11 Polka dotted lovelies

September 26, 2011

"polka dots for kids"

I love polka dots.  It’s such a simple design that works so well on many things, especially things for kids.  I’ve picked out some polka dotted lovelies for you and your bambinos:

1.  These polka dot ballet shoes were the inspiration behind this post.  When I saw them, it was instant lust. How adorable are they?! I love the red and white with the black trim and bow.  So stunning.  They’re made by Sayang Design, a Japanese store with the most delicious shoes for kids.*

2.  This bambi-esque tee is made special with the addition of the navy blue polka dots.  So sweet.  This too is from a Japanese store and this store is called Enjoy 2u 2u 4u.*

3.  A baby shower invite with chicks and polka dots.  I’m liking the blue-brown colour combo and the simple design.  Love the little chicks too.  This polka dots baby shower invite comes from an Etsy store called Paper by Jill M.

4.  A little mustard coloured polka dot pencil case by Lale, one of my favourite French brands.  Lale also make very chic retro inspired suitcases for kids and mama’s and lovely girly hair clips too.  This polka dots pencil case is from smallable.com where you’ll find lots of Lale’s other goodies too.

5. More gorgeous shoes by Sayang Design.  These ones are perfect for boy or girl, don’t you think?

6.  Vintage inspired cushions by a cool French store called Les Choses Bizarres.  The store name means ‘weird things’ but the goodies on offer are definitely more wonderful then weird!  Visit Les Choses Bizarres where you’ll find these polka dot cushions for kids as well as some vintage looking bibs, pencil cases and more.

7. A navy and white polka dot cardigan for the girlies. I love the hint of red thrown in.  This is yet another Japanese find made by Cri de Joie and comes from a store called Esserini.*

8. I couldn’t resist this polka dot felt garland.  The vibrant colours and the simple circle shapes are just so attractive.  I found this over on a blog called Living with Punks where there’s a tutorial so you can make your own.

9.  Wow! Loving this navy polka dots satchel so much. So chic, so stylish.  It could be used as a school bag but this one’s really for all you mama’s.  Made by Zatchels you can get it at Liberty’s or try Zatchels own site where they have many colours on offer including a bold and beautiful red one.  Seriously tempting!

10. A very quirky and cool cloth doll wearing a bright orange polka dot dress.  This doll is hand made in Israel and comes from Timor’s etsy store.  All her cloth dolls are handmade and are one of a kind so once they’re gone, they’re gone!

11. Last is another pair of shoes from Sayang Design for the boys. Love the teal colour. I think you’ve probably guessed by now that I’m crazy about Sayang Design’s shoes for the bambinos!

Rubber stamp sets to wow

September 5, 2011

"safari stamp set for kids"

"dachshund dog rubber stamp set"

"penguin stamp set for kids"

When I came across Tara Hogan’s shop I was smitten.  Rubber stamp sets don’t usually have that effect on me but these ones are oh so lovely.  On offer are a range of beautiful animal stamp sets including a safari one, an elephant one and the cutest ‘darling dachshund’ one.  Just check out the boots on that dachshund!  Also on offer is a ‘Day in Paris’ set which is adorable too.   But it’s not just the stamp sets that I’m excited about, it’s the lovely packaging too.  Little match box like cardboard boxes with a ribbon to open them is what you get.  Every detail in these sets has been injected with beautiful little touches.  While these stamp sets are perfect for kids, I don’t think I could resist having a go myself.  To check out Tara Hogan’s beautiful rubber stamp sets head to her etsy store.  The sets cost from $18 and shipping is worldwide.

"Bakker made with love pencil cases"

I love shiny stuff.  Be it bags or shoes or copper pans, as long as it shines I’ll be drawn to it like a bee to honey.  So naturally these super shiny vinyl pencil cases by Bakker Made with Love score top marks in my book.  The colours are so bold they almost pop through the screen.  All the more reason to covet these pencil cases.  But if colour’s not your thing, they also have a shiny black pencil case as well as a brown one.  If you feel as partial to them as I do, you might want to check out the matching Bakker Made with Love school bags.  They too are delectable and the pair would make quite the style kit for the new school year.  These Bakker pencil cases can be found at Smallable for £9.68 each plus shipping at around a fiver to Europe but they ship worldwide too.  I’m fancying one for me too… you’re never too old for a pencil case, are you?

"boumaga stylish stationery for children"I have never made a secret of my near obsessive stationery addiction.  I had a couple of good years where it was under control but then ebabee no.1 came along and a whole new world of kiddy stationery opened up to me.  I fell off the wagon with a thud (I had gained baby weight, ok?) and I don’t think I’ll be climbing back on anytime soon. Definitely not after what I’ve seen today.

A short while ago I came across Boumaga, a French brand that makes the sweetest stationery I have seen in the longest while.  Russian doll / babushka inspired graphics adorn pencils, rulers, pencil cases, notebooks and erasers.  The graphics are no more than an outline with a few embellishments in mainly purple or pink.  It’s this simplicity of design that makes the Boumaga stationery so stylish and very cute too.  Boumaga is new and isn’t yet widely available but you can order direct from their site.  They do thankfully ship to the UK and the whole EU for €9.30.  The Boumaga range costs from €1.50 to €15.  I’m seriously tempted, that addiction won’t feed itself!

