"nursery fabric wall stickers"

I do love wall stickers for kiddy spaces but recently I’d been coming across ones that all seemed a bit samey.  Then I got an email from 41 Orchard and when I checked them out, I began to feel the love again.  41 Orchard are from Australia and create wonderful kids wall stickers that are simple but ever so beautiful.  And in even better news, they have generously offered one of my readers the chance to win a $100 (AUD) voucher to spend at their store.  To enter all you have to do is leave a comment below with an answer to the question “What is your favourite colour scheme for the modern kids room?” and I’ll pick a winner at random.  You’ll find the full details of entry at the bottom of this post.

Back to 41 Orchard and their lovely offerings.  They bring you fabric wall stickers that will add a touch of fun and charm to a nursery or a kids room.  There are animals, trees, cars, hot air balloons, chalkboard stickers and much more on offer.  All the colours are soft yet bold with lots of reds, greens, blues and lots of yellow which is my favourite colour for a modern nursery.  Speaking of favourites, I’m definitely loving the elephant stickers as I’m a huge fan of elephants anyway but the giraffes and turtle family are the other ones I’m lusting after.  If you’re the lucky winner you can of course choose the ones you love best.  To check out their lovely and ever so sweet collection, head to 41 Orchard and start picking your favourites… that’s not going to be easy!

"atsuyo et akiko babies and kids"I’ve known about Atsuyo et Akiko for ages and have been meaning to share for a while so here it is today.  It’s a wonderful New York boutique where you can find a little bit of magic.  Magic for babies and a bit for boys but mostly for the girls.  On offer are fabulously girly necklaces, hair pins and tutu’s, shiny sparkly shoes and cute bracelets.  But the other thing that really caught my eye were the tee’s and onesies they have.  I’m not a fan of cartoon character adorned clothes but these one’s with mickey mouse and winnie the pooh just work.  I absolutely love the charcoal tee with the gold mickey silhouette.  There are also other very cool tee’s like the strawberry one and more.

The collection of goodies at Atsuyo et Akiko is fresh, it’s different and even a bit ecclectic.  The boutique is owned by two ladies, one with a fashion background and the other with a fine arts one.  The marriage of these two backgrounds shines through in their creations and their take on turning everyday fashion in to something a bit more special.  To feel the magic, head to Atsuyo et Akiko and and check out all their wonderful goodies.

A boat mobile so lovely!

January 19, 2012

"fabric boat mobile for babies"

I love mobiles.  I’m almost tempted to have another baby just so I can buy more mobiles (almost!).  When I discovered this new one from the fabulous little boutique called Petits Parisiens I couldn’t wait to share.  I love the boutique and everything in it and this boat mobile is their latest gorgeous addition.  The little boats are made of bright printed fabrics that come in 2 colour schemes – one for the boys and one for the girls.  But I think either can work for boy or girl.  To check out this boat mobile and all the other goodies on offer, head to Petits Parisiens.  If you’re as mobile mad as me, don’t miss these whimiscal mice mobiles and these seriously stunning bird mobiles.

"cashmere dress for girls on sale"

"scandinavian kids clothes"

"scandinavian dresses for girls"

Yesterday I went to a Scandinavian kids clothes shopping event hosted by Scandinavian Minimall.  What can I say except ooh la, la!  The threads on offer were just delectable and needless to say I got a bit carried away with the shopping.  One of the brands that really stood out for me was Pale Cloud.  I’d heard of them but hadn’t touched, seen, felt their clothes and when I did it was instant love.  The fabrics are so soft, so lovely, the styles simple and elegant.  There’s lots of gorgeous cashmere, some scrumptious silk and cottons on offer for babies and girls.  Pale cloud was started by a Norwegian mama called Marion and this Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is her first and what a collection it is.   To be honest, the pictures don’t do it the justice it deserves… you really need to see the pieces to fully appreciate their beauty.  And in even better news, Scandinavian Minimall is having a fantastic sale so you can pick up these pieces at massive discounts… but there’s not much left so you’ve got to be quick.

Hand made dolls so cute!

