Been on the hunt for a newbee gift as a friend’s about to deliver. So off I went surfing and clicking and voila! I stumbled across Wee Gallery and fell in love. Their black & white animal cards are quite the eye-candy for newbees. They’re printed from hand-painted originals, come as a set of 6 cards and you can choose from sea, jungle, farm, garden animals and more. Each set costs a tenner plus £4.50 delivery. There’s also an original collection which is a combo of different animals. They come in a nice presentation box and the cards have rounded corners so they’re perfect for baby.

Wee.Go

My hearts beating super fast, my pulse racing. Ooh the excitement of finding something that is super functional, practical, green and stylish. Wee.Go bottles. How cool do they look? Made of glass, which is unusual for a baby bottle but has clear advantages – no nasty chemicals can leak in to the milk, it doesn’t scratch like plastic bottles and it’s recyclable. The silicone outers come in the most delicious colours and prevent the bottle from breaking. Even the glass used is purer, higher quality and stronger than normal glass and can handle freezing and boiling. There’s loads of info on Life Factory’s site so you can have a look for yourself.
The bottles come in 2 sizes, have 4 different teat flows, the teats are medical grade and the caps can even be used as a cup. The bottles, teats and all accessories are free of nasties like BPA, phthalates, polycarbonates, last for years and are dishwasher safe. The silicone outers make for easy gripping with little hands. The large bottles cost £11.50, the small cost £8 plus around £3 for delivery from Hamillbaby. You don’t have to use Wee.Go teats – most standard teats will fit on their bottles.
These bottles have the looks, the eco creds but most importantly are free of nasties and conform to various US and European standards making them safe. Do the reading before you buy and let me know your thoughts.

Made for hugs

That’s what these dolls are made for, so say Sophie & Lili, their creators. I’m not the worlds biggest doll fan but when I saw these I instantly became one. They’re super cute, handmade, one of a kind dolls from America. They come in blonde, brunette or red-head and I’m so loving the back of each doll which is covered in a different funky fabric to complement the dolls dress. You can even have your name sewn on to the back, just let them know the name when you order.
These dollies are available from the Sophie & Lili website and cost $25 each plus $5 for shipping across the pond. They’re perfect as cuddly, huggable toys for toddlers and would make an oh so sweet and girly gift. They’re also available as minis and I’m thinking perfect pram buddy for a newbee.
Wee See
August 31, 2010
Being a fan of graphic art I got a bit over-excited when I came across Wee See. They make DVD’s crammed with bold, graphic black and white images for babies. The moving graphics accompanied by original playful music make for mesmerising viewing. Their site allows you a peek at their DVD’s and it’s a pretty generous peek too. The DVD’s cost $22 plus $10 for shipping to the UK. Hearing the music, even the daddy tore himself away from the Grand Prix to come and have a look. I’m thinking perfect gift for a newbie or even for your own. Put on the DVD, let your baby get a dose of some pretty cool visuals while you get on with the never ending chores.
Koo-di B.Box Nappy Wallet
August 25, 2010
Wondering what it is? I was too. It’s a nappy box or nappy wallet (call it what you will) for when you’re out and about. It comes with a change mat, room to store nappies and disposable bags and has super easy access to wipes. The wipes can be got to with the box closed or open making it pretty handy when you’re trying to juggle a baby and everything else at once. It comes in a range of funky colours, costs £14.99 with free delivery and will fit in most handbags. Free of nasties like BPA, Phthalates and PVC, it’s no wonder then that Koo-di B.Box has won many awards too.
Gifts for newborns,
July 10, 2010
Babies, babies and bumps everywhere I look. Is it just me or are we having a baby boom? My friends certainly are baby booming so I’m constantly looking for unusual ‘newbee’ gifts that aren’t going to break the bank but still have the wow factor.
These are a few of my favourites for under £20:
I recently gifted these to a new mum and it was love at first sight. These little cashmere booties come in a range of oh so lovely colours making it hard to choose just one. But at just £9.50 a pair you don’t have to. Go to custard-online.co.uk and get yourself a pair or two!
Anne-Clare Petit, the super duper dutch designer creates bright and beautiful crochet toys. There are loads to choose from but I love these old fashioned looking rattles. They’re available in a few different colours and sell online for around £10 at amazon.
I bumped into a friend with a newbie and bent down to admire the little bundle when I spotted this pram chain. No prizes for guessing what I ended up admiring! Available in many different shapes and colours, they’re great ‘on board entertainment’. They cost between £14 – £17 and amazon sells them.
Sweet, innocent, pure. Just like a newborn baby, these are the words I think of when I look at these dummy holders. My personal favourite is the bird but there are 3 others including this star, to choose from. They’re available from the online spanish store tipitipi.com for 15 euros and come with free delivery.
Mobiles are meant for babies or so I thought until I wanted one. I felt better when I realised that Flensted mobiles were for all ages and I can see why. It’s a great gift for a ‘newbee’ and something that can then become part of the room decor for the toddler. This ones called ‘elephant party’ but there are many more. They’re available at amazon or you can try driftliving.co.uk who sell a few different ones. They cost between £10 and £20.
As you get to know us better, you might accuse us of being partial to elephants. You’d be absolutely right! Love them. But that’s not the only reason this elephant’s featured here… it’s a soft toy and a rattle in one, it look so happy and it’s perfect for ‘newbee’ boy or girl. It comes from the online store ellaandotto.com for a tenner.
