"shades of blue mood board"Using different shades of the same colour can look quite striking in a kids room or any room.  Some colours work better than others and I think blue is one of the best because it has so many different shades.  So for today’s pinterest colour palette I gathered a range of different tones of blue which I think work equally well for a boy or a girls space.

1.  Vintage wallpaper and chair,  2.  Toy boat,  3.  Woolen cloud decorations,  4.  Girls outfit,  5.  Rag doll and shoes

"H&M baby bedding collection""H&M baby quilts and blankets""H&M baby bedding collection"Who doesn’t have a little soft spot in their heart for H&M?  Even if you don’t, once you see this cuteness I don’t think you’ll be able to resist.  This baby collection of bed linen, towels, toys and more is just the sweetest.  Those elephant cushions are so adorable and so is all that starry bedlinen.  If you haven’t discovered H&M’s home collection for babies yet, check it out because I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Alphabet art…

October 30, 2013

"small toy storage shelves"How fun are these alphabet shelves?  So great for storing all those little toys that never find a home (except under your feet!) but they’d also work just as well as art for your kids walls.  I’m dreaming of one lined-up with lots of little Sonny Angels.  Made by a small NY based design studio called Chiaozza, these alphabet shelves are currently on offer at Fab, where I found them.

"random kids style collage 1"I’ve been collecting a selection of stylish things, ideas and thoughts I’ve liked for a while and today I thought I would share some of them with you.  Hope you like them too!

1.  simple kids room styling…  2. chunky knits on kids…  3.  bright pink and red together…  4.  apostrophe magnets for your fridge… 5. always remember to love yourself…  6. a mini cloud for your daughters wrist.

Have a wonderful weekend!

"pinterest inspired colour palette 3"Today I was feeling drawn to this simple colour palette of soft pinks, greys, creams and a bit of black.  This pinterest colour palette was inspired by that little girl in her very cool outfit.  These colours work so well on an outfit but I especially love them for a kids room.  The next time I decorate Anya’s room, this is the colour palette for me.

1. Girls style,  2. Jealous baby toy,  3. Pompom shoes,  4. Trio of soft toys,  5. Mouse slippers

"linen bedding and cushions for kids"Just look at this stuff; so sophisticated and yet so simple.  This is a new brand from Vienna called Vividgrey started by Sabine, an interior architect, designer and also mama of one.  All the textiles and objects are designed for ‘a home shared between children and grown-ups’ and I can see this stuff working beautifully in any environment.  There are little unexpected surprises in many of the pieces like the cobweb linen curtain where the cobweb detail is only visible when the curtain is back lit.  Or the linen cushions which have a hidden print of a trail of ants or mystery keys which are only revealed when the overlap is opened. "vividgrey baby playbeads and mobiles"Besides the textiles, there are other interesting objects in the collection like that shiny mobile designed to resemble a branch of a tree and those beautiful wooden play beads to entertain even the smallest of babies.   ‘Everyday magic’ is how Sabine describes Vividgrey and I totally believe her.

My secret hideout…

October 18, 2013

"kids play tents and tipis"A mini house within a house has got to be one of childhood’s biggest pleasures.   Hiding out in a play tent or tipi and imaging all sorts of adventures is so much fun for any kid.  I think every little kid should have one whether bought or just put together.  There are so many ways to create a secret hide out and make it work in the space you have like this house shaped bed or that mattress and cushions on the floor with some pretty fabric thrown over.  But the most awesome one has to be that green yurt inside which is that super lucky kids entire bedroom!

Have a fun weekend!

A natural nursery…

October 16, 2013

"natural nursery decor ideas"Lately I’ve been coming across many Scandinavian homes decorated with lots of natural wood.   The look is clean and minimal but still very warm.  So I started thinking about using natural wood with natural colours and fabrics for decorating a baby nursery.   It’s ideal for boy or girl so if you don’t know what you’re having, you can still go ahead and decorate without compromising.  And since the wood is bare, you can even make some of the furniture yourself,  like storage shelves and simple tables.  And the best part is that it’s not a look your child will outgrow in a hurry.  Here are a few things I picked out that would work well in a natural nursery:

1. bear print…  2. toy shelf…  3. elephant soft toy…  4. pale spotted duvet set…  5.  luminous linen star light…  6. caravan crib in natural.

P.S. Have you entered this great giveaway to win a very stylish natural baby carrier

"colour palette of blues, greens, greys"There is something so eye-catching and vibrant about turquoise blue.  So when I spotted that cool turquoise and green room it inspired me for todays pinterest colour palette.  I love using blue and green together whether it’s midnight-blue with emerald green or turquoise with a fresher green like here.  And you can always add a little grey in to the mix if you feel like you need something neutral to balance it out.

1. Turquoise and green kids room,  2. Mountain peaks kids blanket,  3. Baby ballerina shoes,  4.  Howling wolf wallsticker,  5.  Handmade doll twins.

"pinterest inspired colour palette 1"Of all the social media sites out there, I’m enjoying pinterest the most at the moment.  I love looking at pretty pictures and pinterest is full of them.  So I thought it would be fun to occasionally share some of my pins and also pins from other inspirational pinners.  But instead of just sharing pictures randomly, I’ve picked a colour palette and have chosen images within these colours.  So for this first one I’ve gone with black, white, green and the slightest hint of a peachy pink.  I love this combination of colours and think they would work well together in a kids room or even as an outfit.

Are you on pinterest?  Do you love it too or what’s your favourite social media?

1.  Green knitted sweater,  2.  Black and white kids room,  3.  Don’t grow up poster,  4. Green striped jacket,  5.  Cat at the altar doll
