This morning I came across a photo of some kids from the 1970’s which I promptly shared on my facebook page. I’m a child of the 70’s and this photo brought back lots of memories of hairstyles, flairs, big cuffs and all that was so distinctive about the style of that decade. I can still picture my mother wearing the flair-iest jeans I’ve ever seen paired with a heavily patterned floral shirt! It’s such fun browsing images of that time and marveling at the styles with equal amounts of humour and appreciation. All these thoughts and memories reminded me of Petite Vintage Boutique which has one of the best selections of vintage clothes for kids that I’ve ever seen. The clothes here aren’t re-creations but are actual clothes from the 60’s and 70’s that have been used. Dominique, the owner hunts down the best pieces always keeping quality in mind, so most of her pieces are in tip-top condition. As they’re all original pieces, they are truly one of a kind so when they’re gone, they’re gone. While I wouldn’t dress Anya in vintage on a daily basis, I’d love to add a few pieces like these to her wardrobe. What fun!

Dreaming of a patterned life…
April 10, 2013
Lately I’ve been feeling the need to brighten up my wardrobe not just with colour but with bold prints and patterns. I often wear solid blocks of colour but I don’t tend to wear many prints. Now I’ve got the urge to go out and buy striking patterns and prints in bold and bright colours and mix and match them without any rules. Whether I’ll be brave enough to do this is a completely different matter but when I saw this styling for kids spaces it reminded me that you can make contrasting patterns and colours work together. These gorgeous spaces are created by interior stylist Linda Ahman. You’ve got graphic patterns against floral ones, hot pinks with orange, stripes with polka dots and it all comes together so seamlessly. Would you try something like this in your kids room or even in your wardrobe? Seeing these images I’m now dreaming of having patterns and prints everywhere!
DIY: Floppy sheep soft toys
April 9, 2013
I saw these gorgeous floppy DIY sheep soft toys and I had to share them with you. If you are a knitter, how can you resist making them? I’ve come across these sheep before to buy but making them yourself is even better. You can choose your colours, the sizes and you can make as many as you want. I love the colours chosen here but the choice is yours. My mother-in-law is the knitter in this family so I’ll be asking her to make a few of these. I discovered these softies at Fawn & Forest but for full instructions visit Lebenslustiger.
Dots and stripes…
April 8, 2013
Last month while I was in India I went to see my cousin’s baby who is just 6 months old. She was absolutely adorable with her huge eyes and cheeky little grin. While I was there she was taken in for a bath and came out wearing a simple striped bodysuit looking all fresh and smelling of that wonderful ‘just bathed baby smell’. I don’t often get broody but that special baby smell did it to me! I realised that it’s been a while since I’ve featured something purely for the tiniest little ones and so I went looking and couldn’t resist these delicious onesies and booties. Simple stripes and polka dots in the freshest colours make for lovely Spring essentials. They’re made by Nature Baby exclusively for J. Crew and are made of organic cotton and 100% chemical free materials so are perfect for a babies delicate skin. If only I had seen these before I think I would have been unable to resist the the bright yellow polka dot booties and matching onesie.
Obsessing over black & white…
April 5, 2013
I remember when I was around 13, there was a girl in my school who only ever wore black. Occasionally she would wear little hints of white or grey but the dominating colour from head to toe was always black. I seriously thought she was the coolest kid I’d ever seen! I’ve always loved black and even several years on this obsession with black has never waned. When I see a piece of clothing in a shop, it can come in every colour under the sun and I will always be drawn to the black one. Over the years I’ve taught myself to have more colour in my wardrobe especially for Spring and Summer but in Winter it’s back to black! Now this black obsession is creeping in to my decorating ideas and I’m thinking of re-doing my daughters room in black and white. So I’ve been looking around for kids room decorations that are not only black and white but are also simple, unfussy and uncluttered in their design. These were my top picks:
1. Heart poster… 2. Polka dot wall stickers… 3. Sheep mobile… 4. Striped blanket… 5. Striped cloud cushion… 6. Tica chair… 7. Mickey Mouse pillow.
Hope you all have a great weekend! See you next week…

Spring bunnies, butterflies & more…
April 3, 2013
I don’t know about you but I am beyond ready for Spring. So far I haven’t bought anything for this elusive season but yesterday I saw a gorgeous coral top in a sheer fabric and I couldn’t resist. I convinced myself that if I bought it, Spring would come sooner. I know I’m getting desperate and even more so when I see all the wonderful colours, fabrics and prints on offer at the moment. One collection that’s really caught my eye is Soft Gallery’s new Spring/Summer 2013 line for kids. This isn’t the first time I’ve fallen for Soft Gallery and I suspect it won’t be the last.

Soft Gallery’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection called ‘PURE’ is dreamy and playful. Some of the clothes are in pale solid colours while others are embellished with butterflies, rabbits and other animals illustrated by artists from around the world. The colors are soft, the drawings are bold and the overall feeling is one of a playful adventure. I love the Audrey Hare dress which has a bubble like shape and a beautiful peachy-pink illustration of a rabbit. I also love the tennis playing, wolf like creature on the grey tee for a boy. Now, if only Spring would show it’s face we could all indulge in some delightful Spring fashion like this.
A modern crib…
April 2, 2013
Oeuf NYC is a firm favourite on this blog and I’ve been meaning to share their latest cot offering – The Rhea Crib. I loved it when I saw it especially in the darker walnut colour. It’s modern style, clean lines and dark splendour got me at first sight.
While admiring the Rhea crib I also came across Oeuf’s new Spring/Summer 2013 campaign which shows lots of fun and colourful nurseries and kids rooms. I’m completely loving their choice of wallpapers especially the black floral one which is so impactful. And that neon dotted wall is another lovely touch. I love finding and sharing cool kids rooms and Oeuf’s new catalogue is full of playful and pretty ideas.
