At the moment I can’t seem to get enough of Scandinavian style black & white interiors. It’s such a clean and striking look for any room. So I’ve put together some things I’m really loving for a Scandi inspired black & white baby nursery.
I’ve been in love with these handmade dolls by Evangelione for some time now. When I saw this new doll exhibition called ‘You pretty little thing’, my fascination of these extraordinary beings just grew. The name of the exhibition is perfect for the little creatures who are so life-like, it’s truly quite amazing. I love the way Yeo Mei Ying, the creator has shown the dolls playing different games like hop-scotch and blind mans buff and that hair on those dolls… I mean wow! I also love the personality that comes through each doll like that red top wearing doll expressing her impatience and boredom through crossed arms. This exhibition was in Malaysia so not exactly next door but if you are after any of these handmade dolls, you can find a list of stockists on Evangelioneand to see lots more of this delightful exhibition visit Yeo Mei’s flickr.
Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to all the kiddies starting school for the first time ever next week!
Today I want to introduce you to my newest sponsor Noeuf. Noeuf is a French boutique full of covetable things for babies and kids. There are carefully selected clothes, toys, accessories and more on offer. Whether you’re buying your new baby essentials or looking for a cool gift, you’ll find something at Noeuf. At the moment Noeuf are getting in all their new Autumn/Winter 2013 collections and from the new stuff I’m loving that tree adorned all in one by Bobo Choses. I’m also loving those cute party invitations by Barnabe Aime le Cafe. Noeuf’s selection of goodies is fun and stylish and I’m glad to have them as my newest sponsors.
This morning I was browsing the H&M site when I spotted their new home collection for kids. I immediately got drawn in because of the soft colour palette which includes light pinks, browns and lots of white. I’m a big fan of using pink and brown together and that’s what this collection does well. The duvet covers, soft toys, storage bins and accessories are based on a woodland theme with large animals printed on many pieces. The whole collection is pretty cool and fun but I especially like that quirky bow-tie wearing deer head. For high-street shopping, H&M is one of my favourite stores because much like this collection, you always get style at very affordable prices.
I love grey. As I’m getting older I think I’m loving it more and more not only as a colour to wear but also as a colour to decorate with. I’m especially loving it for a nursery because I find the colour quite calming. And besides you can add hints of practically any other colour and it will work with grey. So when I saw this delightful new Elephant crib by Oeuf NYC I thought it would be fun to put together a few things to go with it. The Elephant crib is Oeuf’s latest offering and it really does resemble an elephant, don’t you think? I love the playful design as well as the rounded edges and the whole modern vibe. Here are my picks for a modern grey nursery:
I’m loving this cute store that I just discovered. The Modern Baby was started by Suzanne, a mama who had a vision of a store full of things that would grow with your child. The Modern Baby has lots of colourful nursery and kids room decorations, bed linen, soft toys and so much more. The product styles include modern, vintage and retro and the looks are all stylish and fun. It’s probably one of the best nursery ranges I’ve come across in a UK store. I’m especially loving the way they’ve photographed their products which perfectly reflects the stores playful and stylish personality. All the products featured are sold by The Modern Baby and the beautiful styling is thanks to talented design agency Supa Frank where you can see lots more photos to drool over. While The Modern Baby is based in the UK they ship worldwide so go take a look… there’s lots to discover.
Playing superheroes is something my daughter never tires of. After all when you’re a superhero anything is possible. Her self-assigned missions change frequently but her favourite is to rescue me from a pool of hungry crocodiles and thankfully she always saves the day (or my life!). I haven’t yet got her a cape and mask set which I know she will love, but at the moment she is happy improvising with things she finds around the house. When I decide to get her one I’m loving these gorgeous linen sets by Kathryn Davey. Simple and stylish, the colours are really lovely too and there’s even a soft pink one for all those girly girls. Kathryn Davey also makes those superhero soft toys. I love that they too are made of linen and are so cute but never cutesy. All the cape and mask sets and soft toys are handmade in San Francisco, making them even more special.
Mixing prints and patterns is bang on trend at the moment. Polka dots with stripes, bold florals with graphic patterns and clashing colours can all work so well together in an outfit. Maybe the theory of ‘opposites attract’ is true after all. Being more of a minimalist, this is one trend I haven’t fully got the hang of but I’m trying. I’ve been looking for inspiration and guess where I found it? You guessed it… in these cats! Taking fashion advice from a cat seems more than a bit crazy but these cats really know how to mix patterns and make them work, don’t you think? I just love each and every combination on offer. This new cat shop is called You Little and all the soft toy cats are handmade by a French mama. The cat is called Kim but she takes on many exciting looks from colourful vintage florals to pastel polka dots. Apart from their chic fashion sense, there is so much more to love about these cats even for non-cat lovers like me. The oversized bow-ties, their sleepy expressions and not to mention their cuteness levels. Oh, and I’m sure the kids will love these soft toys too! You’ll find these lovely soft toys at Youttle where you can even have your child’s name embroidered on or you can also find a selection at the stylish Little You boutique. And next time you see me wearing bold patterns and prints, you’ll know where I got my inspiration!
