Les Pommettes du Chat (Cheekbones of the cat) is a lovely French boutique that makes the sweetest little decorations for babies and kids. They have adorable things like those soft mini triangle rattles and tiny little clouds for hanging on the wall. They also make some very pretty bed linen and other textiles like bibs, pouches and paper garlands. The fabrics are all so pretty and delicate and the creations feel like they’ve been made with lots of love and a touch of poetry. I love boutiques like Les Pommettes du Chat because their offerings are so unusual and it almost feels like the products have been created especially for you.

Bubbly neons {at Bubble London}…
June 18, 2013
Yesterday I visited Bubble London – a trade exhibition which brings together many non-mainstream kids clothing brands. On view were forthcoming Spring/Summer 2014 collections. Entering the exhibition space was like walking in to a sea of colour with loads of neons on offer. Neons are of course very much in at the moment and it looks like the trend will continue in to next year. I’m a big fan of this bold trend and so I thought I would share some of my favourite neon finds with you.
I fell for the new Beau Loves collection which was dominated by that cool cat print. The cats adorned tees, rompers, bloomers, and best of all was the cat bedding which will be available in Autumn. I love how the black and white print beautifully compliments the neon dotted sheet. Delightful!
Rachel Riley had the brightest oranges and pinks on offer which looked good enough to eat! In her collection were some delectable swimwear and shoes… now all we need is the sun! Speaking of shoes, Maa shoes were another favourites of mine. Little mary janes and sandals in the softest leather and the prettiest colours.
Next was Corby Tindersticks who mixed neon orange with muted greys and blacks. Their quirky toys were super soft to the touch and that caterpillar onesie was just the cutest! Lastly to accessorise with all this neon were Chi Chi with their cool fluoro satchels.
You’ll find all the details of all these brands and more on Bubble London’s website.
Introducing Petit Home…
June 10, 2013
Today, I’m delighted to introduce you to my newest sponsor Petit Home. As the name suggests, Petit Home is a shop filled with delightful home accessories and decorations for babies and kids. The owner Amelie is French so you’ll find many beautiful French brands in her store including some of my favourites like April Showers, Mimi’Lou and Zu. In addition to the French brands, Amelie has carefully selected a few other brands that also have bags of style.
In the UK it’s not always easy to find some of the most covetable French kids decor brands but with UK based Petit Home you have exactly that and all under one roof. From bedding to wall art and lighting, you could easily kit out your entire nursery or kids room from Petit Home. I love that Amelie has chosen products that are sometimes fun, sometimes quirky and sometimes beautiful, giving us a range of styles to choose from. While Petit Home has some of my favourite kids decor brands on offer, today I’m really loving that whimsical baby rabbit lamp… so crazy cute! I’m so glad to have Petit Home on board and I hope you enjoy their offerings as much as I do.
Florals, solids & stripes…
May 28, 2013
Liberty prints are so pretty and I love them even more when they’re paired with solid and stripes. So when I saw this collection of kids bed linen and accessories I was excited to share them with you. From France, Lab. makes lots or pretty things for babies and kids which include duvet sets, sleeping bags, cushions and more. There are plenty of liberty prints on offer and then there are the solid and stripes which complement them perfectly. I’m especially loving those sweet teddy bear pillows and these single striped linen quilts.
Lab. don’t just make things for kids; they’ve got a lovely adult size collection too. Most of their designs are suitable for any age so you’ve got gorgeous cushions, duvets and quilts in similar prints and colours for grown-ups as well. My favourite liberty print is the pastel one pictured at the top… so delicate and so pretty for any little baby. And I love the turquoise and brown combination for any age.

A {new} vintage find…
May 21, 2013
My parents never kept any of my baby toys or clothes. This never mattered to me until I had a child and now I really wish they had. My father was in a job where he moved countries every 3 to 4 years so when the time came for us all to up and go, big clear outs were inevitable. And besides I think my mother is a bit of a divester. She’s never been one to hoard her possessions and loves getting rid of clutter. But she did keep one adorable little vintage chair that was used by her and her sister when they were babies, then by my brother and me and now it’s Anya’s. Anya loves being told stories about her mama using the chair. That’s the wonderful thing about good vintage furniture and toys… they can be passed down from generation to generation and they gather so many wonderful memories along the way.
