One of my absolute favourite brands from the States has to be Wovenplay. Dreamy and theatrical clothes, filled with wonder and imagination is what you get from each collection and this latest Autumn/Winter 2012 one is no exception. I’m loving the cape and the neon pink dotted through the collection. Actually, who am I kidding… I’m loving it all. That tutu dress with the electric blue top is so striking and I know if my daughter owned it she would never take it off! Little girls love dressing up and with these clothes you can do just that everyday, not just at dressing up play times. This new collection is available now from the wonderful Line + Liv boutique.

From Buenos Aires, with love…
October 19, 2012
My country obsession of the moment is Argentina. I’ve wanted to visit for as long as I can remember and I’m finally going to Buenos Aires in January (yaay!). To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement. Of course I’m madly researching places to see, things to do and most importantly where to shop and eat. It’s through this research I’ve discovered that not only does the food promise to be an absolute treat but the shopping too sounds amazing as there is some fabulous design coming out of Argentina for both big and little people. One of my favourite Argentinian discoveries for kids has been these adorable crochet toys. But now I’ve got another favourite… the wonderful Fanny & Alexander.
Fanny & Alexander is born out of the notion of good old fashioned play. They believe that today there are too many battery operated toys, video games and other toys that don’t encourage the child to think for themselves. So Fanny & Alexander wanted to go back to basics, to toys that encourage a child to be creative, to imagine, to make things up. And that’s exactly what they’ve done by creating beautiful wooden toys, cute art and stationery, knitted clothes and leather shoes. Their design is simple, minimal even but with plenty of warmth and lots of beauty. They’ve chosen a very simple colour palette of natural wood, rusts and greys which just adds to the aesthetic appeal and the warmth. Just look at those leather ballet shoes… how gorgeous are they?! And those Llama’s eating their pyjamas… wonderful! Luckily, they ship internationally so you don’t have to go to Argentina to get these goodies but since I am going, I will definitely be knocking on Fanny & Alexander‘s door.

Hop like a bunny…
October 17, 2012
With Halloween coming up there’s lots of talk about costumes and dressing up. What are your kids going to be wearing? If you’ve got a teeny-tiny family member then I think I may have found just the outfit in these absolutely adorable bunny all in ones. They’re not creepy, they’re cute and of course they can be worn long after Halloween has passed. I’m {almost} wishing I had a baby young enough for these. I can just picture a little one toddling around with that fluffy tail sticking out behind him… cute overload!
The knitted bunny rompers and jumpers are the latest offering by Stella McCartney kids. I love that they have the right amount of cute and quirky without being cutesy in any way. The colours too are understated and go so well with the creamy white bunny shape and pom pom tail. I especially love the grey which would work for baby boy or girl. So this Halloween, let your baby do {super} cute instead of creepy.
Cool chunky knits…
October 15, 2012
Come the winter months, I love throwing on a chunky knit with a pair of skinny jeans and knee high boots. It’s an effortless everyday look that works every time. I wanted to create a mini version of this look for my daughter but finding nice chunky knits for kids proved to be impossible until I stumbled across Cotton and Milk. A relatively new line of {mainly} knitwear for kids, there is an understated style about these pieces mixed with a touch of vintage which I’m loving. Created by British designer Justine Glanfield who is based in Brussels, Cotton and Milk make stylish knits for both boys and girls. Apart from the wonderful clothes, I love the creative way in which they’re presented too. You can see and buy their current collection over at Line + Liv {a great boutique for kids clothes} or visit Cotton and Milk to see previous collections too.
Cute & cosy…
October 12, 2012
I love those chilly autumn evenings when my daughter and I curl up on the sofa, wrap a blanket around ourselves and read story after story. She chooses her favourites and these days Jack {and the beanstalk} is the man of the moment. While I am very much a fair weather kind a’ gal there are certain things that I adore about colder weather and this is one of those things. Sadly my ‘curling up on the sofa’ blanket is shedding too much so I need a replacement. I went in search and I found these super cute and playful ones by Colette Bream. I’m already a massive Colette fan as I think she has the magic touch when it comes to designing for kids… never too cutesy, always fun and always very stylish. If you haven’t seen her bed linen, you need to… I’m talking wow stuff!
Born out of a desire to rid her daughters room of anything that wasn’t natural {so no plastic, polyester etc}, Colette started designing her goodies and her latest addition are these blankets. Made of 100% organic cotton, the fabric is described as being ‘extremely soft’ and ‘feels heavenly’ against the skin. And then of course there are the colours and the designs. I love the quirky little characters on each blanket and I love the colours too. They are simple in style but as always simple design is by far the best. I’m seriously tempted as I know my daughter would love one and I can so picture the 2 of us getting cosy under any of these delightful blankets. Colette Bream has worked her magic yet again!

Delightful art for kids…
October 9, 2012
Before I started writing this blog I never knew about the wonderful world of kids art. I knew there was art for kids but I thought it was all about the over-cutesy kind of stuff that I totally shy away from. When I discovered the range of art on offer I realised how wrong I had been. I felt like I had stumbled upon a secret world, a world only open to parents in the know. In this world I found imagination that knew no bounds, illustrations that were a feast for the eyes and magical drawings that were sometimes happy, sometimes poignant and sometimes just plain funny. Recently I stumbled across Society 6 and found the largest collection of kids art in one place. I spent ages browsing and found art for every taste and budget. Society 6 have gathered together a huge range of artists from across the globe that produce work not just for kids but for adults too. They have so much choice and variety that it’s impossible to choose a favourite. So, I’ve picked out a few blue-green coloured prints that I was charmed by but there’s a whole load more for you to explore. I think from now on Society 6 will be my first port of call when I need some art for a child.
Thinking pink…
October 5, 2012
My daughter turns 4 in a couple of months and I asked her what kind of party she would like. Her answer, without a seconds hesitation was ‘I want a pink party’! So, a pink {and white} party it will be. I’ve been searching the web for ideas to create a tasteful pink party and I have found many like these cute bunny cookies. The plan is to have lots of white in there too, to balance out the pink. I’ve started putting together a pink party inspiration board on pinterest and if you’re on there you’ll know just how fun and perfect pinterest is for something like this. So that was the inspiration behind today’s post. I’m seeing pink everywhere and thought I would share a few things I’ve liked in the last few days; some are party related but others are just lovely pink things. I hope you like them too and have a wonderful weekend wherever you are.
1. Adorable bunny cookies with fluffy little tails… 2. A cute owl poster for a kids room… 3. A cool pink wooden tank toy that even I feel like playing with… 4. Neon and wood mini elf decorations for Christmas or any party.
