"atsuyo et akiko babies and kids"I’ve known about Atsuyo et Akiko for ages and have been meaning to share for a while so here it is today.  It’s a wonderful New York boutique where you can find a little bit of magic.  Magic for babies and a bit for boys but mostly for the girls.  On offer are fabulously girly necklaces, hair pins and tutu’s, shiny sparkly shoes and cute bracelets.  But the other thing that really caught my eye were the tee’s and onesies they have.  I’m not a fan of cartoon character adorned clothes but these one’s with mickey mouse and winnie the pooh just work.  I absolutely love the charcoal tee with the gold mickey silhouette.  There are also other very cool tee’s like the strawberry one and more.

The collection of goodies at Atsuyo et Akiko is fresh, it’s different and even a bit ecclectic.  The boutique is owned by two ladies, one with a fashion background and the other with a fine arts one.  The marriage of these two backgrounds shines through in their creations and their take on turning everyday fashion in to something a bit more special.  To feel the magic, head to Atsuyo et Akiko and and check out all their wonderful goodies.

"floor cushions for kids"

I love floor cushions for a kids room or a play space.  Kids love sitting on or near the floor and the cushions or soft seats look great too.  I’ve been seeking out some truly lovely ones and these are my top 4 finds:

1.  Love these elephant poufs by the fabulous Serena & Lily.  They come in 3 colours and while they’re all lovely, I’m very partial to the olive green and teal coloured one.

2.  Lale is one of my favourite brands for girly stuff.  I’ve had my eye on this beanbag for eons now and I’m seriously tempted to get one for my bambino.  I love the fabric, I love the colours and I love the girly-ness of it.  You can get them at Little Fashion Gallery

3.  These gorgeous, stripy, knitted pebble shaped floor cushions are by Blabla Kids.  Made of natural fibres and hand knitted in Peru, they’re super stylish too and would compliment an adult space just as much a kiddy one.

4.  Last are these bold and bright round floor cushions by Muskhane who make the most beautiful products in felt.  These cushions are fun and playful and perfect to add a splash of colour to a kiddy space.

"hand made soft toys"

I love Etsy!  I’ve been known to disappear in to the world of Etsy for hours on end, which is exactly what I did this weekend.  There is so much creativity and talent on there and that means I always find something that I can’t wait to share with you.  Today it’s all about Colette Bream, a store filled with super stylish, cool and quirky goodies for the kids.  On offer are hand made soft toys that can double up as playful cushions too, there are some dressing up bits, some lovely toddler bedding sets and the most adorable party hat.  For now, I’m concentrating on the hand made softies that are on offer… I love the little house cushion and the bird in boots one is pretty cool too.  Then there is the tree cushion and the clouds which are also just lovely.  I could go on but I’ll let you discover the rest over at Colette Bream’s Etsy store.

P.S. If you’d like to see some more hand made soft toys from Etsy, check out these cool lions and this gorgeous elephant and his friends.

"cute cushions for babies and kids"

How absolutely adorable are these cushions?  I love the teardrop shape, I love their sleepy expressions and I love their quirkiness too.  Propped on a chair in a kids room or in the bed, they’d make the cutest huggable companions.  They come as a family of 3, all in muted colours except there’s also a black polka dotted one which perfectly compliments the others.  They’re made by Zu, a French brand that also makes some other very cute stuff.  So sweet!

P.S. Have you seen our Christmas 2011 gift guide yet?

Colour love: Orange

October 26, 2011

"orange style for children"

Today I’m feeling the love for orange.  Maybe because Halloween is nearly here or maybe because I think it’s a fabulous colour for autumn.  I’ve picked out some orange goodies from across the web.  Some are to wear, others are to play with and there are also some orange things to decorate a nursery or kids room with.

1.  Cool 70’s inspired dungarees for boy or girl by Bobo Choses.  {From Custard-Online}

2.  An orange and chocolate hand crocheted hat so sweet.  {From Vine Street Goods on etsy}

3.  An owl cushion in flame orange perfect for little people or large.  {From Donna Wilson}

4.  A cute hug-able cat with a retro vibe.  {From Mia Hansen Design}

5.  Dressing up fun with a bold orange lion mask from ZidZid Kids.  {From smallable.com

6.  A bicycling mama and baby owl print for a splash of orange on your kids walls.  {From Orange Optimist}

8.  Gorgeous good luck booties made of felt and embellished with embroidery.  {From Coral & Tusk}

"star cushions and toy storage buckets"

Yesterday I was browsing the latest collection at Caramel Baby and Child when I spotted these cool cushions and toy storage bucket bags.  I discovered that these gorgeous silk printed goodies are made by Ah Quel Plaisir, started by Belgian born Caroline Halusiak. The toy storage buckets are made of canvas and embellished with beautiful animal prints in soft tones.  They come in 3 sizes but all are on the small side so they’re just the ticket for small toy storage.  The star and cloud shaped cushions are stylish, fun and playful, the perfect combo for kid’s room decor.   The cushions and bucket bags cost around £45 each from Caramel’s shop.

