Alices adventures in wonderland

Recently, I was so excited to discover this gem of a book.  While Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a book we’re all very familiar with, it was finding this (fairly) rare edition that got me so excited.  One look at this book and I knew it had to be added to our shelves.

The book is illustrated by Tove Jansson – a Finnish artist – who is best known for her Moomin books for children. In this book, the fantastical tale of Alice’s adventures comes to life in a way I haven’t seen before. The surreal and captivating story is made even more enchanting with Jansson’s drawings.  There’s a mix of colour and black and white illustrations and each one has so much to offer in bringing the story to life and almost out of the book, if that makes sense.

And of course the story itself needs no introduction and is still one of the best ever written.  I mean which other book even comes close to feeding a child’s imagination in such a captivating way? So many of the quotes and thoughts expressed in the book lead Anya to become extremely curious and ask so many questions.  Things like the words below prompt all sorts of chat about what is and isn’t impossible and how if you believe strongly enough, nothing is impossible:

Whether you’re 6 or 60, boy or girl, it’s hard not to fall in love with this book.

Update Aug 2022 – This version of the book has become very rare unfortunately.  However you can still find copies on ebay.

We absolutely adore this edition of the book because of the incredible story and the illustrations that come together for a magical trip in to a world where truly nothing is impossible.

P.S. If you’d like more recommendations, here is a list of kids books that are quite unique and special.
