"Hand made doll by Dents de Loup"I so wish this had been my attic toy.  You know your favourite soft toy that your mama can’t bear to part with it so she puts it away in the attic.  Fast forward 20 years when you find it and all those warm, fuzzy feelings rush back and you give it to your bambino.  My attic toy was actually quite creepy so it never came out of the attic (mum, what were you thinking?!).   Nowhere near as cool as this oh so adorable hand made doll.  If only…

This stripy knitted doll is by Dents de Loup (wolf teeth)… I love their store name too. They come in other colours including yellow, orange, green and pink.  Perfect for your newborn or a gift for someone else’s.  The little knitted doll can hang out in the cot or pram keeping your bambino company until it graduates to a clutch toy.  So sweet.  I’m not normally a knitted doll fan but then I’d never seen this one.  To get this hand made doll, head to Dents de Loup’s etsy store where they cost $18 plus $5 shipping to anywhere in the world.  And while you’re there, don’t miss the doll with the red shoes and super fancy coat.

Cuddles a la carte

"Knuffels a la carte soft toys"

*Knuffels = cuddles in Dutch

Have you ever seen a more weird and wonderful bunch of characters all in one place? I can honestly say I haven’t.  When I discovered Knuffels a la carte (actually they discovered me… happy days!)  I couldn’t wait to share.  What a fantastically whacky store that makes you want to reach out and grab all the delicious creatures on display. They sell only soft toys but you won’t find any run of the mill ones here. Expect quirky, imaginative, eccentric looking beings for babies, kids and even adults too.

Knuffels a la carte are based in the Netherlands but stock soft toys from around the globe.  I can only think of their goodies as the creme de la creme of soft toys. On offer are a variety of soft creatures of every description including soft toy dolls, a very cool soft toy mouse called Snooshy (don’t miss his scarf!), a soft toy alien and even a cuddly cactus. If you fancy a cuddle from one of these quirky chaps, head over to Knuffels a la carte. Prices start from €7.50, there’s plenty in the €20-€30 price range and shipping to Europe is from €4.  They ship worldwide too from €7.50.  The really difficult bit is choosing just one.

"La Sardine doudou kit"… with a little help of course.  Check out these quirky little beasts by the French la Sardine.  You get a complete soft toy making kit with a pattern, the fabric, instructions and even the stuffing.   If sewing isn’t your thing, I bet you can still give this a go.  And after you’re done, you can proudly say that you actually made a soft toy for your bambino.  Impressive!  On offer are a range of creatures, all with quirky but cool looks.  My favourite has got to be the black chicken type thing but they’re all pretty cool.  I’m even wondering if I should put my non-existent sewing skills to the test.  Visit La Sardine where you’ll find lots of these soft toy kits and other DIY kits too.

"crochet fish toy"

Oh my god… how sweet are these crochet fish or fish bones, should I say?  I’m pretty darn partial to crochet goodies anyway but it’s been a while since I’ve seen something so super-duper cute!  And never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be lusting after fish bones.  I’m loving the endless nursery decoration possibilities they offer.  Think hanging decor, think framing in to wall art, think sewing on to a plain cot bumper, embellishing toy storage boxes, make your own baby mobile… I really could go on forever.  Apart from the fish, there’s also a little brown crochet owl on offer which too is super cute.  All these sweeties are made by a lady called Emel from Turkey and are available from her etsy shop called Hayalce.  The small fish bones cost $16 while the large cost $22 plus $5 for shipping. Go, get yourself some fish!

"Donna Wilson soft toys"

I have long been a fan of Donna Wilson.  Her sense of design peppered with a dash of eclectic, results in creations so quirky and cool.  And of all her unique creations, I’ve always been particularly fascinated by her creatures or soft toys.  What characters they are, each wonderfully weird with their unusual shapes and exaggerated features.  Today I’m lusting after the birdies, Rosie and Berty to be specific.  They’re large, measuring 60cms not including their long, dangly legs.  I’m loving the idea of placing one of these in a nursery space to add some unexpected quirky style.  Head on over to Donna Wilson’s web space where you’ll find these birdies for £40.50 a piece with delivery at £4.  While you’re there, don’t miss Peeping Tom and Edd Red Head.  They definitely won’t disappoint!

P.S. Don’t forget to check out our baby auction site packed with bargains.