"nursery art with elephants and bunnies"

"hand made soft toys and throw pillows"

On the weekend while browsing Buy Modern Baby, I came across Kate Durkin and I couldn’t wait to share her goodies with you.  Kate makes the loveliest nursery art and some adorable throw pillows in animal shapes.  The pillows are also perfect as hug-able soft toys for babies and young kids.  Her style is clean and simple which gives her goodies their huge appeal.  I love all the artwork… there’s a certain softness of style and a sophistication which makes them appealing for kids and adults too.   The pillows too would look equally at home on a living room sofa or in a kiddy space.  I’m extremely partial to style that has no age boundaries and that’s what Kate manages to do so well.  The soft toys cost from $28 and the prints from $18.  Kate Durkin is based in New York but she ships worldwide from her Etsy store.

11 Polka dotted lovelies

September 26, 2011

"polka dots for kids"

I love polka dots.  It’s such a simple design that works so well on many things, especially things for kids.  I’ve picked out some polka dotted lovelies for you and your bambinos:

1.  These polka dot ballet shoes were the inspiration behind this post.  When I saw them, it was instant lust. How adorable are they?! I love the red and white with the black trim and bow.  So stunning.  They’re made by Sayang Design, a Japanese store with the most delicious shoes for kids.*

2.  This bambi-esque tee is made special with the addition of the navy blue polka dots.  So sweet.  This too is from a Japanese store and this store is called Enjoy 2u 2u 4u.*

3.  A baby shower invite with chicks and polka dots.  I’m liking the blue-brown colour combo and the simple design.  Love the little chicks too.  This polka dots baby shower invite comes from an Etsy store called Paper by Jill M.

4.  A little mustard coloured polka dot pencil case by Lale, one of my favourite French brands.  Lale also make very chic retro inspired suitcases for kids and mama’s and lovely girly hair clips too.  This polka dots pencil case is from smallable.com where you’ll find lots of Lale’s other goodies too.

5. More gorgeous shoes by Sayang Design.  These ones are perfect for boy or girl, don’t you think?

6.  Vintage inspired cushions by a cool French store called Les Choses Bizarres.  The store name means ‘weird things’ but the goodies on offer are definitely more wonderful then weird!  Visit Les Choses Bizarres where you’ll find these polka dot cushions for kids as well as some vintage looking bibs, pencil cases and more.

7. A navy and white polka dot cardigan for the girlies. I love the hint of red thrown in.  This is yet another Japanese find made by Cri de Joie and comes from a store called Esserini.*

8. I couldn’t resist this polka dot felt garland.  The vibrant colours and the simple circle shapes are just so attractive.  I found this over on a blog called Living with Punks where there’s a tutorial so you can make your own.

9.  Wow! Loving this navy polka dots satchel so much. So chic, so stylish.  It could be used as a school bag but this one’s really for all you mama’s.  Made by Zatchels you can get it at Liberty’s or try Zatchels own site where they have many colours on offer including a bold and beautiful red one.  Seriously tempting!

10. A very quirky and cool cloth doll wearing a bright orange polka dot dress.  This doll is hand made in Israel and comes from Timor’s etsy store.  All her cloth dolls are handmade and are one of a kind so once they’re gone, they’re gone!

11. Last is another pair of shoes from Sayang Design for the boys. Love the teal colour. I think you’ve probably guessed by now that I’m crazy about Sayang Design’s shoes for the bambinos!

"K Studio pillows, wall art for kids"

Yesterday I stumbled across K Studio and it was love.  Michigan based mother and daughter create the most stylish pillows, bags and wall art.  Simplicity and minimalism are mixed with bags of charm to create quirky and cool designs.  In terms of colours, off whites and sandy beige’s dominate with fine black childlike drawings and the odd hint of orange, red and pale blue.  And their stuff isn’t just for the kids.  I can see their creations feeling perfectly at home in a kiddy space or an adult space.  Have a look and don’t miss the chap who wears his heart on his sleeve or the pretty bird pillow.  There’s also that cat pouch which would make a sweet pencil case.  I could go on but I’ll let you discover more at K Studio.  They deliver internationally and prices start from around $30 plus shipping from $10.  This mother and daughter are a class act, if you ask me.
