Nursery style: Vintage and wow!

When I spotted this vintage nursery I was besotted. There’s so much going on that you don’t know where to look but it all comes together somehow. To me it looks like some kind of an enchanting, mystical forest with all the deep green and the quirky vintage characters and toys dotted around the room. What a fun space for any kiddo. I’m loving the leafy knitted detail around the cot bars and the vintage wallpaper used on the changing table/cabinet. This room is so unusual, so captivating, so magical. It’s been put together by the mama and papa in question with a lot of attention to detail and huge amounts of creativity. I just love it! Vintage furniture love

I’ve seriously got the vintage bug this week. I’m feeling copious amounts of love for everything vintage. So I decided to visit one of my favourite vintage shops and I found some fabulous vintage furniture for kids. The first thing I spotted was the cot which I was smitten by. And then there were more lovelies like the kids desk and metal bed. Les Petits Bohemes is one of the best vintage spots I’ve found and every time I visit, there is something new for me to get obsessed by. Their collections are eclectic and unique… and in their words, it’s like visiting a crazy flea market but one you just can’t get enough of. Check out Les Petits Bohemes and prepare to be hooked! Most of their pieces are one of a kind so when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Kids room style: Vintage and unique

I come across lots of images of fabulous kids rooms and while I like many of the styles, my favourite decor style is vintage. I love the freedom, creativity and the ‘no rules’ aspect of vintage kids rooms. Mix and match different pieces as you please just like in the 2nd image where even the 2 beds are different and it works so well. There are no rules on colour either, the bolder and brighter the better as in the 3rd image where you have fuchsia and red together. And best of all no 2 rooms will ever be alike so you’ll definitely end up with something very unique. I chose these 3 rooms as I love them all for their individuality and their ability to inspire. And of course if you choose a vintage style, decorating your kids room won’t cost you much as you can scour garage sales or even your own loft and find pieces that you can throw together.

Vintage hot spot: Numero 74

I love a good vintage shop for kids and when I discovered the French Numero 74 I was smitten. They have some fabulous vintage toys like typewriters, cars and weighing scales, they also have some cool vintage chairs and desks for kids. Add to this their handmade bedding and cushions and the store is definitely one to check out. Their selection isn’t huge but I like that because they’re not trying to sell anything and everything vintage, just carefully chosen pieces all of which are desirable. I’m loving the red retro rocking chair and the gold typewriter and I also love their crochet blankets and kids bed sets. All the pieces are sourced from across Europe and USA and are from around the 1900’s to 1970’s and most are kept in their original condition to maintain their authenticity. Ooh la, la… this shop is French and fabulous! Filled with gorgeous vintage finds but also some very carefully chosen new things to compliment the vintage feel of the store. I love the way the offerings are presented and photographed and I love the offerings themselves. It’s a space that is unique and very, very interesting. At Les Petits Bohemes you’ll find one off vintage furniture for kids including chairs and cots and lots of storage furniture. You’ll also find some unusual and cool vintage toys and vintage nursery decor bits. Then there are the new pieces which include clothes and some wonderful soft toys and hand made dolls.

When I looked at my email the other day I had a message from ‘Happy Industries’. The name caught my attention and I checked it out. I was so excited to discover fabulous vintage furniture for children. They mainly have vintage school desks and vintage kids chairs on offer but there are lots to choose from. I love the idea of mixing in a vintage piece or two with modern furniture and with these you’ll be able to do just that. There are many brightly coloured pieces in yellows and reds but also natural wood ones too. Happy Industries are from the Netherlands and they believe good design isn’t just for adults… I couldn’t agree more. A mini vintage school

When I spotted this mini vintage play school table and chairs I could’ve cartwheeled my way to New York… I wanted it so bad! It’s made by Restoration Hardware, a hot US store that sadly hasn’t graced our European shores. This vintage kids school table has a strong industrial vibe which only adds to it’s drool factor. I can see it working a treat especially in a large open play space. My lovely US readers can head to Restoration Hardware and get their hands on the table for $449 and the chairs are $189 for a set of 2. My European readers, admire from afar and weep… I weep with you.
