74 I was smitten.  They have some fabulous vintage toys like typewriters, cars and weighing scales, they also have some cool vintage chairs and desks for kids.  Add to this their handmade bedding and cushions and the store is definitely one to check out.  Their selection isn’t huge but I like that because they’re not trying to sell anything and everything vintage, just carefully chosen pieces all of which are desirable.  I’m loving the red retro rocking chair and the gold typewriter and I also love their crochet blankets and kids bed sets.  All the pieces are sourced from across Europe and USA and are from around the 1900’s to 1970’s and most are kept in their original condition to maintain their authenticity.  To see the entire collection visit Numero 74 and enjoy their lovely finds.

Here’a another of my favourite French vintage boutiques for kids

"vintage kids furniture and toys from France"Ooh la, la… this shop is French and fabulous!  Filled with gorgeous vintage finds but also some very carefully chosen new things to compliment the vintage feel of the store.  I love the way the offerings are presented and photographed and I love the offerings themselves.  It’s a space that is unique and very, very interesting.  At Les Petits Bohemes you’ll find one off vintage furniture for kids including chairs and cots and lots of storage furniture.  You’ll also find some unusual and cool vintage toys and vintage nursery decor bits.  Then there are the new pieces which include clothes and some wonderful soft toys and hand made dolls

If you’re putting together a vintage nursery or just looking for some vintage inspiration for a kids room, then Les Petits Bohemes is unmissable.  They’re based in France as I’m sure you’ve guessed from the name and they ship worldwide.

"orange style for children"

Today I’m feeling the love for orange.  Maybe because Halloween is nearly here or maybe because I think it’s a fabulous colour for autumn.  I’ve picked out some orange goodies from across the web.  Some are to wear, others are to play with and there are also some orange things to decorate a nursery or kids room with.