P.S. I love the idea of the pencil and eraser as a party favour.

"Alice Melvin cut out menagerie"I’m a big fan of Alice Melvin and her paper goods.  A while ago, I brought you her fantastic Cut Out and Make Bird Mobile.  Today I chanced upon the Cut Out and Make Menagerie and just had to share.  You’ve got the whole lot in this menagerie from the birds and bees to the big beasts.  There’s a total of 12 animals all made out of heavy paper, to cut out and make but the one that stole my heart was the elephant… it’s so pretty in all it’s Indian glory!  And once made, there’ll be hours of fun playing zoo.  To get Alice Melvin’s Cut Out and Make Menagerie visit the Tate Gallery Shop where it costs £7.50 plus £3.60 delivery.

"newborn baby book"

"piqpoq baby newborn book"

"piq poq contemporary baby book"

Ooh… finally, a baby book without a hint of cutesy-ness in sight.  If you’re a regular, you’ll know that cutesy and me just don’t mix.  So, when I spotted this baby book by Piqpoq I loved it.  Its uber modern, uber cool and very contemporary looks are just the ticket.  I’m loving the bright and simple graphics, the design and pretty much everything about this book.  It’s hard bound and comes in it’s own cardboard case so all the better to preserve it for years and years.  This modern baby book is by the fabby Frenchies and you can find it at a store called Present & Correct for £16.50 plus £2.75 shipping.

"Clementine Arts crayons"

I never thought I would use the word ‘beautiful’ to describe crayons but these ones by Clementine Art are just that.  And it’s not just the crayons that are super delicious looking, there are equally fab looking paints, play doughs and marker pens on offer too.  Apart from their beauty, all of Clementine Arts stuff is natural. Certified non-toxic and environmentally friendly, there are no nasties here.  Perfect for your little budding artists then.  To get these artist supplies for your little one head to Clementine Art’s site where a set of crayons cost $5.99, the paint set costs $13.99 and the play dough costs $9.99.  But if like me you end up lusting after it all, you can get the gift set which includes all their products for $49.99.  And it looks as if shipping is free… fab!  Nothing excites me more than seeing everyday objects injected with lashings of style and beauty and Clementine Arts have achieved just that.

P.S. Have you visited ebabee, our baby auction site packed with bargains?

"mimi lou bord school bag"

Elephants have long been a hot favourite around here.  They just work so well on kiddy stuff.  But recently I’ve been feeling the love for birdies too.  I’ve been finding some super lovely stuff embellished with birds and this school bag is no exception.  It’s so sweet!  The teeny tiny polka dots, the little delicate bird and the bold orange straps make for a bag so wantable.  Which little girl isn’t gonna want this?  Or for that matter, which big girl too.  This sweet bag is by the French Mimi’Lou who create some delicate looking delectables from wall stickers to stationary and more.  This bird school bag by Mimi’lou costs €45 and they deliver to most of Europe.

P.S. While it’s the bird that I’ve featured here, there’s also an equally delectable rabbit one for the boys.

P.P.S. Have you visited ebabee, our baby auction site yet?

"Children's birthday cards"

I’m really not feeling the love for kids birthday cards at the mo.  There’s nothing wrong with them but after a while they all seem samey and boring (snore).  But on the weekend I stumbled across Ask Alice, a little store buried deep in the Australian corner of the internet and boy, did I like!  Ask Alice doesn’t stop at making wow birthday cards, they also make gift tags, notebooks and postcards, all with bags of style and beauty.  Apart from the super graphics, it’s the style of paper used that really bring these stationary bits to life.  I could buy it all… if you’ve been reading regularly you’ll know that I’m a bit of a stationery fiend.  The cards cost AUD20 for a set of 5 (isn’t the whale one a cutie?!), the gift tags are AUD15 for 6 and the notebooks are AUD18.  Ask Alice ships to the UK from AUD3.10.

If beautiful notebooks are your thing, don’t miss the Darling Clementine ones.

"darling clementine notebooks"I’m a bit of a sucker for delectable stationary.  It’s kind of like a more-ish snack… the more you have the more you want.  I buy it and end up hoarding cos it’s almost too good to use.  Sound familiar? If it does then I’ve found you some uber-cute notebooks to add to your stationary stash.  Darling  Clementine is a small Norwegian design agency that’s big (huge even)  on talent.  They create some amazingly cool and colourful graphics which then adorn their stationary and homewares.  Amongst their lovelies are these notebooks.  Droolworthy, don’t you think?  I’m seriously tempted… one for me to add to my stash (!) and one for the bambino to scribble on when her patience is waning (given the frequency she might need 2).  You can get them for £4.50 a piece plus delivery from Nineteen Seventy Three, a stationary shop with lots of goodies.