"handmade fabric dolls"

"hand made fabric doll"

"hand made dolls with vintage fabrics"

I was never very in to dolls when I was growing up.  I had a big brother and I guess I wanted to be like him so I played with his boy toys.  Fast forward several years (I won’t say how many!) and I’m now obsessed with dolls especially since I keep finding gorgeous ones like these.  How sweet are they?!  These handmade dolls by Warm Sugar are crafted in Illinois and dressed in the cutest clothes made out of a mix of vintage and designer fabrics.  I love their whole hat and scarf ensemble and I just love their adorable expressions.  Shannon, the designer also offers custom dolls where you can choose hair and eye colours, skin tone and colour of clothes so your bambino can choose exactly what she wants.  To check out these dolls head to Warm Sugar on etsy.

"crochet toys"

"crochet lion toy"

"crochet toys for babies"

"crochet baby blanket and rattle"

"crochet elephant toys"

When I saw these crochet toys, I was besotted.  Admittedly I’m a bit of a crochet junkie but these toys and crochet blankets are possibly the most beautiful ones I’ve ever come across.  They’re made in sunny Argentina by a mama who clearly has lots and lots of talent, imagination and creativity.  I’m loving the lion rattle with his gorgeous little crochet bed and blanket.  The elephant toy is lovely too as are the blankets.  In fact it’s all quite stunning!  I’m also loving the colours… mostly soft tones but sometimes complimented with a hint of colour.  I could go on and on but I’ll leave you to discover the rest at Miga de Pan.  There doesn’t seem to be a shop yet but you can email the mama in question if you’d like to buy.  I’m so, so tempted!

P.S. Have you seen these crochet fish bones?

"cool baby blankets"

Cutesy, frilly baby stuff just doesn’t cut it for me so when I read words like ‘adult-friendly baby items’ my interest is immediately peaked.   That’s what I read about Superfly Lullabies and I had to check out their stuff.  I found some very cool baby blankets, pillows and bibs.  All the goodies are made from bold and bright fabrics sourced from hot design hubs like Japan, Scandinavia and USA and are then handcrafted in to funky and fun blankets, bibs and more.  I’m loving the modern Matryoshka blanket which also doubles up as a baby playmat as do all the blankets.  The bold red and white polka dotted print is another of my favourites.  Superfly Lullabies was started by Julie, a mama who believes baby stuff should be refined and stylish, not fussy and frilly… just my kind of mama.  To check out her collection visit Superfly Lullabies where you’ll find her shop too.

"wooden bowling set for kids"

"wooden house shaped blocks for kids"

"wooden stacking toy for kids"

I’m a huge fan of Japanese toys for kids, especially wooden ones.  The Japanese somehow manage to take a piece of wood and turn it in to something so simple yet so beautiful.  Today it’s all about Chigo toys from Japan.  I’ve had my eye on these toys for a while and once you see them you’ll know why they’re so special.  I love the simplicity of the shapes and the combination of lots of natural wood with splashes of bold colour.  My favourite is the house shaped blocks set but the wooden bowling set is a goodie too.  You can buy the house blocks* from Gretel Home who ship worldwide or you can just admire the toys over at Chigo.jp.  And while you’re there, don’t miss the very cool wooden camera and play phone.

"april showers by polder"

April Showers is a fabulous French brand offering bed linen, clothes, shoes and accessories for the kiddies.  I’ve known about them for ages but just realised I hadn’t shared and they’re definitely not one to miss out!  Created by 2 sisters from the Netherlands, Aprils Showers is the mini version of their adult brand Polder.  The styles on offer are contemporary with a touch of vintage and lots of charm.  On offer are gorgeous accessories including leather bags, fun necklaces, cool shoes, simple but stylish clothes and more.  There’s definitely more for the girls but there are some trendy boots and gloves for the boys too.  You can check out check out April Showers’ global stockists on their site or you can find a selection of their goodies which are currently on sale at Little Fashion Gallery

"black and white nursery"

Black and white may not be the most obvious choice of colours for a nursery but when I saw this one, I thought it looked fantastic.  Very chic, very minimal but not cold in any way.  I love the abundance of white that has been brought to life with careful touches of black and hints of yellow and natural wood.  This black and white nursery is the creation of Susanna Vento who is an interior designer from Finland.  But it’s not just the colours that are getting me excited, it’s all the furniture and the little details too.  I’m loving the Baltic rocking horse, the hanging storage basket and the garland with the hanging onesies.  I’m a huge fan of Scandinavian style for a reason and this nursery is the perfect example of how they just get it!

P.S. Here are some more nursery decor ideas for you to check out.
