Garlands galore…
July 24, 2013
One of my favourite ways to brighten up a kids room is to hang up a garland or some bunting. Even the most blah space can instantly come to life with one of these. And of course no kiddy party can be complete without bunting. Currently my favourites are these beautiful handmade ones by Numero 74 which include garlands made from vintage fabrics, crochet garlands and more. And they’ve just added party packs to their range with bunting adorned invitation cards and the prettiest party bags I’ve seen.
You’ll find all these at Mokkasin which is fast becoming a favourite shop of mine not just because of their wonderful selection but also their photo styling is so stunning like in these picture above.
An elephant in the room…
July 23, 2013
I love grey. As I’m getting older I think I’m loving it more and more not only as a colour to wear but also as a colour to decorate with. I’m especially loving it for a nursery because I find the colour quite calming. And besides you can add hints of practically any other colour and it will work with grey. So when I saw this delightful new Elephant crib by Oeuf NYC I thought it would be fun to put together a few things to go with it. The Elephant crib is Oeuf’s latest offering and it really does resemble an elephant, don’t you think? I love the playful design as well as the rounded edges and the whole modern vibe. Here are my picks for a modern grey nursery:
1. Plum & pink hearts garland… 2. Mary Poppins poster… 3. Grey sheep duvet set… 4. Knitted sheep soft toy… 5. Elephant crib… 6. Hanging pendant lights
Wonderful wallpapers…
July 22, 2013
Last week I received an email about a new wallpaper collection curated by Elisabeth Dunker in collaboration with Photowall. I’m already a big fan of Elisabeth Dunkers work and her shop Fine Little Day so I knew it was going to be a goodie before I even opened the email. I wasn’t disappointed.
The collection consists of 5 wallpapers designed by various artists and curated by Elisabeth. While all 5 designs are striking, my favourites are the 2 pictured here. The first is called ‘Wooden Village’ and the second is ‘Mogu’. I love the simple colours and the fun illustrations on both making them perfect for a kiddies room. You can see the rest of the collection at Photowall.
A cool alternative {for babies}…
July 19, 2013
Brands that describe themselves as alternative aren’t my thing. Most of the time I feel they try too hard to be different for the sake of being different. Then last week I came across Nununu which describes itself as exactly that – ‘alternative baby fashion’ – and much as I hate to admit it, I do like it, a lot. Nununu is different but not crazy different, not unwearable different, not different purely for the sake of different and that’s what I love. Their clothes are seriously cool yet very wearable and look extremely comfortable for babies and toddlers. I’m loving that black and white star dress and this sprinkle all in one playsuit. I wish I had known about Nununu when my daughter was a baby but luckily many of their clothes go up to 6 years so I still have time to get a piece of this ‘alternative’ cool for her wardrobe.

A playful and stylish store…
July 17, 2013
I’m loving this cute store that I just discovered. The Modern Baby was started by Suzanne, a mama who had a vision of a store full of things that would grow with your child. The Modern Baby has lots of colourful nursery and kids room decorations, bed linen, soft toys and so much more. The product styles include modern, vintage and retro and the looks are all stylish and fun. It’s probably one of the best nursery ranges I’ve come across in a UK store. I’m especially loving the way they’ve photographed their products which perfectly reflects the stores playful and stylish personality. All the products featured are sold by The Modern Baby and the beautiful styling is thanks to talented design agency Supa Frank where you can see lots more photos to drool over. While The Modern Baby is based in the UK they ship worldwide so go take a look… there’s lots to discover.
Lets play superheroes…
July 16, 2013
Playing superheroes is something my daughter never tires of. After all when you’re a superhero anything is possible. Her self-assigned missions change frequently but her favourite is to rescue me from a pool of hungry crocodiles and thankfully she always saves the day (or my life!). I haven’t yet got her a cape and mask set which I know she will love, but at the moment she is happy improvising with things she finds around the house. When I decide to get her one I’m loving these gorgeous linen sets by Kathryn Davey. Simple and stylish, the colours are really lovely too and there’s even a soft pink one for all those girly girls. Kathryn Davey also makes those superhero soft toys. I love that they too are made of linen and are so cute but never cutesy. All the cape and mask sets and soft toys are handmade in San Francisco, making them even more special.
Creative & quriky little toys…
July 15, 2013
These handmade wooden toys made me smile with their quirky and creative looks. But when I read about them, I fell even more in love. The little whimsical people are called ‘Hurbanos’. Hurbanos are people who love city life for all it’s complexity and diversity. Each of these wooden characters is unique and come with it’s own ID, much like every city dweller. In addition to the characters and their wooden cityscapes, I’m also loving that unusual circus balancing toy. All these toys are handmade in the Netherlands by The Watermelon Cat Company. Even their company name reflects their quirky creativity!
Jammies in a jar: A royal gift?
July 12, 2013
How cute are these jammies in a jar? This is the creation of a pair of siblings who got the idea because in the 1980’s their dad used to buy pyjamas, put them in a jar and gift them to anyone who was expecting. So when brother and sister, Meryl and Brian, decided they wanted to pursue their interest in kids and babies clothes, they took their dad’s cute idea and turned it in to Jammies pret-a-porter. The pyjamas come as all in ones or in a top and bottom combo and are for babies up to 9 months old. I love all the colours they’ve chosen for the trim on the pyjama sets but my favourite is probably the watermelon trim. I also love the simple white pyjamas. These jammies would be an unusual gift for any expectant mum but especially for one who already has everything. Yup, I’m thinking Meryl & Brian should send a jar to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.
Happy Friday friends. Have a wonderful weekend.
