These party animal pumpkins are probably the coolest decorated pumpkins I’ve seen! These Disney inspired pumpkins are very easy to make but can you guess the characters? These bejeweled pumpkins would be great for adding a bit of bling to your Halloween table. These DIY donut pumpkins look good enough to eat, don’t you think?
I’ve been collecting a selection of stylish things, ideas and thoughts I’ve liked for a while and today I thought I would share some of them with you. Hope you like them too!
Today I was feeling drawn to this simple colour palette of soft pinks, greys, creams and a bit of black. This pinterest colour palette was inspired by that little girl in her very cool outfit. These colours work so well on an outfit but I especially love them for a kids room. The next time I decorate Anya’s room, this is the colour palette for me.
Just look at this stuff; so sophisticated and yet so simple. This is a new brand from Vienna called Vividgrey started by Sabine, an interior architect, designer and also mama of one. All the textiles and objects are designed for ‘a home shared between children and grown-ups’ and I can see this stuff working beautifully in any environment. There are little unexpected surprises in many of the pieces like the cobweb linen curtain where the cobweb detail is only visible when the curtain is back lit. Or the linen cushions which have a hidden print of a trail of ants or mystery keys which are only revealed when the overlap is opened.Besides the textiles, there are other interesting objects in the collection like that shiny mobile designed to resemble a branch of a tree and those beautiful wooden play beads to entertain even the smallest of babies. ‘Everyday magic’ is how Sabine describes Vividgrey and I totally believe her.
A mini house within a house has got to be one of childhood’s biggest pleasures. Hiding out in a play tent or tipi and imaging all sorts of adventures is so much fun for any kid. I think every little kid should have one whether bought or just put together. There are so many ways to create a secret hide out and make it work in the space you have like this house shaped bed or that mattress and cushions on the floor with some pretty fabric thrown over. But the most awesome one has to be that green yurt inside which is that super lucky kids entire bedroom!
Lately I’ve been coming across many Scandinavian homes decorated with lots of natural wood. The look is clean and minimal but still very warm. So I started thinking about using natural wood with natural colours and fabrics for decorating a baby nursery. It’s ideal for boy or girl so if you don’t know what you’re having, you can still go ahead and decorate without compromising. And since the wood is bare, you can even make some of the furniture yourself, like storage shelves and simple tables. And the best part is that it’s not a look your child will outgrow in a hurry. Here are a few things I picked out that would work well in a natural nursery:
It feels a little early to talk Christmas but in this house we’ve learned our lesson and realise we need to think ahead. Not only because of Christmas but also because it’s my daughter Anya’s birthday just a little before Christmas. Which means more gifts, a party and a very busy time for me. This December we’ve decided that we’ll give her a big gift for her birthday and then just little stocking fillers for Christmas. My usual style is to go tearing around at the last minute but this year I am determined be a lot more organised and so, I started buying her stocking fillers about a month ago (I know, I can’t believe it myself!). Also this helps spread the costs over a few months and I don’t end up getting desperate and buying stuff just for the sake of it. I thought I would share my finds in case they gave you some ideas and inspire you to start planning ahead if you’re a last minute type too:
Baby wearing was one of those things that passed me by. I did briefly look in to it but found that some carriers were a bit too girly so my husband would never use it and others just didn’t look easy enough to put on by myself. With all the other stuff you have to deal with when you first have a baby, I soon forgot about getting a carrier. Looking back I can think of so may occasions where one would have been a life saver. Like the many times I traveled on my own to India. I came to dread the whole security scenario where I had to take off my shoes, coat and then take my baby out of the pram and hold her while trying to fold the pram and carry the hand luggage and all the time wishing for an extra pair of hands. I think it would have been very useful around the house too. When Anya was crying I could have easily carried her and still had my hands free but instead, I had to stop whatever I was doing and soothe her before getting back to my chores. So today I wanted to introduce you to the stylish Budu baby carrier and I’m giving one away to one lucky reader (read on for the giveaway details). The budu baby carrier probably would have been the one for me had it been available at the time. I love the whole clean, modern vibe and I know my husband would have happily worn it too. Apart from the looks, the carrier is made of natural soft bamboo fabric, vegetable tanned leather straps and looks super easy to wear. Even if you’re past the baby years, this would make a great gift for any new or expectant mum. The Budu baby carrier is the creation of Danielle, a model, a mum and now a designer too. In addition to the carrier, Danielle has just added a beautiful nappy bag to her collection.
