I know that black and white kids decor isn’t for everyone but I am a big fan. So if you are a fan like me then this new Dutch shop is for you. En Las Nubes does some of the cutest black and white posters, wall stickers and decorations for kiddies as well as some adorable tees. There are lots of stars, triangles, clouds and raindrops featured on a range of goodies, all in black and white but sometimes with a hint of pink or grey. I’m especially loving those sweet posters that have happy little thoughts printed on them.

The cutest wall stickers…
September 24, 2013
When I was growing up, the one thing that was strictly forbidden in our home was writing on the walls or sticking anything on them for fear of marking the walls. But I still couldn’t resist sticking one teeny-tiny sticker just on the side of my bed and I’m pleased to say (thankfully) my mother never discovered it. In those days, the stickers were very glue-y and stain-y as there was no such thing as wall stickers. But how I wish there were. If somebody had given me super cute wall stickers like these ones by Swantje & Freida, I would have been the happiest kid on the planet! I mean how sweet are these stickers? And of course with wall stickers like these, there are no marks on the walls so my mother would’ve been delighted too.
These stickers have been created by Swantje, a graphic designer from Cologne and the main character featured is Freida – the girl with the red cheeks. She is adorable as are the other characters and animals. This range has been created specially for Poisson Bulle which is where you’ll find them but Swantje also does some other delightful illustrations for kids which will bring a big smile to your face… promise!
Sweet hearts…

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of heart adorned stuff for kids. A lot of it isn’t for me but sometimes, when it’s kept simple, it can be super sweet like that black and white baby blanket. So here are my current favourite {sweet} heart picks:
1. Two hearts poster by Seventy tree, 2. Louis Louise heart print duvet cover from smallable, 3. Jess Brown Wovenplay doll from Miniluu, 4. Knitted heart baby blanket by Yarning made, 5. Oeuf NYC heart sweater, 6. Mini hearts wall stickers by Ferm Living.
Little Danish delights…
June 26, 2013
Lately I’ve become a bit obsessed with geometric shaped wall stickers that can be stuck on randomly in a room and these ones from Sirlig are my latest find. Sirlig is Danish for ‘delights’ and that’s exactly what this store is full of… little delights. From the adorable wall stickers to that sweet doll and those animal pencil cases, all their goodies are the kinds of things that will make you smile. And it’s not just for kids. There’s plenty on offer that will work just as well in an adult, child or family space like that colourful cloud print hung above the dining table. Of all the geometric wall stickers at Sirlig, I think those pale turquoise polka dot ones are probably my favourite but there’s plenty to choose from including the turquoise hearts, some triangles, diamonds and more.
Baby, it’s a small world…
June 25, 2013
One of my biggest personal ambitions is to see as much of the world as I can and to share this experience with my husband and daughter. I love discovering new cultures, cuisines and places that can seem so different yet familiar at the same time. It fascinates me that the world is getting smaller and nearly everywhere is so accessible these days. My husband and I have a list of places we ‘need’ to visit and are working our way through these whenever we can. Top of our list for a long while had been Argentina and Uruguay and we eventually got there this January. It was a thrill! New list topper is China and we hope to make it there sometime in the next year or two. We do spend far too much time dreaming about all the places we could see right away if we won the lottery… but then again, everyone’s got to have dreams! We would love our 4 year old daughter to grow up with a curiosity about our small world, about different yet similar cultures, about food and new experiences. To encourage her we bought her a globe for her room and play silly, made-up travel games centered around where she lives, where her extended family live and where she’s going on holiday. Now I’m considering re-doing her room and I’m thinking of complementing the globe with a map of the world on the wall. She can then pin pictures, souvenirs, postcards or whatever she likes and really make it her personal map. But I also think maps make lovely wall art and are as great as any other art for any room in the home. So I went on the hunt for some kids rooms with maps and the above are what I found. The choices are many ranging from vintage to modern and single countries to the entire world. They can be as colourful and artistic or as traditional and accurate as you like. I’m also loving the idea of having a globe light. Maps are great for encouraging a child to want to know more about our world or their country but they are fabulous wall candy too.

An old favourite with a new collection…
February 12, 2013
Recently I have come across so many blogs that showcase beautiful Scandinavian homes and each home is more striking then the next. Often the rooms are all white from floor to ceiling, complemented with black accents and gorgeous mid-century furniture. I am so smitten by this Scandi chic look that last night I told my husband it was time to re-decorate our living room and draw from this style but with our own personal touch. In my excitement I even showed him all the images I had been collecting. He agreed but then quickly burst my bubble by pointing out the elephant in the room – the carpet. To really achieve the look I’m after we need wooden floors but living in a period flat with a 4 year old, that just isn’t an option. The noise would drive the couple below us insane! While I know he’s right I can’t help but mourn the living room of my dreams. So for now I’ll have to make do by fueling my love for all things Scandinavian by sharing more Scandi decor with you and today I’ve turned to an old favourite with a wonderful new Spring Summer 2013 collection.
If you haven’t already guessed, this is the new collection by Ferm Living. Always chic, always minimal this new line is right up my street. I love the use of lots of black and white with pops of bold colour. That half moon wallpaper would fit like in a dream in my imaginary living room. As I’ve come to expect with Ferm living, most of their pieces aren’t age or gender specific like those bolsters that would be fun in any space. And that play tent, with it’s black and white stripes and hint of neon orange wouldn’t be an eyesore if your kids decided to camp out in the living room. There’s a lot more to this new Ferm Living collection including some cool wall stickers like the ones pictured below. Enjoy!

Back to this joyful nursery furniture which includes coloured cots, bright wardrobes and toddler beds, colourful storage boxes and more. The furniture designed by Carlos is fun and playful as well as being practical. Carlos told me he was one of 5 kids and so there was lots of play in his home. He and his 4 sisters would create games out of any objects they could get their hands on… ” My father was a topographer and with his telescopic tripod and a blanket we made a wonderful tepee”. It’s from such memories and happy times that Carlos gets his inspiration. His amazing sense of colour comes from a desire to be contemporary and current as Carlos explains “I pay attention to colour schemes in the fashion industry too”. Carlos’ formula of mixing vibrant colours with lots of fun makes for nursery furniture so contemporary, cool and happy. And that’s what BM2000 offer… happy, fun and stylish furniture and wall stickers for kids and babies. To check out their goodies head to their site: BM2000 where you can see a list of stockists too.

Beautiful: French books for children
August 16, 2011
Yesterday I had a massive dig around the world wide web. The mission was of course to find more gorgeous goodies to share with you. I’m happy to say: mission accomplished. One of my most favourite finds was Emilie Vast. A french artist/designer who mainly creates children’s books as well as jewellery and also transforms her illustrations in to beautiful stationery and wall art. Her work immediately grabbed my imagination and I don’t think it’s difficult to see why. It is truly beautiful and has a delicacy and sophistication which makes it childish but with bags of appeal for adults too.
Emile Vast’s books and illustrations use a lot of black, white and grey with splashes of bold colour. It all comes together to create visuals so eye-catching. Even though all her children’s books are in French I’m still seriously tempted. You don’t need words to appreciate art this stunning. At the moment I’ve found a small selection of her work for sale over at the very lovely Poisson Bulle (you’ll be hearing more about them another day). They’ve got specially commissioned wall declas and books by Emilie on offer. Prices range from €10 for a book and between €15 – €69 for the decals and shipping is €18 to the UK. Worldwide shipping is also on offer. If I find more stuff, I promise you’ll be the first to know.
