Happy new year!

December 30, 2011

"paper pom poms"

My blog posts have been a bit erratic in the past 10 days… apologies for that and full service will resume in the new year.  Before I end the year, I’d like to wish you all a very, very happy 2012.  It’s been a fabulous year for ebabee likes which has grown from my little space on the internet to a blog that has been recognised as a top 50 design blog (by babble.com), been runner up in blogger of the year (Loved by parents awards) and more .  Thank you for all your support, to all of you who voted and to all of you who visit regularly.  I look forward to coming back in the new year with lots more delectable goodies, stylish finds, beautiful stuff and fabulous giveaways for the kiddies. – nomita

P.S. I’m a sucker for paper pom poms, they’re so pretty!  This happy image says celebration to me and what better time to celebrate than the new year.  You can buy these joyful pom poms from a store called Pom Decor on etsy.

"stylish kids clothes"

A few weeks ago I mentioned a shop called Flora & Henri.  It’s a little gem of a store in Seattle.  When I came across them I wrote about some amazing wooden toy boats that they were selling.  But their goodies don’t end there.  They have their own collection of kids clothes that are so, so beautiful.  Elegant, simple creations with bags of style is what you can expect.  I’m loving the mint coloured sweater with the pleated skirt, the faux fur jacket is another winner and then there are the shoes that come in the most delectable colours.  It’s all pretty fabulous stuff!  You can check out their entire collection at Flora and Henri and the good news is that they’re currently having a big sale at the moment.

"Christmas crafts for kids"

I wanted to wish you and your families a very, very happy (and of course stylish!) Christmas.  And a very big thank you to all my readers for the support you’ve given ebabee likes over the past year.  Enjoy your festivities, eat lots and be happy!  The above are a selection of images I liked over at Martha Stewarts site – they’re 3 crafts that you and your kiddos can indulge in plus some mistletoe.  I couldn’t resist the picture of the mistletoe – love the kissing tradition.  And lastly before I go, I hope each one of you gets all you want for Christmas.

Mustache envy, anyone?!

"cute kids room posters"

I was browsing the lovely art store that is L’Affiche Moderne when the words ‘Mustache Envy’ caught my eye.  I glanced at the kids poster under the words and it brought a big smile to my face.  It’s the creation of an Argentinian graphic designer mama called Frankel Yael.  Besides art prints for kids, she also creates other cute little goodies like notebooks, picture books, hair accessories and the most adorable pair of tennis shoes for women.  You have to see these shoes… they are so sweet.  To check them out and to have a look at her other goodies head to her etsy store called Yaelfran.

"purple dress for girls"

"Nelly Stella autumn winter 2011"

"girls clothes by Nelly Stella"

I recently discovered Nelly Stella and I loved what I saw.  It’s a fresh and charming collection of clothes for the girlies.  The collection is designed by Nelly Chen who was inspired by the clothes she always dreamed of wearing as a child.  I’m loving the dresses on offer especially the one with the ruffles.  Throughout the collection, there is a strong sense of style mixed with playfulness that makes these clothes so lovely.  The colours for this Autumn Winter are rich purples and fuchsias complemented with softer and more neutral tones.  All the clothes are unfussy, yet feminine… just the kind of thing that floats my boat.  Head to Nelly Stella to check out the entire collection and you’ll also find a list of stockists on their site.

"hand made soft toys"

I love Etsy!  I’ve been known to disappear in to the world of Etsy for hours on end, which is exactly what I did this weekend.  There is so much creativity and talent on there and that means I always find something that I can’t wait to share with you.  Today it’s all about Colette Bream, a store filled with super stylish, cool and quirky goodies for the kids.  On offer are hand made soft toys that can double up as playful cushions too, there are some dressing up bits, some lovely toddler bedding sets and the most adorable party hat.  For now, I’m concentrating on the hand made softies that are on offer… I love the little house cushion and the bird in boots one is pretty cool too.  Then there is the tree cushion and the clouds which are also just lovely.  I could go on but I’ll let you discover the rest over at Colette Bream’s Etsy store.

P.S. If you’d like to see some more hand made soft toys from Etsy, check out these cool lions and this gorgeous elephant and his friends.

