Introducing Corby Tindersticks… a new British brand full of quirkiness. Corby Tindersticks has been on my radar since they launched a few months ago and I’ve been meaning to share ever since. They create hand made soft toys, felt posters with embroidery and some tee’s too. It’s their first collection but it stands out from the crowd with it’s sense of humour and it’s uniqueness. Each character has a story to tell… the tall one with the long dangly legs is called ‘Pick n Mix’ and he’s renowned for his sweet tooth as well as his rather ungainly legs while the chubby one has eaten far too many nuts and ended up with a small head and a big belly. This collection draws on the very British sense of humour but has bags of appeal for anyone with a sense of fun. Corby Tindersticks is quirky, it’s cool and will bring a smile to the faces of kids and adults too.

Quirky toys with a big sense of humour

The circus has come to town!
May 11, 2012
The circus is in town! This new collection of joyful circus toys and pillows is the creation of super talented mama, Anabel. In the collection you’ll find a range of clowns, a circus tent, some circus animals and my favourite, the ringmaster pictured on the left. All the toys can double up as pillows… I’m thinking super sweet sleeping companions for any little kid. Made from baby alpaca wool, bamboo and cotton they are hand knitted in Bolivia so not only are the goodies very cute, they’re environmentally friendly too. Anabel goes a step further by employing women artisans in Bolivia who wouldn’t otherwise have had the chance of earning. These toys are toys with a conscience, making them even more desirable. In addition to the new circus collection, Anabel makes lovely baby alpaca wool clothes and the most gorgeous crochet and knit necklaces for little girls. Visit Fournier to see the entire collection.
Sweetest woolly creatures
April 24, 2012
I’ve had my eye on these cute little plush toys for ages. When I first spotted them, I was charmed by their sweetness and their sleepy expressions. I can’t stop admiring the hedgehogs with their tiny hot pink noses but even the dog and the fox are just adorable. They’re soft toys that double up as decorative throw cushions too as they’re quite large. They’re made by a UK based designer called Sara Carr who makes each piece to order and they’re all made out of pure lambswool with lots of love and care. Sara’s collection is small but perfectly (and so cutely) formed. Visit Sara Carr’s store to see the rest of these ever so sweet creatures.
Quirky hand made dolls
March 19, 2012
I was browsing etsy as I often do when a thumbnail of one of these dolls caught my eye. I clicked to have a better look and I was confronted by these whimsical hand made dolls. I love that they’re so quirky and unusual, I love their long dangly legs and I’m also feeling the love for their ‘stand out from the crowd’ outfits. These contemporary dolls are hand made here in the UK by a lady called Kiran Patel who says ‘their clothing style is borrowed from modern trends… and translated with intricate style detailing making each piece interesting and original in their own way.’ These dolls are large, measuring around 40cm’s and would make funky soft toys or would look cool as decorative dolls too. To find out more, head to Kooky Handmade on etsy.
Sweet: Hand made dolls from California
March 5, 2012
I’ve got an ever growing obsession with hand made dolls. How can I resist when I come across such cuties like these?! I found these ones over at a shop called Pretty Little Things. Created by Californian designer and textile artist Lori Marie, these hand made cloth dolls are so adorable. Lori also makes other sweet little things like these elephant garlands, little girly pouches and wallets and some cool feather crowns for dressing up fun. All these delightful goodies come in bright and bold colours and would add a splash of fun to any little girls room. Head to Lori Marie’s shop to find these dolls and all the other cuties!
Hand made dolls so cute!
January 16, 2012
I was never very in to dolls when I was growing up. I had a big brother and I guess I wanted to be like him so I played with his boy toys. Fast forward several years (I won’t say how many!) and I’m now obsessed with dolls especially since I keep finding gorgeous ones like these. How sweet are they?! These handmade dolls by Warm Sugar are crafted in Illinois and dressed in the cutest clothes made out of a mix of vintage and designer fabrics. I love their whole hat and scarf ensemble and I just love their adorable expressions. Shannon, the designer also offers custom dolls where you can choose hair and eye colours, skin tone and colour of clothes so your bambino can choose exactly what she wants. To check out these dolls head to Warm Sugar on etsy.
Jane Foster: Cool soft toys with a retro vibe
January 4, 2012
I’ve had my eye on Jane Foster’s goodies for a while now. When I first spotted her wares dotted around a kiddy room on Ohdeedoh I liked what I saw – bright, bold, happy designs with a strong retro vibe that will appeal to mama’s and kids alike. Jane is a Devon based mama of one who has a love for style from the 50’s and 60’s and this shows through in her work. She makes soft toys, kids room art and some homewares too. I’m loving the handmade softies especially the alphabet dachshund and the love cats. Soft toys they may be but they’re equally cool decorative pillows too. You can visit Jane Foster Designs to check out the entire collection.
Etsy love: Cool hand made soft toys
December 19, 2011
I love Etsy! I’ve been known to disappear in to the world of Etsy for hours on end, which is exactly what I did this weekend. There is so much creativity and talent on there and that means I always find something that I can’t wait to share with you. Today it’s all about Colette Bream, a store filled with super stylish, cool and quirky goodies for the kids. On offer are hand made soft toys that can double up as playful cushions too, there are some dressing up bits, some lovely toddler bedding sets and the most adorable party hat. For now, I’m concentrating on the hand made softies that are on offer… I love the little house cushion and the bird in boots one is pretty cool too. Then there is the tree cushion and the clouds which are also just lovely. I could go on but I’ll let you discover the rest over at Colette Bream’s Etsy store.
P.S. If you’d like to see some more hand made soft toys from Etsy, check out these cool lions and this gorgeous elephant and his friends.
Meet the gorgeous Ludovico and his friends
November 9, 2011
Today I thought I’d take a little break from the 2011 Christmas gift guide (I’ll be back with more from tomorrow). And besides I couldn’t wait to share these hand made soft toy cuties from Portugal. I came across Ludovico last week and it was love at first sight. Isn’t he just the cutest elephant soft toy ever? And his friends Ernesto and Palmira aren’t far behind in the cuteness stakes. It’s not just their adorable looks that have me smitten, but also their outfits… Ludovico’s sweet braces and shorts, Palmira’s ensemble of polka dots and stripes and Ernesto’s gorgeous lacy collar and trendy skinny trousers. You can’t help but fall for these hand made cuties. They’re made by Pink NouNou who offer some gorgeous hand made dolls too. So tempting…
