An enchanting forest

March 23, 2012

"forest scene wallpaper kids"Ever since I spotted this wallpaper in Milk Magazine, I have been besotted with it.  The dark, enchanting forest theme is so striking, so bold, so impactful.  This ‘Foret Noire’ wallpaper is by Nathalie Lete, a Parisian artist whose creations are inspired by her travels, vintage toys and old engravings of animals an flowers.  Nathalie creates kids books, toys, ceramics and also one off pieces all of which are colourful, poetic and sometimes almost bordering on strange but always in a very creative way.  This forest wallpaper would make a magnificent feature wall in a kids room but I think it would look very cool in a nursery too.

And as for the lovely vintage inspired kids Tica chair in the picture, I found it over a Laurette Deco and I fell for it.  I thought the red works so well against the black wallpaper and the style of chair compliments the wallpaper too so I wanted to feature it.  To buy this wallpaper which also comes in a pale green, head to Lapin & Me.

While I’m talking wallpapers, have a look at the Pip Early Bird Wallpaper… it’s one of my favourites!

"mint green toys, clothes and accessories for kids"Spring is here and I can’t see beyond mint green at the moment.  It’s in the shops, it’s in the magazines and it’s on my mind.  It’s such a fresh and vibrant colour and I’m absolutely going crazy for it.  So I went on the hunt for some mint green lovelies for the kids and here’s what I found:

1.  An old wardrobe given a new lease of life by painting it mint green.  Perfect for any kids room, I found this over at style-files.

2.  A cute little summer dress with a high seas print by Winter Water Factory.

3.  I love the idea of having a single wooden letter on display in a nursery and I love this lower case ‘a’ by Old New Again.

4.  Gorgeous little baby ballet shoes by Baby Bloch. You can get these at Bohemia Design.

5.  Beautiful mint green and gold wallpaper adorned with colourful humming birds, perfect for kids or adults too.  It’s called Grove Garden Wallpaper and it’s from Fabrics & Papers.

6.  A sweet little elephant bowl made of stoneware clay and its from A. Speer Ceramic Studio.

7.  I just want to eat these mint green cake pops now! The photo is from Fern Lee photography where you’ll also find instructions on how to make these delicious looking treats.

8.  An adorable little hand made bunny rabbit wearing mint green and polka dots by Timo Handmade.

9.  Last is this lovely, cosy looking quilt with a turtle print on one side and stripes on the other.  This one is by Moo Chic Baby.

"birds wallpaper for a nursery"

If you’re a regular here you’ll know how much I love my wallpaper.  I’ve got the stuff pasted on many walls in my home including the bambino’s room where I chose the Pip Early Bird wallpaper.  I recently discovered Julia Rothman and her daydream wallpaper.  Birds floating amongst clouds in the most beautiful colourways is what I saw and it was love.  It would make a fabulous style statement in a nursery or kids space but would also be equally at home in an adult space… just the kind of thing that floats my boat.  I’m very keen on the design but I also love the range of colours that this bird wallpaper comes in; there are muted and soft colours as well as impactful and bright colours.  Julia Rothman is a Brookyn based designer who creates bold and whimsical designs not just to adorn wallpapers but also books, wall prints, totes and more. Check out Julia’s work at her site of head to Hygge & West for this wonderful and floaty birdy wallpaper.

"coordonne-Kids wallpaper"

Yesterday I discovered Coordonne Kids and my heart skipped a beat.  It’s a Spanish store that makes and sells children’s wallpapers and wall murals.  I do have a thing for wallpapers I know, but this store is seriously special.  While their current collection is very lovely, it was their new collection that had my heart fluttering.  The wall coverings on offer range from dancing flamenco ladies wearing the brightest dresses to comical looking cute birdies in a variety of colours .  These wallpapers for kids are just so cool especially the flamenco one.  Actually I love the comical birds one too.  They’re lots of fun and would make fabby feature walls.

To check out the collection head to Coordonne Kids.  If you’re tempted by their wares you’ll have to contact them as there aren’t any prices on their site.  While you’re there check out the adult collection too.  Although I’m keener on the kids lot and I could just see the flamenco ladies adorning the walls of a very quirky but cool dining room.  Spanish design just gets hotter by the day!

P.S. Did you see the Spanish designed outdoor ride-on toys? Don’t miss it.

"turner and pocock ostrich wallpaper"

I have long been eyeing this wallpaper and it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn’t shared.  So here it is.  By Turner and Pocock, this Ostrich wallpaper is just so understated and timeless.  The cranberry red Ostriches sit elegantly against the creamy white background, creating a look so sophisticated.  There’s no room for cutesy here, just oodles of style which will take your nursery from sweet to super stylish.  Also on offer by Turner & Pocock are a Polar Bear wallpaper in turquoise and cream and a galloping Zebra one in a bluey-grey .  As lovely as they are, for me the Ostrich one is the true winner.  The second I laid eyes on it I fell truly, madly, deeply in love.  To get this Turner and Pocock Ostrich wallpaper, head to Wallpaper King where it costs £72 a roll plus £5.95 shipping although for orders over £150, delivery is free.

P.S. We’re running a lovely giveaway where there’s vouchers to be won.  Check out our Facebook page for all the details.

"Brian Yates Pip wallpaper"

I’ve been on the hunt for wallpaper for ebabee no.1’s room.  So many styles on offer equals dizzying levels of confusion.  And because I’ve made it my life’s work to hunt down the coolest kids stuff on the planet for you, well I end up in the know about wallpaper designs that most people wouldn’t have heard of (more choice, more confusion!).  Even in this state of dizzy confusion, when I saw this Pip Early Bird wallpaper in yellow, I knew it was the chosen one.  Yellow just excites me but add some turquoise to the mix and a stunning oriental-esque print, now that’s what I call a stunner!

By Brian Yates, this Pip Early Bird wallpaper has the added advantage of growing with your child.  It would be perfectly at home in any space, from baby to mama spaces, from playing to eating spaces, from sleeping to living spaces.  So if it’s in your nursery and you don’t want to change it for years to come, you don’t have to.  The less DIY the better, me thinks!  I’m planning to use in on a feature wall and I’m drooling as I picture it.  This wallpaper is a style statement, big and bold.  But there are times when something less just won’t cut it.  Head on over to Tangletree interiors where a roll costs £57.39 with £4.95 for delivery.

The talented Ms Isaksson

September 14, 2010

Ooooh… I’m giddy with excitement.  I’ve discovered a super-duper little shop tucked deep in a corner of the world wide web.  The seriously hot design and reasonable prices that ISAK offers makes me want to hug Sandra Isaksson, the creator.  Sandra’s from Sweden but has settled in the UK (thankfully)  and has given us this gem of a shop.  There’s a range of stuff on offer from stationary to clothes to wallpaper.  I’m obsessing over the shimmering penguin wallpaper, which will make a hot, hot, hot nursery feature wall.  It’s available in shimmery silver, green, turquoise and plum, costs £35 a roll and measures 10m x 52cm wide.

"nursery wallpaper"

Also on offer are some lovely clothes.  They’re mostly summer stuff so the moment may have passed but there’s always next summer.  I’m lusting after the stink bug tee  for a tenner and the geisha dress for £15 (pictured). The kimono wrap tops also high on the desire list at £9.

"girls dress ISAK"There’s loads more wantable stuff including a cool baby journal, funky wooden trays and more. Delivery starts at £2.14, an odd number maybe but very reasonable.  There’s plenty of eye candy for mama’s too.  I’ve got my eye on the little espresso cups, but for now I’m off to order the geisha dress for ebabee no.1.
