When my mum was visiting over the Summer from India, she would often browse my blog and commented on the beautiful kids clothes you get these days.  She mentioned that when we were growing up there really wasn’t much choice but now there is not only such a lot more but also something for every budget and taste.  I couldn’t agree more – we are so spoiled for choice that sometimes it feels like there is almost too much.  But then a new range like Tortoise & the Hare comes out and I think, let these new kids creations never stop.  Let these talented makers keep on creating beautiful new lines of kids clothes.  After all in the adult fashion world there is incredible choice so why shouldn’t kids have the same?

While Tortoise & the Hare clothes are beautiful, the story behind the clothes is equally special.  All the baby and kids clothes are made on a family farm in Pennsylvania where the owner Rosina grew up and still lives.  The clothes are hand stitched by seamstresses who were taught to sew by their mothers.  Rosina is drawn to colours found in nature like the blue sky and nearly ripened wheat which is where the colour palette for her clothes comes from.  The whole range is natural and made in linens and chambray fabrics but also how incredibly cute is it?  That bunny cape and the bunny ears baby hat – too adorable!

"vintage linen girls clothes"

I know I talk a lot about the Summer but if you lived in London you would know why.  We get so little sunshine over the year that when it does come, it’s reason enough to celebrate!  With all this glorious weather we’re enjoying I remembered a brand of clothes that seems to capture the very essence of Summer.  Their clothes and pictures make me dream of long, sunny days spent playing outdoors, getting wet in water fountains, picking flowers, enjoying ice-creams – you know the kind of simple, timeless pleasures that only Summer allows.  Soor Ploom Clothier shines in it’s simplicity.   The clothes have a vintage touch which adds to their charm and are all made of my favourite Summer fabrics –  soft cottons and linens.  These are the kind of timeless Summer clothes that allow kids to be kids and I am truly in love!

Naked Lunge

April 30, 2014

"handmade linen dolls""hand made linen dolls""grey and white striped pillowcase""liberty print bedlinen"Adorable linen dolls, beautiful bed linen and stylish stationery is what it’s all about at Naked Lunge.  It’s all very understated and simple which is what I’m loving.  Naked Lunge is the creation of designer Roxanna who is also running a workshop in London this Summer where you can learn to make your own dolls.  Speaking of those dolls, aren’t they great?  I’m loving the simple drawing style which runs through the entire range of stuff as well as the colours Roxanna has used.

"bunny print baby blanket"

Naked Lunge has recently teamed up with Brave Ones Apparel to create the most adorable range of clothes – how cute are these trousers, mittens and tops?  I love the bunny print as well as the Indian boy and girl print.  Naked Lunge also offers jewellery, stationery and some tea towels all of which are pretty cool.  I love Roxanna’s style and think she is very much a designer to watch.

"handmade rag dolls"

I wanted to start by saying sorry to you, my readers, for my silence this past week.  I was away on holiday and spent the last week in Nepal.  While traveling around I didn’t have much internet access.   We had a wonderful holiday though and I really recommend a trip to Nepal.  I will post some holiday pics soon but today I wanted to share these beautiful hand made dolls with you.

"hand made rag dolls""hand made doll mobiles"

These dolls are hand made in Brooklyn, NY by talented mama Indira Villalobos.  This is her new collection for 2014 and I love the colours that she has chosen as well as the gorgeous metallic linen fabric.  Those pink overalls are just the sweetest!  In addition to the dolls, there are pretty mobiles and decorative star cushions.  I’ve known the designer Indira for a while and know that she puts lots of love and passion in to what she creates which is why each piece is made by hand and every little detail is paid attention to.  Indira created the brand Snuggly Ugly with her husband a couple of years ago and this collection is my favourite yet, especially those beautiful star and moon mobiles.

"French linen dresses for girls"

I wanted to start the week by sharing this effortlessly simple and stylish collection of linen dresses.  Linen is such a beautiful fabric both in look and feel and so perfect for Summer.  These dresses by Le Vestiaire de Jeane are easy to wear, loose fitting for comfort and great for dressing up or down.  The collection also includes similar dresses for women and I can’t help but think they would be so cool and comfy to wear during a Summer pregnancy and beyond.

"made by muku spring summer 2014""linen dresses for girls""girls summer linen tops"

Spring Summer 2014 from Made by Muku is here and it’s just beautiful.  Cosy linen clothes in simple shapes and muted tones that are so comfy and practical for kids too.  My favourite is that cross-backed play suit but really, I love all the pieces.  It’s impossible not to.

"linen bedding and cushions for kids"Just look at this stuff; so sophisticated and yet so simple.  This is a new brand from Vienna called Vividgrey started by Sabine, an interior architect, designer and also mama of one.  All the textiles and objects are designed for ‘a home shared between children and grown-ups’ and I can see this stuff working beautifully in any environment.  There are little unexpected surprises in many of the pieces like the cobweb linen curtain where the cobweb detail is only visible when the curtain is back lit.  Or the linen cushions which have a hidden print of a trail of ants or mystery keys which are only revealed when the overlap is opened. "vividgrey baby playbeads and mobiles"Besides the textiles, there are other interesting objects in the collection like that shiny mobile designed to resemble a branch of a tree and those beautiful wooden play beads to entertain even the smallest of babies.   ‘Everyday magic’ is how Sabine describes Vividgrey and I totally believe her.

"neutral striped bed linen for kids and adults"Combine solids and stripes in subtle tones and you’re on to a winner every time.  Thats what this new range of bed linen from Barcelona does so well.  Mikmax is all about natural, neutral fabrics for a timeless and ageless appeal.  There is a kids collection but for me, the entire range is perfect for any age.  With Winter coming up, I’m loving those chunky knit blankets and cushions… I can just picture myself cosying up on the sofa with my daughter Anya and spending an evening watching her current favourite film Jungle Book.

P.S. Have you seen what I’m giving away?  Some lovely French kids clothes and you choose what you like!
