"6 of the best black and white cushions for kids"

A couple of months ago I rounded up some of the best kids cushions around and many of my readers really enjoyed it so I thought I would do another round-up.  Today though it’s about monochrome black and white cushions.  I’m a big fan of cushions and believe you can never have too many.  I love the idea of using a whole lot of black and white cushions in a kids room but if you like colour too, you can of course mix it up.  Here are 6 black and white cushions that I’m loving at the moment:

1. sleepy head cushion | 2. polar bear cushion | 3.  smiley cloud cushion | 4.  miffy cushion | 5.  panda bear cushions | 6. mountain range cushion

Beanie on helina…

"cloud cushions for kids"

It was the name – Beanie on Helina – that first got my attention.  It’s such an unusual name for a shop.  I discovered a stylish and sweet world of cushions that include clouds, houses and raindrops.  Beanie on Helina is a Finnish shop by Kaisa Erkkila and you can totally see the stylish Scandinavian vibe.  The name is inspired by a story Kaisa’s dad told her when she was a kid about a temperamental little girl who wore a beanie.  In addition to cushions, Beanie on Helina also offers some cool home wares like cloud pot holders (which would also look nice on a kids room wall), pouches and jewelry.

"blakc and white nursery decor ideas"At the moment I can’t seem to get enough of Scandinavian style black & white interiors.  It’s such a clean and striking look for any room.  So I’ve put together some things I’m really loving for a Scandi inspired black & white baby nursery.

1. Hand knit Paris garland…  2. Bear of few words A4 print…  3. Tree adorned crib bedding…  4. Black and birch high chair…  5.  Stripey cloud cushion…  6. Raindrop wall stickers…  7.  Jealous baby soft toy.

"black and white kids room ideas"I remember when I was around 13, there was a girl in my school who only ever wore black.  Occasionally she would wear little hints of white or grey but the dominating colour from head to toe was always black.  I seriously thought she was the coolest kid I’d ever seen!  I’ve always loved black and even several years on this obsession with black has never waned.  When I see a piece of clothing in a shop, it can come in every colour under the sun and I will always be drawn to the black one.  Over the years I’ve taught myself to have more colour in my wardrobe especially for Spring and Summer but in Winter it’s back to black!  Now this black obsession is creeping in to my decorating ideas and I’m thinking of re-doing my daughters room in black and white.  So I’ve been looking around for kids room decorations that are not only black and white but are also simple, unfussy and uncluttered in their design.  These were my top picks:

1.  Heart poster… 2. Polka dot wall stickers… 3. Sheep mobile… 4. Striped blanket… 5. Striped cloud cushion… 6. Tica chair… 7. Mickey Mouse pillow.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  See you next week…

Handmade pretties…

"hand made rag dolls"I’m a bit of a hoarder.  I’m just not very good at throwing out stuff and tend to get (unnecessarily) attached to things.  But this year I decided that I have to change and get better at divesting.  I started by pulling out a whole load of my daughters clothes and toys that I have been saving from when she was born 4 years ago… I think I kept nearly everything she ever owned!  Going through this stuff I kept picturing her playing with each toy or wearing each outfit and ended up with a massive ‘to keep’ pile and a tiny ‘to giveaway’ pile.  So I started again but with one strict rule… I could keep 21 things and the rest had to go. While I adore some of the stuff I’ve bought her over the years, I found that the majority of the stuff I kept was her handmade things.  Cardigans, sweaters, soft toys and even little dolls house furniture, some loving handmade by her grandmother, some by her father and others bought from independent little designers who make their wares by hand.  There is something so special about handmade even if it’s bought.  I’m always on the look out for new designers that make things by hand so when I stumbled across this Spanish store full of handmade goodies I fell for it.

"hand made rag dolls"Minina Loves makes cute rag dolls, adorable little beds and bedding for them and also some mobiles, cloud cushions and jewellery for kids.  I absolutely love the little beds and bedding for the dolls and the way that each dolls room is decorated.  The rooms are so pretty that I wouldn’t mind having a similar life-size one for my daughter!  The cloud cushions with the little gold polka dots are really sweet too and the bird and cat necklaces are so adorable for little girls.  There’s lots of little details in every piece making each one unique.  Minina Loves’ creations are all limited edition and are all made with great care and love which shines through each piece.

"pink and grey kids room ideas"I’m always dreaming of re-decorating every room in the house.  Today I’m loving pink and grey for my daughters room.  Grey isn’t the most obvious choice for a kids room but with a dash of pink I think it works so well.  Personally, I’d even go for just grey with lots of white but today I wanted to add a bit of pink to the mix.  This kind of colour scheme and decor also really appeals to my minimalist side.  When i started putting this board together I knew I would like the end result but I didn’t realise quite how much this colour scheme would appeal to me.  Hope you like it too…

1.  Harlequin wallpaper… 2.  Knitted flag garland… 3.  Circus print… 4. 3D Olephants mobile… 5.  Soft pink lacquered chair… 6. Beauty baby doll… 7.  Sonny angel doll… 8.  Floral print beanbag…  9.  Starry cloud cushion

"play tent for kids"I’m loving this dreamy new store from Spain called Bel & Soph.  It’s full of soft linen cushions, cosy quilts and cute decor items for babies and kids.  Created by 2 mums who wanted something unique and special for their kids, they recently launched their store and the result is just lovely.

"wooden toy storage boxes"

"linen cloud cushions"While I’ve seen many a cloud cushion, I love these for their simplicity, their colours and the rawness of the linen fabric.  I’m also loving the little wooden storage boxes in natural wood combined with pretty coloured backs.  Their designs are simple but there are lots of gorgeous little details like the pom pom ties on the play tent and the raw edges to the cushions that make them so lovely.  Much of their collection is in soft grey’s, dusty pinks and cool ivory’s giving it all a very chic look.

"painted headboard for kids bed"Everything on offer from Bel & Soph is understated and very classy.  Any kids room decorated with their goodies will be one magical space!

Pretty pink things…

"pink tutu,cloud cushion"

Pink seems to be the colour of the moment in this house.  My daughter is beyond obsessed with the colour and yesterday even asked if she could have ‘pink teeth’!  While I’m not a blue for boy/pink for girl type of mama, I have no objection to pink in moderation… just like any other colour.  When there are so many wonderful colours to choose from why restrict yourself to just one or two.  But since we’re thinking pink these days, I went in search of some pretty pink things and here’s what I found:

1.  Love this origami pendant light which comes with a choice of pretty pastel coloured cables so you can mix and match …  2.  This is one of the most gorgeous tutu’s I’ve seen in a while… the vibrant, almost neon pink colour is so striking.  3.  Just looking at these beautiful pink raspberry cookies makes me want to head to the kitchen and get baking… so delicious!  4.  Last is this super cute polka dotted cloud cushion which would make a very sweet cot companion.
