"6 of the best cushions for kids"

I’m a huge fan of cushions for both kids and grown up spaces.  I love how easily cushions can transform any room.  And in a kids room they bring lots of colour and lots of fun as they often double up as playthings too.  Here are 6 of the best kids cushions that are around at the moment:

1.  hedgehog cushions in bright colours | 2.  checked rabbit cushion | 3.  dotty dinosaur cushion | 4.  sleepy goodnight cushion | 5.  bear cushion | 6.  grey cactus cushion.

"cloud pillows for kids"Whoever sleeps on these goodnight pillows is going to have the sweetest dreams, don’t you think?  The pillows look so peaceful with their soft colours and doze-y expressions.  I’m loving this (sleepy) sweetness from Colette Bream.

"polka dot kids bed linen"

There’s something about polka dots that grabs me each time.  Large polka dots, small polka dots, I love them all as long as the pattern is kept simple and isn’t overly colourful.  So when I saw the offerings by Hello Milky I was hooked.  Created by a mama from Melbourne, each and every piece in the collection is made entirely by her and her alone.  The designs are mainly teeny-tiny polka dots strewn over duvet covers, cushions and pillows although there are some with teeny-tiny stars too.  I’m loving the natural colour of the linen and the pairing with sometimes bright and sometimes dark polka dots or stars is just delightful.  It’s such a simple design but that’s exactly why Hello Milky’s creations are so appealing.  And seeing all that natural linen… I’ve remembered how much I love this fabric in it’s raw state (without dyes) and need to get some for my home urgently!

"alpaca wool soft toys"

"alpaca wool baby blanket"

"kids playhouse"

You may have seen Lucky Boy Sunday featured here in the past and today I couldn’t resist sharing their latest campaign.  It’s hard to put the charm of Lucky Boy Sunday in to words so I guess I could say that there’s a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ about their creations.  The goodies are wonderful but so is the way they put together each campaign with an almost magical and poetic quality to it.  The creators say they ‘adore the unsaid’, leaving it up to you dream and imagine what you will…

"clown soft toys and pillows"

The circus is in town!  This new collection of joyful circus toys and pillows is the creation of super talented mama, Anabel.  In the collection you’ll find a range of clowns, a circus tent, some circus animals and my favourite, the ringmaster pictured on the left.  All the toys can double up as pillows… I’m thinking super sweet sleeping companions for any little kid.  Made from baby alpaca wool, bamboo and cotton they are hand knitted in Bolivia so not only are the goodies very cute, they’re environmentally friendly too.  Anabel goes a step further by employing women artisans in Bolivia who wouldn’t otherwise have had the chance of earning.  These toys are toys with a conscience, making them even more desirable.  In addition to the new circus collection, Anabel makes lovely baby alpaca wool clothes and the most gorgeous crochet and knit necklaces for little girls.  Visit Fournier to see the entire collection.

"nursery art with elephants and bunnies"

"hand made soft toys and throw pillows"

On the weekend while browsing Buy Modern Baby, I came across Kate Durkin and I couldn’t wait to share her goodies with you.  Kate makes the loveliest nursery art and some adorable throw pillows in animal shapes.  The pillows are also perfect as hug-able soft toys for babies and young kids.  Her style is clean and simple which gives her goodies their huge appeal.  I love all the artwork… there’s a certain softness of style and a sophistication which makes them appealing for kids and adults too.   The pillows too would look equally at home on a living room sofa or in a kiddy space.  I’m extremely partial to style that has no age boundaries and that’s what Kate manages to do so well.  The soft toys cost from $28 and the prints from $18.  Kate Durkin is based in New York but she ships worldwide from her Etsy store.
