Cool and safe sunglasses for children

My favourite Summer accessories are sunglasses without question. With so much choice out there for adults, there really is something to suit every face. But on the kids side, I used to struggle to find sunglasses that weren’t full of stars, hearts and sparkles. So I’m really glad that there are some seriously cool brands out there now. One of my favourites is this French brand of kids sunglasses that is funky and fun with a range of different styles to suit kids of different ages. This current collection has a retro vibe which I’m loving. Not only do these sunglasses look great, they’re also really durable and protect eyes even after long periods of sun exposure. Fashion, comfort and practicality all rolled in to one. Most of the pictures show girls but there are boys ones too or many unisex ones and they’ve even introduced a small range for women.

Pretty hair clips for girls…

My daughter is such a girly girl that I have trouble getting her to wear anything but skirts and dresses. Sometimes jeans or trousers are just more practical but getting these on her means a guaranteed battle that often ends in tears and tantrums. Recently I had a thought – why not try putting some ribbon in her hair on the days she has to wear jeans or has to wear anything less girly. This has worked a treat. So I’ve gone with this idea and taken it a step further by getting lots of pretty hair clips as well as ribbons in a range of colours. While looking for hair clips, these were some of my favourite finds and so I thought I would share because any of these would make great stocking fillers for all your girly girls.

Jewellery for girly girls…

Yesterday I was feeling the love for these neon sandals and today I’m continuing with the neon obsession but this time for these pretty bracelets and necklaces for girls. Delicate, bright and unashamedly girly these jewels are by the French Louise Misha. I love the striking colours, the sweet tassels and even the cute little cloth bags they come in. Louise Misha is the creation of 2 friends who started their own line after being inspired by a trip to India. I completely get this since India is a place full of colour, inspiration and beautiful things (OK maybe I’m biased but its still true :)). Apart from girls jewellery, Louise Misha also make other accessories, some clothes and I’ve just spotted some pretty little bikini’s too. Emerald green or ruby red?

Emerald green or ruby red… what would you choose? These are the gorgeous new accessories from the Spring Summer 2013 collection by April Showers. French and fabulous, April Showers always, always delights with each new season. Their accessories are feminine and pretty and would delight any little girl. Those sparkly socks would excite my daughter no end and the beaded necklaces with the tassel detail are just so chic, I want them for myself. There’s lots more to the collection including some black and white pieces for babies and some cool shoes and knee high socks for little girls. When I saw this collection at My Little Square, it was the rich, deep colours that first grabbed my attention but I just can’t say whether I like the ruby red or the emerald green more… I adore them both so much! Felt sweeties…

Being Indian, I visit India often as I have loads of family there including my parents. For me, shopping and eating are always at the top of the agenda in India because I love doing both. As far as the shopping is concerned, I never really indulge in expensive stuff but instead it’s always about picking up unusual little trinkets and treasures for the home or to wear. The one thing I never leave India without is a load of bangles, bindi’s and necklaces for my daughter Anya. She absolutely loves her accessories and will often load up her arms with 20-30 bangles at a time! Last time we were there we picked up a gorgeous fabric necklace for her which has now become an absolute favourite of mine and Anya’s. India is a great place to buy colourful and unusual jewellery for kids but since I don’t live there I’m always looking for other avenues too. And my latest finds are these super sweet handmade necklaces, hair clips and hair ties by Homako.

Based in LA, Yoko hand makes all these gorgeous accessories with a definite Japanese vibe to them which isn’t surprising as Yoko is originally from Japan. I love the soft pastel colours which are perfectly complimented with dark stripes and little unexpected details like the pearls and baubles. The necklaces are strung on ribbons finished with little coloured felt dots that are such a pretty addition. Yoko makes jewellery for adults as well but a lot of the kids’ range is designed for mum and daughter to share. Started by a pair of Dutch sisters who now live in Paris, this kids bedding, clothes and accessories collection is just divine. I love the muted colours with unexpected pops of neon, the subtle prints and the timeless designs. I’ve been feeling the love for neon lately. I feel like I can’t move for neon… it seems to be all around me and yesterday I even bought myself a gorgeous neon pink shirt. With neon on the mind, this is what a found for the kids:

Colourful little goodies

These are a few colourful little things for kids that have been on my radar for a while so I thought it was about time I shared them:

1. A cute wooden giraffe ring toss toy by Sweet Whirl. It so reminds me of the fun fairs I’ve visited as a kid as I always had to have a go at the ring toss game and I remember if I won, I’d come away with some giant soft toy. 2. Love these handmade soft clock bracelets for kids. My bambino loves wearing a pretend watch and I’ve never seen any nicer than these by Specks & Keepings.

3. I’m a big fan of Elisabeth Dunker’s store Fine Little Day. This ‘Fine Little World’ poster is one of her latest creations in collaboration with French Illustrator Steffie Broccoli. It’s a bright and bold world map filled with animals, buildings and other things representative of the various countries of the world.

4. How sweet are these tulip adorned pony tail holders for girls by Hello Shiso? I’m loving the colours and the girly – ness of them. 5. I don’t normally get excited about crayons but I really liked these with their bright, graphic wrappers from Pomme NYC. And the best part is they don’t need a sharpener, just keep peeling the layers of paper to reveal more and more colour.
