Hand made teddy bears

March 31, 2014

"handmade natural fibre teddy bears"

Who doesn’t love a cuddly teddy bear?  And these ones by Polka Dot Club are made with love and care by an artist who believes in heritage toys but with a modern update.  These bears are all handmade using only natural materials instead of the synthetic fibres that you mostly find these days.  Jennifer Murphy, the artist behind Polka Dot Club, learned to sew and make teddy bears from her mother.  And not so long ago she started this adorable club where you can find limited edition and one off bears like these as well as the cutest little rabbits.  Handmade, durable, and natural toys are becoming more and more rare so it’s always exciting to come across someone who is so passionate about toys that aren’t just for today but for generations to come.  The handmade teddy bears also come with the cutest wardrobe, don’t you think?

Happy mothers day

"happy mothers day from ebabee"

Do you take loads of pictures of your kids?  If you are anything like me, I often click away but when I recently looked back at my photos I realised there were hardly any of me with Anya.  My biggest regret is that I don’t have many with Anya as a newborn.  One of the reasons is that I am very camera shy but also I am the one taking the pictures.  So I’ve ended up with loads of pictures of Anya which is great but I’d love to have more of her with me and more with all three of us as a family.  Abigail Fahey, a photographer and mum of four offered to come over and photograph us for Mothers Day so I agreed.

"mother and child photography"

We decided to keep things natural and didn’t dress up for the shoot.  I’m not keen on those studio shoots where everyone is posed and every last detail planned.  Instead it was about capturing us in our everyday lives in our home, doing what we normally do.  So we cuddled, tickled, played on my bed and just enjoyed each other while Abigail shot us.

I love the way Abigail has captured us in our home, with us just being who we really are.  We are a very cuddly, huggy, affectionate family and I think Abigail has got that so well.  Through my blog I get to meet many talented and creative people like Abigail and I feel so lucky and grateful for this.  Abigail has an amazing eye and a unique style – love those reflections in the shots below.

Whenever I visit my mum in India, I always enjoy looking through our old family albums.  So despite my camera shyness, I’m so glad I did this because it’s not only a great Mothers Day memory but also something both Anya and I will look back on in years to come and I know we’ll be so happy to have some beautiful shots of us together.  A big thanks to Abigail whose beautiful family photography you can see more of on her website.

Wishing you an amazing Mothers Day full of love and I hope you capture those memories this weekend. x

P.S.  Abigail has also photographed herself with her four beautiful children and has set all you mothers out there a challenge for this Mothers Day.  Find out more on her blog.

"informal wedding dinner style"

We’ve got a family wedding to go to soon in Kathmandu, Nepal and we’re super excited.  I love weddings and it’s been a while since I’ve been to one.  We’re all booked and the only thing left to decide is what we’re all going to wear.  Indian/Nepalese weddings tend to go on for a week with function after function so it’s not just one outfit you need, but several.  Luckily this wedding is a bit shorter with only three events, two of which are formal so both Anya and I plan to go in Indian national dress for the formal celebrations – I’ll wear a sari, she’ll wear a kids lehenga.  We’ve already got the Indian outfits so all that’s left to plan is the look for the very informal pre-wedding dinner bearing in mind that it’s going to be hot too.

Probably the easiest thing would be to find myself a dress but I’m not much of a dress person.  I prefer trousers or skirts.  With that in mind, I’ve been thinking about looks for Anya and me.  These are the 3 favourite looks I’ve narrowed it down to for the informal pre-wedding dinner party.  Which look do you like best?

"wooden toy storage trolley""wooden toy storage""portable wooden toy storage"A long while ago I brought you these adorable space-saving desks perfect for adults or kids.  Those desks were by Torafu Architects, a Japanese design house, who have 2 new designs that I’m loving and think you will too.  The first is this colourful toy storage trolley and the second is that cute folding table.  Both are practical, space-saving and beautiful.

Torafu Architects are great at transforming everyday furniture in to something special.  I am very much a believer that  everyday stuff should also look beautiful because it is so much a part of your daily life.

Happy confetti

March 25, 2014

"confetti clothes, walls and more"

Confetti is one of those things that makes you feel cheerful the second you see it.  Whether it’s on the walls, on clothes or on the table, confetti just seems to have that ‘happy’ effect.  I love confetti and not just for a party so I went looking around for some happy confetti to get inspired and here’s what I found:

1.  DIY giant confetti wall decoration…  2.  confetti onesie…  3.  confetti skirt…  4.  DIY confetti frames…  5.  DIY confetti number cake toppers…  6.  multi-coloured confetti wall stickers.

"French linen dresses for girls"

I wanted to start the week by sharing this effortlessly simple and stylish collection of linen dresses.  Linen is such a beautiful fabric both in look and feel and so perfect for Summer.  These dresses by Le Vestiaire de Jeane are easy to wear, loose fitting for comfort and great for dressing up or down.  The collection also includes similar dresses for women and I can’t help but think they would be so cool and comfy to wear during a Summer pregnancy and beyond.

Happy Spring!

"kids making friends""kids playing outdoors""mama and baby outdoors ebabee""kids enjoying wildlife ebabee"

Today I’ve been interviewed by the lovely Ana of pink nounou.  I talk to her about playing with Anya and all that this involves.  In my interview I chat about how, more than anything else, Anya loves to play outdoors and just spend time outside.  Now that Spring is finally here (yay!) I look forward to spending a lot more time outside as a family.  Not just in our local parks but visiting some of London’s fabulous outdoor spaces for a picnic (Holland Park is my favourite) or outdoor markets or the zoo.  Anywhere that offers some family fun and is outside.   I leave you with a few pictures of some memorable moments from our Spring last year.

Have a wonderful weekend and happy Spring! x

"blush pink baby clothes shoes"

The word ‘blush’ is such a pretty way to describe this beautiful pale peachy-pink colour which I’m loving for Spring.  So soft and feminine, this is a colour I want to see more of in my home and wardrobe.  So I went looking for blush things for mamas and kids and here are my favourtie finds:

 1.  lunch bag style clutch…  2.  floral printed kids dress…  3.  ballet bunny soft toy…  4.  face cleanse powder…  5.  stoneware trinket box…  6.  dotty oxford shoes.

"books for 5 year olds"

If I could, I would buy nearly every kids book that is published.  But since that isn’t possible, I have to pick and choose the ones that I think will be the most engaging, educational, funny, entertaining or just a sweet story.  Right now these 7 books are in my Amazon wish list so I thought I would share them here.  I’m very tempted by the exclamation book because it sounds like a fun and engaging way to teach Anya about punctuation especially since she is learning it at school too.  Have you bought any of these books?  I would love to hear what you thought of them?  These are the books I’m currently wishing for:

1.  Infographics: Human Body (I See What You Mean) by Peter Grundy
2. Exclamation Mark by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
3.  Mr Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown
4. The Hole by Oyvind Torseter
5. Gobble You Up by Gita Wolf
6. The Fir Tree by Sanna Annuka
7. My Father’s Arms Are a Boat by Stein Erik Lunde

"DIY elephant gift tags"

Recently Anya’s had loads of birthday party invites; there has practically been a party every weekend for a few weeks now.  I’m a big fan of giving books to kids when I don’t know them well enough to know their interests so that has been my gift of choice.  But I’m always looking for different ways to wrap these gifts so when I came across these plywood elephants I thought they would make really cute gift tags.