"linen baby bibs, blankets and quilts"

Sometimes there are things that land in my inbox that I can’t wait to share.  Tulip + i is just one of those things.  It’s a little Canadian boutique selling baby blankets, bibs, clothes, pillows and more, all made of beautiful washed linen.  The colours are muted with soft greys, purples, pinks and browns complementing each other wonderfully well.  None of the stuff is cutesy in anyway, just simple designs with bags of soft and subtle style.  Many of the cushions have a tiny little animal printed on them in white or yellow, the baby blankets and place mats have some Italian text on them while the bibs have contrasting coloured straps.  It’s these little touches and details that make Tulip + i so special.  Natalie, the mama in question and the designer, definitely has an eye for beauty.  Inspired by life’s little pleasures, her collection evokes a sense of happiness, calm and an overwhelming desire to touch it all!  Head over to Tulip + i to see all the goodies and they’re offering 20% off everything till 19th December 2011.

"free christmas gift tags to print"

Christmas is nearly upon us and I haven’t even started my shopping!  I’m really panicking now.  But what I have got sorted is some lovely Christmas gift tags.  I rarely buy Christmas gift tags because there are such fantastic ones available to download for free.  Many talented kiddy designers create tags every Xmas and all you have to do is print and cut.  Here are 4 that I’ve liked so far:

1.  You may know Camilla Engman’s work if you’re a regular reader as I have featured her before.  But in case you don’t, she’s a super talented designer from Sweden who creates art and more for kids and adults too.  These lovely gift tags are her creation and also the 4th one pictured (with the cute little characters) is by her.   To download these Christmas gift tags, head to Studio Moran.

2.  I liked both the simplicity of the buttons tag and the quirkiness of the reindeer girl one.  And the raindrops and star ones are nice too, especially to adorn an adults gift.  I found this over at a blog called Ginger & George where you can print them for free.

3.  Last are these simple but beautiful tags with drawings by one super creative dad called Joel.  I’ve featured Joel and his projects a few times on my blog so you may already know him.  But if you don’t, Joel makes crafts, toys and little projects for his kids and all his projects are pretty awesome!  Head to Made by Joel for these cool gift tags.

P.S. You can also check out some fab free gift tags by Haciendo el Indio and some birdy ones by Wee Birdy.  I featured both last year but they’re still available for you to print and use.  And before I go, a big THANK YOU to all of these designers for giving us such lovely tags for free.

UPDATE DEC 2012:  For more free Christmas gift tags, check out my latest selection.

Wooden toy boats to wow!

December 13, 2011

"wooden toy boat"

"wooden toy ship"

"wooden toy boat"

I can’t believe I’m getting so excited about a boat… yes a boat!  But when you see these boats you’ll know exactly why.  They’re truly beautiful toys that have been made with such precision and attention to detail.  These wooden toy boats are actually ships (I just like the word boat!) that are scaled down versions of real ships.  They’re the creation of  a design consultancy called Postler Ferguson made for a small toy company called Papa Foxtrot.  I love the soft blue colour, I love that you put them together yourself and best of all I just love how stunning they look.  I first came across them at Flora & Henri which is a lovely kids store based in Seattle.  There’s a lot more to be said about Flora & Henri but I’ll save that for another day.  For today, I just want to stare at these utterly beautiful toys.  You can check them out and buy at Papa Foxtrot.

"classic fairytale posters for kids"

Wow!  Goldilocks, Rapunzel, 3 Little Pigs, The Ugly Duckling… they’re all here but not as we know them.  When I came across these kids room posters of classic fairytales, I couldn’t quite believe my eyes.  I never imagined it would be possible to strip down these cute kiddy classics to such a level of minimalism.  And it works.  At least it works for me.  I don’t think it will suit everyone’s taste but I like it for it’s creativity and wit.  I also love the warm colours Christian Jackson, the artist has used.  And even if it’s not for you, don’t you think they’re still very worth looking at?

I can see these fairytale posters adorning a super modern kids room but I can also imagine them equally at home in an uber minimalist adult space.  I’m finding it hard to choose a favourite but I am quite partial to Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and The ugly Duckling ones.  Having said that, the Pinocchio and Rapunzel posters are pretty cool too.  You can see the complete collection at Square Inch Design or if you want to buy, Modern Child have a selection on offer.

P.S. I love searching for cool, unusual nursery and kids room art.  So if you want to see my other finds, head over to the Nursery Wall Art area.
