So hektik, so cool

September 8, 2010

Meet Kiki, Mooo, Xi-Xi, Hipp and their friends.  They’re just some of the characters created by the Dutch-Austrain combo, Hektik.  The characters appear on t-shirts, key rings and as rattles and soft toys.  There’s a serious element of Japanese coolness to them which is making me dizzy with desire.

All the characters have a little story to tell – mooo’s got fond memories of India while bzzz is harbouring a secret crush.  You can read all about it on the Hektik site.  The tees come in long and short sleeve, cost €25, the soft toy/rattles cost €19 and shipping is from €4.

"soft toy dolls sophie & lili""sophie & lili doll"

That’s what these dolls are made for, so say Sophie & Lili, their creators.  I’m not the worlds biggest doll fan but when I saw these I instantly became one.  They’re super cute, handmade, one of a kind dolls from America.  They come in blonde, brunette or red-head and I’m so loving the back of each doll which is covered in a different funky fabric to complement the dolls dress.  You can even have your name sewn on to the back, just let them know the name when you order.

These dollies are available from the Sophie & Lili website and cost $25 each plus $5 for shipping across the pond.  They’re perfect as cuddly, huggable toys for toddlers and would make an oh so sweet and girly gift.  They’re also available as minis and I’m thinking perfect pram buddy for a newbee.

Got a robot mad toddler? An American dad had 2 who slept with their pointy, plastic robots. He decided they needed soft robots that were cuddle-able but cool.  Not finding any he made them, and Bunk Bots were born. There are 10 of them, 5 good and 5 bad.  As the story goes, the good ones left work after lunch one day and never returned.  Instead they decided to hang out in toddler bedrooms.  The bad ones with red eyes want to take over the world but till they do, they too snuggle up with the kids.  The bots are surface washable and have a spot on their tag for name writing.  They cost £12.99 each and are the perfect cool soft toy for all the robot lovers out there.

While we’re talking cuddly robots, we couldn’t not tell you about Mr Robot cushions. They’re sure to be a hit with robot fans or give them as a gift to earn super cool status.  Mr Robot comes in 2 sizes, measuring 40 and 50 cms and costs £22 and £29. They’re made by the Danish company Ferm Living, started by a lady after a visit to a clairvoyant!
