pink and grey nursery decor

When you think of a baby nursery, you probably think of colours like white, yellow, powder blue or pink.  The one colour that probably doesn’t come straight to mind is grey and yet it’s such a fantastic colour for a nursery.  It can be mixed in with any other soft colour to create a calming atmosphere.  My favourite colour combo right now is dusty pink and lightish grey.  I can’t seem to move away from these two colours together so I thought I would go looking for some pink and grey nursery decor ideas and here’s what I found.  I’m especially loving that three little pigs mobile – so cute!

1. fox print | 2. animal wall hooks | 3. piggy mobile | 4. knitted wool blankets | 5. star cushions | 7. house shelves

"fun wooden home decor"Last week I was at my favourite magazine shop* in London which stocks magazines from across the globe and also has very limited edition ones that are hard to find.  Seriously, the choice they offer is staggering and this place definitely qualifies as a magazine lovers paradise.  So naturally while I was there I indulged in a few magazines – some that I hadn’t read before and some old favourites like Milk.  While flicking through Milk yesterday a cute puppy like object caught my eye and I had a better look.  I discovered Pana Objects started by a group of friends who wanted to add a little fun and beauty to everyday things.  Based in Thailand, their sweet little objects are all crafted from wood and designed with love.  I adore those little Apple charger caps… what a cute idea!  And those coat hooks are simple and stylish for any space while that puppy dog lamp is perfect for a kids room.  Sweet!

*In case you’re interested, I don’t know the name of the magazine shop but you’ll find it at 66 Charlotte St.

A house in the clouds…

November 21, 2012

"dolls house shelves"When it comes to kids decor, all manner of animals have adorned so many different objects.  The fox, owl and elephant have been some of the most popular but I have even come across some unexpected animals like anteaters and bulls.  But now, these {lovely} beasts have got competition in the form of the humble cloud.  I mean how many wonderful versions of cloud pillows have there been?  While I love the whole animal thing, I think I may just love the cloud a teeny bit more.  There’s something quite cuddly and comforting about the shape with it’s soft curves and ageless appeal.  So when I saw this cloud shelf and felt cloud mobile, I had to find out more.

I discovered Coccoli home, a new Spanish shop that makes not only these cloudy creations but also those fun house shelves that double up as dolls houses.  There are also some adorable raindrop wall hooks and lots of colourful wall stickers on offer.  I love the idea of lining up some of these dolls houses with the cloud mobiles hanging above them.  It would {almost} be like having a house in the clouds!  And when your childs grown out of playing with dolls houses, the shelves can be moved to any room in the house as cute storage shelves.  The Coccoli home collection is sold through their own site and also exclusively through the lovely My Little Square.

"blue nirsery decor, blue toys, blue clothes for girls and boys"

If you’re a regular here, you’ll know that I’m not a blue for boy and pink for girl type of mama.  Blue can be just as much for girls as it can be for boys.  So with that in mind, I’ve found some lovely blue nursery decorations, toys and clothes some for boys, some for girls but mostly things that are for both.

1.  Soft and girly butterfly wings to wear or even hang on the wall by Christa Davis.

2.  A little car kit that you put together and decorate with the included crayons by Fidoodle.

3.  Sweet, sweet bamboo elephant mobile with big blue ears by Petit Collage.

4.  A beautiful powder blue bench for a kids bedroom or a play space by Guy and Brown.*

5.  A cute hand made felt singing bird soft toy by Colourland on etsy.

6.  A house shaped toy storage box by Rice DK available from Nettle Green.

7.  Adorable birdie coat pegs or door handles by Zachary Dickory Dock.

8.  A cool ribbed hooded jumper in electric blue by Stella McCartney kids.

Kalma & Violeta

December 2, 2011

"hand made kids room decorations"Kalma & Violeta is a small shop started by a mama who has an eye for beauty.  Simple, subtle, stunning beauty.  It’s filled with colourful little objects of desire to decorate kids rooms.  I discovered the lovely Mar Gomez and her shop ages ago and I’ve been meaning to write about it ever since.  All the goodies in Mar’s shop are handmade in Madrid where she lives and as Mar says “…each order we do with love with the desire that the child who receives it, will feel very happy with it.”  It’s this feeling that comes through all the goodies and makes the shop so special.

On offer are lovely coat pegs and hooks, wall clocks, cute hangers, the sweetest bird magnets and more.  It’s little objects like these that take a room from nice to wow.  Kalma & Violeta is a beautiful little store because right from their shop logo to all the shop wares, everything is lovely.  Visit Kalma & Violeta to see the full collection.

"childrens coat hook""contemporary kids coat hook""nursery coat hooks"Kids coat hooks or coat pegs, not something I normally give much thought to.  They’re useful, they’re practical and damn handy, especially in kiddy rooms.  Problem is, they can be a bit dull… OK, a lot dull.  Or at least that’s what I thought until I spotted these 3 hooks; they’re quirky, they’re cool, they’re fun and they’re anything but dull.  You’ve got the funky mustachioed ‘Monsieur Hook’, the 3 weird and wonderful characters called ‘Hang on to yourself hook’, and the birdy ones named ‘Birds and heart hook’.  I’m loving them all in equal measures, assuming it’s possible to feel love for childrens coat hooks!  Each one comes as a set of 3 and each set costs £44.10 plus £4.90 shipping from Made In Design.  Ooh, which one will you choose, it’s a tough choice!

P.S. Have you checked out our baby auction site yet?

"animal coat hooks"

I’m in like with these animal shaped coat hooks.  On offer are a dog, a hedgehog and a whale.  Designed by the oh so talented Swedes (the people, not the veggie!), these hooks would make a fun and stylish addition to a kidlet’s room.  Place them on a contrasting coloured feature wall and watch them stand out from the crowd. Painted in bold, solid colours, and made by Maze International, these animal coat hooks cost £19.53 each.  All 3 are pretty darn sweet but if I had to choose one, I’m feeling that teeny tiny bit more love for the hedgehog.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out our baby auction site packed with baby bargains.
