I dig denim!

denim overalls for girls

Do you have a momform?  By that I mean a mom uniform!  I certainly do.  For the school run at least I think I am almost always in skinny jeans and a tee/top in Summer paired with ballet pumps and in Winter it’s back to those skinnies but with boots and chunky knits.  I love my denim but I seem to stick to jeans only and I’ve kind of fallen in to the same trap when it comes to Anya.  The only denim in her wardrobe is a pair of skinny jeans.  But there are so many more denim styles out there to love for women and especially for kids – from denim dungarees to skirts and even denim dresses.  This Summer I want to get out of our jean rut and explore other denim styles.  To start with I went looking for some cute denim looks for babies kids and I found some gorgeous stuff.

denim dungarees for children

How cute are those denim cat dungarees?  Or for older kids I’m loving that faded vintage denim dungaree.  Denim is so comfy and easy to wear and it goes with anything and everything so even if the kids insist on choosing their clothes, they can’t go wrong.  And those frilly little denim bloomers – so adorable!  The best news of all is that a lot of these clothes are on sale at the moment and as denim can be worn year round, you don’t have to worry about the seasons changing.  Have you seen any fab denim clothes for kids and or women?  I’m looking for a light denim jumpsuit kind of like that kids mechanic style one pictured at the top – so cool, no?  Here is where you will find the looks I’ve picked:

 1. cat dungaree shorts | 2. light chambray playsuit | 3. denim baby bloomers | 4. denim dress with gold detail | 5.  vintage denim dungaree shorts | 6.  soft denim baby romper

blue baby nursery decor ideas

With my current house renovation project I seem to be spending half my life on interiors sites, pinterest and browsing through interiors magazines.  I’m definitely not complaining!  Recently I’ve noticed a bit of a trend for using deep, dark blues in interiors like indigo and petrol blue.  These deep blues are not colours you find everywhere so they are still quite unusual and really stand out.  While they look great in dining rooms and living rooms, I think these blues would look equally fabulous in a nursery or kids room – for boy or girl.  So I felt inspired to put together a mood board for a kids room using various shades of deep blue with touches of lighter blue.

One of my first ports of call for finding cute things for kids rooms in the UK is Petit Home one of my sponsors.  It’s run by a French lady who has a real mix of styles in her shop so there is something for every taste.  From quirky pieces like that rabbit light to more understated things like the bed linen she has.  I picked a few of my favourite pieces and mixed them up with with some others to create this blue kids room moodboard.  Here’s where you’ll find everything:

1.  storage baskets | 2. elephant mobile | 3. moon poster | 4. stars garland  | 5. cat print cushion | 6. star cushion | 7.  bow print bedlinen | 8. baby rabbit night light | 9. play tent

"best colours to wear in Summer"

How gorgeous are these shades for Summer?  When I saw those women’s dresses I totally fell for the colours.  Fresh, soft and flirty, perfect for those glorious sunny days ahead (I hope!).  And the kids clothes are no less beautiful, especially those lemon yellow dungarees.  Seeing colours like these in the shops makes me happy and hopeful for a long, hot Summer.

A sea of blue…

"blue girls room"

"blue room inspiration"

I’m a big fan of Milk Magazine and when I saw the cover of their latest Japanese issue, I was hit by a sea of blue.  There was something very inviting about the blue tones which instantly captured my imagination.  The article I found was about kids chairs but it was the blue decor that made my heart beat a little faster.  The pictures are so inspiring with lots of creative touches and decor ideas for any kids room.  And of course there’s the abundant use of blue in different shades which comes together to create a space that’s oozing style and charm.  The rustic feel of the unfinished walls and bare or tiled floors adds even more character.  As you’ve probably guessed, I’m in love with these inspirational images and wanted to share.  I’m now seriously tempted to try a one colour room for my daughter… but sadly I’ll have to wait till we next move house which may be a while!

"blue nirsery decor, blue toys, blue clothes for girls and boys"

If you’re a regular here, you’ll know that I’m not a blue for boy and pink for girl type of mama.  Blue can be just as much for girls as it can be for boys.  So with that in mind, I’ve found some lovely blue nursery decorations, toys and clothes some for boys, some for girls but mostly things that are for both.

1.  Soft and girly butterfly wings to wear or even hang on the wall by Christa Davis.

2.  A little car kit that you put together and decorate with the included crayons by Fidoodle.

3.  Sweet, sweet bamboo elephant mobile with big blue ears by Petit Collage.

4.  A beautiful powder blue bench for a kids bedroom or a play space by Guy and Brown.*

5.  A cute hand made felt singing bird soft toy by Colourland on etsy.

6.  A house shaped toy storage box by Rice DK available from Nettle Green.

7.  Adorable birdie coat pegs or door handles by Zachary Dickory Dock.

8.  A cool ribbed hooded jumper in electric blue by Stella McCartney kids.

P.S. Have you seen our Orange colour love goodies?  Also, if blue floats your boat, you can check out our turquoise nursery furniture and decor ideas.