"KLT works soft toys for babies"

Ooh… the colours, the bold fabrics, the little characters all together are making my excitement levels shoot through the roof!  I love discovering a super creative mama and that’s just what today is about.  KLT: works is the label of Kristin Loffer Theiss, an American mama of one.  She makes the yummiest looking soft toys, mobiles, cushions and more.  And her formula for creating such beauties: everything’s made by hand with lots of heart and bags of passion.  A winning formula if you ask me!  Back to these little soft toys, each character comes with a little expression (have you seen the wise owl?) and gigantic eyes in colours so hot, I could cry!  The soft toys cost between $25 and $40 and shipping is $15 (to the UK but of course cheaper to the US).  Check out Kristin’s creations at KLT: works and prepare to be wowed.

*KLT: works spotted at Spunky Sprout.

"K Studio pillows, wall art for kids"

Yesterday I stumbled across K Studio and it was love.  Michigan based mother and daughter create the most stylish pillows, bags and wall art.  Simplicity and minimalism are mixed with bags of charm to create quirky and cool designs.  In terms of colours, off whites and sandy beige’s dominate with fine black childlike drawings and the odd hint of orange, red and pale blue.  And their stuff isn’t just for the kids.  I can see their creations feeling perfectly at home in a kiddy space or an adult space.  Have a look and don’t miss the chap who wears his heart on his sleeve or the pretty bird pillow.  There’s also that cat pouch which would make a sweet pencil case.  I could go on but I’ll let you discover more at K Studio.  They deliver internationally and prices start from around $30 plus shipping from $10.  This mother and daughter are a class act, if you ask me.

Bholu, I love you!

"Bholu ignatius critter"

My heart is pounding boom-boody-boom, my head is giddy with excitement all because I have discovered Bholu.  What beautiful stuff with an equally beautiful ethos behind it.  The creation of Aussie designer Jodie Fried, Bholu supports rural and urban communities in India.  The artisans hand craft and embroider each piece while the drawings are by children from the underprivileged slums of India.  Bholu also supports and helps with the building of schools in India.  Respect to Jodie.

Back to the Bholu creations though (lest you think I’ve gone all gooey), they’re oh so high on style injected with lashings of simplicity to create hugely wantable goodies.  On offer are cushions, wallpaper, throws, night lights and soft toys all embellished with the sweetest of kiddy drawings.  The colours are a combo of bold and neutral often with the subtlest of embroidery which is truly wow.  I love it all but if I had to pick a favourite, well I’ve fallen madly for Ignatius Critter.  To checkout these wonderful creations, head to the Bholu website and once you’re done drooling, checkout their stockists for retailers in Europe, USA and worldwide.

"Oeuf NYC tooth fairy pillow"

Oeuf NYC.  I’m a huge fan and have been for a while.  Until recently a little trip across the pond was needed in order to get your hands on their goodies.  But no more.  And today I’m sharing a small little something of theirs that’s been on my want list for ages. But we’re not at the teeth loosing stage yet or not even close.  When the time comes I want this tooth.  A sweet tooth.  Made from eco-friendly luxurious alpaca wool by some lovely ladies in Bolivia (Oeuf is big on fairtrade), this tooth makes for a cuddly little friend.  And when that first tooth is gone, the tooth fairy (or even you) can leave a little stash in the back pocket.  The Oeuf NYC tooth fairy pillow costs £14.50 plus delivery at €9.  Oeuf NYC’s goodies don’t end here so I’ll be bringing you more… watch this space.

"elephant musical toy"

Ooh… the Frenchies have done it again.  This time in the guise of a shop called Clemence G.  Bursting with goodies in colours so bright, you might need to don a pair of sunnys!  It’s a space filled with bambino bedding, nursery decor, soft toys,  t-shirts, wrapping paper and more.  All in hot, bold colours teamed with quirky graphics and funky prints.  I’m lovin’ it.  And in even hotter news, there’s more than a bit of a sale on with stuff up to 60% off and free delivery on sale stuff even to the UK!  So if you’re a colour mad mama, now would be a good time to strike.  And while you’re there do check out the chicken carpet… quirkylicious and cool at it’s best!  The site’s in French but very easy to navigate around (despite my non-existent knowledge of French) or else just click the translate button on google and job done (google’s quite clever like that). Check out Clemence G… it’s seriously funky!  (So much that I’ve just ordered a tee).
