Baby, it’s black & white…
September 10, 2013
At the moment I can’t seem to get enough of Scandinavian style black & white interiors. It’s such a clean and striking look for any room. So I’ve put together some things I’m really loving for a Scandi inspired black & white baby nursery.
1. Hand knit Paris garland… 2. Bear of few words A4 print… 3. Tree adorned crib bedding… 4. Black and birch high chair… 5. Stripey cloud cushion… 6. Raindrop wall stickers… 7. Jealous baby soft toy.
Flower power…

Autumn is officially here. I’m not a fan of the sudden change from long sunny days to chilly dark evenings and it always takes me a couple of weeks to adjust. So to brighten my mood I wanted to share something colourful and vibrant today and found these pretty floral duvet covers and cute cushions.
I’m loving the bright colors of the duvets and the playful designs of the cushions. My favourite is that bow print cushion with the little pink bow detail on it. All of it is very girly and sweet and perfect for cheering anybody up on this dull, grey day. You’ll find these kids duvet sets and cushions at File dans ta chambre.
Introducing Noeuf…
August 19, 2013
Today I want to introduce you to my newest sponsor Noeuf. Noeuf is a French boutique full of covetable things for babies and kids. There are carefully selected clothes, toys, accessories and more on offer. Whether you’re buying your new baby essentials or looking for a cool gift, you’ll find something at Noeuf. At the moment Noeuf are getting in all their new Autumn/Winter 2013 collections and from the new stuff I’m loving that tree adorned all in one by Bobo Choses. I’m also loving those cute party invitations by Barnabe Aime le Cafe. Noeuf’s selection of goodies is fun and stylish and I’m glad to have them as my newest sponsors.
A rabbit and a lion…
August 14, 2013

Wall mounted animal heads seem to have become all the rage for kids rooms. In recent months I have seen so many animal heads from cloth ones to clay ones and everything in between. Some look quite sinister to me while others look too cutesy. I really can’t decide whether I like this trend or not but there is one exception – these animal heads made purely from paper. Neither cutesy nor sinister, I like that they are just graphic forms of animals in pretty colours and most importantly I like that there are no eyes staring at you (that just creeps me out!). The bunny ones are so cute for a nursery and you can buy them from Chloe Fleury’s shop while the lion one is very cool and is a DIY project by Lille Nord.
Cool woodland style…
August 8, 2013
This morning I was browsing the H&M site when I spotted their new home collection for kids. I immediately got drawn in because of the soft colour palette which includes light pinks, browns and lots of white. I’m a big fan of using pink and brown together and that’s what this collection does well.
The duvet covers, soft toys, storage bins and accessories are based on a woodland theme with large animals printed on many pieces. The whole collection is pretty cool and fun but I especially like that quirky bow-tie wearing deer head. For high-street shopping, H&M is one of my favourite stores because much like this collection, you always get style at very affordable prices.
Garlands galore…
July 24, 2013
One of my favourite ways to brighten up a kids room is to hang up a garland or some bunting. Even the most blah space can instantly come to life with one of these. And of course no kiddy party can be complete without bunting. Currently my favourites are these beautiful handmade ones by Numero 74 which include garlands made from vintage fabrics, crochet garlands and more. And they’ve just added party packs to their range with bunting adorned invitation cards and the prettiest party bags I’ve seen.
You’ll find all these at Mokkasin which is fast becoming a favourite shop of mine not just because of their wonderful selection but also their photo styling is so stunning like in these picture above.
An elephant in the room…
July 23, 2013
I love grey. As I’m getting older I think I’m loving it more and more not only as a colour to wear but also as a colour to decorate with. I’m especially loving it for a nursery because I find the colour quite calming. And besides you can add hints of practically any other colour and it will work with grey. So when I saw this delightful new Elephant crib by Oeuf NYC I thought it would be fun to put together a few things to go with it. The Elephant crib is Oeuf’s latest offering and it really does resemble an elephant, don’t you think? I love the playful design as well as the rounded edges and the whole modern vibe. Here are my picks for a modern grey nursery:
1. Plum & pink hearts garland… 2. Mary Poppins poster… 3. Grey sheep duvet set… 4. Knitted sheep soft toy… 5. Elephant crib… 6. Hanging pendant lights
A playful and stylish store…
July 17, 2013

I’m loving this cute store that I just discovered. The Modern Baby was started by Suzanne, a mama who had a vision of a store full of things that would grow with your child. The Modern Baby has lots of colourful nursery and kids room decorations, bed linen, soft toys and so much more. The product styles include modern, vintage and retro and the looks are all stylish and fun. It’s probably one of the best nursery ranges I’ve come across in a UK store. I’m especially loving the way they’ve photographed their products which perfectly reflects the stores playful and stylish personality. All the products featured are sold by The Modern Baby and the beautiful styling is thanks to talented design agency Supa Frank where you can see lots more photos to drool over. While The Modern Baby is based in the UK they ship worldwide so go take a look… there’s lots to discover.
Baby, it’s a small world…
June 25, 2013
One of my biggest personal ambitions is to see as much of the world as I can and to share this experience with my husband and daughter. I love discovering new cultures, cuisines and places that can seem so different yet familiar at the same time. It fascinates me that the world is getting smaller and nearly everywhere is so accessible these days. My husband and I have a list of places we ‘need’ to visit and are working our way through these whenever we can. Top of our list for a long while had been Argentina and Uruguay and we eventually got there this January. It was a thrill! New list topper is China and we hope to make it there sometime in the next year or two. We do spend far too much time dreaming about all the places we could see right away if we won the lottery… but then again, everyone’s got to have dreams!
We would love our 4 year old daughter to grow up with a curiosity about our small world, about different yet similar cultures, about food and new experiences. To encourage her we bought her a globe for her room and play silly, made-up travel games centered around where she lives, where her extended family live and where she’s going on holiday. Now I’m considering re-doing her room and I’m thinking of complementing the globe with a map of the world on the wall. She can then pin pictures, souvenirs, postcards or whatever she likes and really make it her personal map. But I also think maps make lovely wall art and are as great as any other art for any room in the home.
So I went on the hunt for some kids rooms with maps and the above are what I found. The choices are many ranging from vintage to modern and single countries to the entire world. They can be as colourful and artistic or as traditional and accurate as you like. I’m also loving the idea of having a globe light. Maps are great for encouraging a child to want to know more about our world or their country but they are fabulous wall candy too.