I love the thought of passing down furniture and toys but if you don’t have your own, the next best thing is finding a good vintage shop. And today I wanted to share my latest find – Roger Bontemps. It’s a new French vintage shop that looks super promising. Their online doors aren’t even open yet but should be opening in the next week. They will be selling vintage kids furniture, toys and more but they have also created their own small line of vintage inspired clothes, bed linen and accessories. I couldn’t find too many pictures but I liked what I did see especially that rattan crib and the bed linen in it. Can’t wait to see more…
Feeling green…
May 17, 2013
Yesterday my daughter had a play date with another little girl and they got hooked on the colour green. The two girls kept saying ‘green’ louder and louder and then bursting in to fits of laughter. They then started adding an extra word and coming up with things like ‘green toast’, ‘green dog’… the idea being to pair it with something that most definitely isn’t green. This produced more laughter and eventually the inevitable bathroom humour ensued followed by the loudest giggles ever! I don’t know how 4 year old minds work but I do know this little game tickled them pink! While I didn’t take part in the game, it did get me thinking of the colour green and I realised I’d never done a green post. I always think that green isn’t a colour I’m naturally drawn to but then again there are so many shades of it that there really is a green for everyone (my personal favourite is mint green) and so I thought it would be fun to look for a few things in different shades of green and here’s what I found:
1. green linen sunsuit by wolfechild… 2. minty green toddler duvet set by garbo & friends… 3. forest green firs pillowcase by fine little day… 4. shades of green bird poster by silke bonde… 5. ice-cream green playhouse by lucky boy sunday… 6. dark green book called Grandpa Green by Lane Smith.
Happy weekend all and see you next week!
Scattered little shapes…
May 1, 2013
A few days ago I came across some kids bedding by Oh My Kids from Belgium and I was smitten. Their simple aesthetic of lots of white with tiny bits of colour really appealed to me. Also, I just adore the random scattering of little shapes which extends across most of their designs. I need to start looking for new bedlinen for Anya soon, and this is definitely going on my shortlist.
I soon discovered that Oh My Kids also create handmade clothes for kids which include dresses, skirts, sweatshirts and leggings. I’m not normally a sweatshirts and leggings kind of gal but these ones are an exception. They’re so simple, stylish and fun. And that little balloon skirt… too cute!
And before I go, have you entered our fab giveaway?
In the mood for gold…
March 19, 2013
I think I have a bit of an obsession with the colour gold. I love wearing gold jewellery and having gold accents in my home. It’s a colour that’s rich and warm and works best when used sparingly. I particularly love that there are so many different tones and shades to gold so you can chose to bling it up or tone it down. It’s not a colour you would immediately associate with a nursery or toddler’s room but I love the idea of adding gold accessories and accents in a kids space especially when paired with lots of white. I went looking for some gold nursery decorations and here’s what I loved:
1. Black and gold cloud mobile… 2. Mexican inspired Concha chair… 3. Mr Mustache print… 4. Straw storage baskets with gold sequins… 5. Toadstool night light from smallable.com… 6. Set of raindrop cushions… 7. Organic stars duvet set.
Dreamy decor from Spain…
February 11, 2013
I’m loving this dreamy new store from Spain called Bel & Soph. It’s full of soft linen cushions, cosy quilts and cute decor items for babies and kids. Created by 2 mums who wanted something unique and special for their kids, they recently launched their store and the result is just lovely.
While I’ve seen many a cloud cushion, I love these for their simplicity, their colours and the rawness of the linen fabric. I’m also loving the little wooden storage boxes in natural wood combined with pretty coloured backs. Their designs are simple but there are lots of gorgeous little details like the pom pom ties on the play tent and the raw edges to the cushions that make them so lovely. Much of their collection is in soft grey’s, dusty pinks and cool ivory’s giving it all a very chic look.
Everything on offer from Bel & Soph is understated and very classy. Any kids room decorated with their goodies will be one magical space!
Spring is in the air…
February 1, 2013
I had my birthday in January. Nothing unusual about this except January is the bleakest month of the year in this part of the world. So it’s really not a good month for a birthday but this year at least I managed to escape for some winter sun. Growing up in Mumbai, January was the best month to have your birthday. Most Indians don’t celebrate Christmas so there was no Christmas hangover to speak of, it was a new year, the weather was at it’s best and everybody was on a high. How the tables have turned on me! But as bleak as January is, come the 1st of February and it feels like everyone has a renewed vigour, a spring in their step, a positive outlook once again. For me the 1st of February brings with it the hope of Spring and that’s what makes it special. Today, it feels like the worst of winter is over and so to celebrate the coming of Spring I wanted to share my first Spring 2013 collection with you. It’s a new brand from Sweden called Gabor & Friends and they make the most wonderful bed linen for babies, toddlers and kids.
Stylish, sophisticated kids bed linen is hard to come by and that’s why when I saw Gabor & Friends I couldn’t wait to share. On offer are duvet sets, blankets, crib bumpers and cushions. The prints, like the bird one, are so pretty but the solid colours of sea green and salmon are equally appealing (my favourite I think is that Purple Rain snuggle blanket). Most of the tones and shades used in Gabor & Friends’ Spring collection are soft, muted and understated except their cashmere-wool blankets that come in the boldest and brightest of colours. Many of the pieces are 2 sided – a print on one side and a solid colour on the other giving you the option to change the look as you please. I’m so loving this collection and looking at it really makes me feel like Spring is in the air. Gabor & Friends don’t sell through their site but you’ll find their cashmere blankets at the lovely Scandinavian Minimall who will soon be stocking the rest of the collection.
