If you’re not in to bold, bright colours but on the other hand find white spaces too blah,  pastels can work really well for your nursery or kids room.   With pastels you can choose to go with just one tone keeping it more minimal or you can mix a range of pastel shades to create a more colourful room.   Here are 5 pastel rooms to inspire you:

"minimal pastel baby nursery"

This is a beautiful minimal space by Aurelie Lecuyer with pastel walls that are complimented with pastel accessories like the bedding and cushions.   I love how the colours don’t take over the room but instead it’s that vintage cot that really shines and everything else works so well with it.

Room for two…

"ideas for shared rooms for kids""kids shared room ideas"

Recently, a friend of mine was debating about whether to separate her two kids or leave them together in one room.  As kids, my brother and I always shared a room.  Even though we could have had separate rooms, my parents always kept us together.  I have to admit it was a lot more fun that way.  What’s better than having a partner in crime when you sneak around after being put to bed?  Or when you hide under the covers with a torch and play for hours, with your parents none the wiser?  So of course my advice to her was to keep them together without question.  And to convince her i even offered to find her some inspiration for shared kids rooms.  These were my favourite finds and so I’m sharing them here in case they inspire you too.

"colour palette of blues, greens, greys"There is something so eye-catching and vibrant about turquoise blue.  So when I spotted that cool turquoise and green room it inspired me for todays pinterest colour palette.  I love using blue and green together whether it’s midnight-blue with emerald green or turquoise with a fresher green like here.  And you can always add a little grey in to the mix if you feel like you need something neutral to balance it out.

1. Turquoise and green kids room,  2. Mountain peaks kids blanket,  3. Baby ballerina shoes,  4.  Howling wolf wallsticker,  5.  Handmade doll twins.

Garlands galore…

July 24, 2013

"vintage bunting vintage garlands"One of my favourite ways to brighten up a kids room is to hang up a garland or some bunting.  Even the most blah space can instantly come to life with one of these.  And of course no kiddy party can be complete without bunting.  Currently my favourites are these beautiful handmade ones by Numero 74 which include garlands made from vintage fabrics, crochet garlands and more.  And they’ve just added party packs to their range with bunting adorned invitation cards and the prettiest party bags I’ve seen.  "handmade kids party decorations"You’ll find all these at Mokkasin which is fast becoming a favourite shop of mine not just because of their wonderful selection but also their photo styling is so stunning like in these picture above.

"modern nursery bedding and cushions""cute rugs for kids rooms""modern nursery boutique uk"I’m loving this cute store that I just discovered.  The Modern Baby was started by Suzanne, a mama who had a vision of a store full of things that would grow with your child.  The Modern Baby has lots of colourful nursery and kids room decorations, bed linen, soft toys and so much more.  The product styles include modern, vintage and retro and the looks are all stylish and fun. It’s probably one of the best nursery ranges I’ve come across in a UK store.  I’m especially loving the way they’ve photographed their products which perfectly reflects the stores playful and stylish personality.  All the products featured are sold by The Modern Baby and the beautiful styling is thanks to talented design agency Supa Frank where you can see lots more photos to drool over.  While The Modern Baby is based in the UK they ship worldwide so go take a look… there’s lots to discover.

"french bedlinen for kids"Today, I’m delighted to introduce you to my newest sponsor Petit Home.  As the name suggests, Petit Home is a shop filled with delightful home accessories and decorations for babies and kids.  The owner Amelie is French so you’ll find many beautiful French brands in her store including some of my favourites like April Showers, Mimi’Lou and Zu.  In addition to the French brands, Amelie has carefully selected a few other brands that also have bags of style.

"French nursery decor uk"In the UK it’s not always easy to find some of the most covetable French kids decor brands but with UK based Petit Home you have exactly that and all under one roof.  From bedding to wall art and lighting, you could easily kit out your entire nursery or kids room from Petit Home.  I love that Amelie has chosen products that are sometimes fun, sometimes quirky and sometimes beautiful, giving us a range of styles to choose from.  While Petit Home has some of my favourite kids decor brands on offer, today I’m really loving that whimsical baby rabbit lamp…  so crazy cute!  I’m so glad to have Petit Home on board and I hope you enjoy their offerings as much as I do.

"colourful kids rooms"Lately I’ve been obsessing over black and white interiors but every once in a while I see bold and bright kids rooms popping with colour and I change my mind.  Today is one of those times… when I saw these rooms I fell in love with colour all over again.  We all know that kids adore colour.  Have you ever seen a child colour in a picture in one or two or even just three colours?  Neither have I!  These rooms work especially well for me because they’ve all used white or very light backgrounds and then added the brightest accents in a range of colours.

"bold patterns prints for kids room"Lately I’ve been feeling the need to brighten up my wardrobe not just with colour but with bold prints and patterns.  I often wear solid blocks of colour but I don’t tend to wear many prints.  Now I’ve got the urge to go out and buy striking patterns and prints in bold and bright colours and mix and match them without any rules.  Whether I’ll be brave enough to do this is a completely different matter but when I saw this styling for kids spaces it reminded me that you can make contrasting patterns and colours work together.  These gorgeous spaces are created by interior stylist Linda Ahman.  You’ve got graphic patterns against floral ones, hot pinks with orange, stripes with polka dots and it all comes together so seamlessly.  Would you try something like this in your kids room or even in your wardrobe?  Seeing these images I’m now dreaming of having patterns and prints everywhere!

"black and white kids room ideas"I remember when I was around 13, there was a girl in my school who only ever wore black.  Occasionally she would wear little hints of white or grey but the dominating colour from head to toe was always black.  I seriously thought she was the coolest kid I’d ever seen!  I’ve always loved black and even several years on this obsession with black has never waned.  When I see a piece of clothing in a shop, it can come in every colour under the sun and I will always be drawn to the black one.  Over the years I’ve taught myself to have more colour in my wardrobe especially for Spring and Summer but in Winter it’s back to black!  Now this black obsession is creeping in to my decorating ideas and I’m thinking of re-doing my daughters room in black and white.  So I’ve been looking around for kids room decorations that are not only black and white but are also simple, unfussy and uncluttered in their design.  These were my top picks:

1.  Heart poster… 2. Polka dot wall stickers… 3. Sheep mobile… 4. Striped blanket… 5. Striped cloud cushion… 6. Tica chair… 7. Mickey Mouse pillow.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  See you next week…

"play tent for kids"I’m loving this dreamy new store from Spain called Bel & Soph.  It’s full of soft linen cushions, cosy quilts and cute decor items for babies and kids.  Created by 2 mums who wanted something unique and special for their kids, they recently launched their store and the result is just lovely.

"wooden toy storage boxes"

"linen cloud cushions"While I’ve seen many a cloud cushion, I love these for their simplicity, their colours and the rawness of the linen fabric.  I’m also loving the little wooden storage boxes in natural wood combined with pretty coloured backs.  Their designs are simple but there are lots of gorgeous little details like the pom pom ties on the play tent and the raw edges to the cushions that make them so lovely.  Much of their collection is in soft grey’s, dusty pinks and cool ivory’s giving it all a very chic look.

"painted headboard for kids bed"Everything on offer from Bel & Soph is understated and very classy.  Any kids room decorated with their goodies will be one magical space!
