"takae mizutani castle egg and soldiers"

Egg cups come in every shape and colour possible, but how often do you get something to house the soldiers in?  Takae Mizutani, the designer of these, found you never did and she didn’t like the idea of the soldiers being neglected.  After all what is an egg without the soldiers (kind’a like a 2yr old without tantrums… where’s the fun in that?).  So she designed this fabby set where the soldiers arrive on horseback to accompany the egg perched atop a castle.  I’m liking her thinking.  The  Takae Mizutani egg cup and soldiers set is available in white or a natural sandy coloured finish and the set costs £19.50 plus £2.99 delivery.

"brio grow highchair"

I’m forever tracking down cool design to bring you.  I search far, wide and deep… from the USA to Japan and back.  But today my inspiration was in front of me: the brio grow highchair.  It’s cool, contemporary looks and sleek modern design got me badly hooked when I was highchair hunting some 2 years ago.  I had to have it. Even a whole 2 years later, I haven’t yet experienced highchair envy (yay!).  And it’s not just a pretty face.  The brio highchair is comfortable, safe, easy to assemble and easy to clean.  Add this to it’s high style and you’ve got another nursery great* from the fantabulous Brio.  It comes in black, white and red and goes from 6 months to 7 years.  When the bambino comes of age, all you do is remove the safety rail and voila!  The brio grow highchair isn’t the cheapest but it is lovely!

*The other Brio nursery great I speak of is none other than the Brio Sleep cotbed. Click to check it out.

If stylish highchairs are your thing too then have a look at the Alfons highchair by Sirch. It’s another beauty!

"cocoboheme baby bibs"

It’s been a while since I’ve brought you baby bibs but I haven’t found any worth mentioning.  That is, until today when I spotted these animal bibs by Cocoboheme. They’re so darn chic and stylish, I just had to tell you about them.  Made from potato starch, these bibs are biodegradable, re-usable, water proof and easy to clean.  Big on design yet kind to the planet – we like that around here.  The French team describe their creations as a mixture of craftiness, whimsy, poetry and aesthetics with a practical side and I couldn’t agree more.  The Cocoboheme animal bibs cost £10.80 each plus £3.50 delivery.  You’ve got a red lobster, orange hen, green frog and a pink pig to choose from… and if choosing one’s a problem, get two or three or all!

"smiling planet melamine plates"

Lovely, happy, plates from Smiling Planet.  Their mission: to make you smile and I’m definitely smiling wide.  On offer are kiddy plates and bowls with whimsical drawings that are oh so light-hearted and fun.  And they’re all earth-friendly too, made with recycled and recyclable plastic, free of all nasties like BPA, Lead, Phthalates and toxic inks.  There’s many to choose from including a Ballerina Mouse plate and a Blue Whale plate, both of which are just fab.  In the bowls section, I’m wantingly eyeing the music Lion one which immediately brought on a big smile.  The Smiling Planet plastic kids plates cost £12.95 while the bolws cost £7.95 and delivery is £3.95.  So, so tempting!

"DwellStudio bibs to go"

By now you’ve probably sussed that I’m more than a bit keen on Dwell Studio, the American lot who create uber modern style for babies and kids.  So naturally I was just as keen when I chanced upon these bibs to go.  They come as a tear off pad of 20 bibs, fab for when you’re out or on your travels.  Complete with a cool signature Dwell graphic on them, so no need to compromise on style when you’re on the road.  They cost £5.30 plus £2.75 delivery and are suitable from newborn till 3 years.   They’d be super handy if you’re planning on traipsing around the country anytime soon (think no washing).

"noo noo baby bibs"

Childish, innocent and stylish.  They’re the words that immediately sprang to mind when I saw these bibs.  I’m hearting the pureness of the designs.  Simple white background with an oh so sweet, child-like drawing.  These baby bibs by NooNoo are handmade with organic cotton and come in a sheep or ladybird design.  They cost £10 for a set of 3 plus £3.50 delivery.  Suitable from birth to about 6 months, this range is called ‘Silly Billy’… love it!

"no tray highchair"

Highchairs.  There seems to be an abundance of the platicky type on offer and that’s just not for me.  But this weekend I came across the no-tray highchair…  think Pizza Express, and you’ll know the chair I mean.  No-tray means the chair gets right up to the table and voila, you’re baby’s munching away with you.  It’s available in light and dark wood, but it’s the blue one that’s got me all excited!  The no tray highchair’s available from Poppy Baby for £75 with free delivery.  And there’s not a frilly, plasticky bit in sight.

Meet Mr and Mrs Mao

October 15, 2010

"cutr toddler food bowl"Quirky, crazy, over the top design but so much fun!  Mr & Mrs Mao are little rice bowls from the near-bizarre world of Octopus.  Ebabee no.1’s got a Mrs Mao and adores the hat-lid.  The joyful anticipation on her face, not knowing whats in there, often turns to disgust when stems of steamed broccoli appear.  Randomly, we picked ours up in India of all places.  Mr & Mrs Mao kiddy bowls cost £8.50 plus £4.95 delivery.  The sites  slow to load but crammed full of stuff for anyone who fancies a bit of quirk!

P.S. Checkout Mrs Mao’s electric blue eyeshadow!

My mustachioed viking

September 23, 2010

"Viking plates for children"

Vikings.  Not something I think about but today I’m going a bit viking ga-ga.  I’ve spotted these stylish melamine dinner plates that are the creation of Sandra Monat, a German lady big on contemporary style with a historical twist.  I’m loving the illustrations of the vikings, they’re so cool, so contemporary, so cheerful.  I’m especially keen on the black mustachioed one sheltering himself from the rain… how amazing is he?

The square plate is smaller costing £11.50 while the larger round ones (including my mustachioed friend!) cost £13.50 with delivery from £3.50.  Will a dash of viking adventure mean more greens are chomped?  No but I’m still vanting!

Rice is nice

September 20, 2010

I’m seeing red, blue, green, orange, purple… it’s a colour-tastic range of melamine cups by Rice.  The Danish Rice have created a range of funky, bright and bold cups perfect for the move from sipper to cup.  Choose a print or solid colour but with such a great, almost dizzying choice, there’s definitely one for everyone.
