"cute baby cot bed sets"In January I visited Playtime Paris, a trade show bringing together some of the best kids brands from across Europe and USA.  One of the brands that seriously grabbed my attention was Smiling Planet.  I’ve known about them for a while and I’ve even featured their kids dinner plates but it was the new Smiling Planet kids bedding collection that had me swooning.  It’s about to launch in a few weeks so I couldn’t wait any longer to share it.

"elephant crib set"I’m loving the softness and subtlety of their designs.  The teeny tiny prints of elephants, alligators and stars against a crisp white background just works so well and looks so adorable. I’m also loving the cool buddha adorned bedding set too.  There is a feeling of pureness and innocence that shines through this bedding making it so perfect for a baby.  These crib sets and kids duvets will be available in about a months time from Smiling Planet’s online store.

"european nursery bedding sets"

Hand made in Italy, this kids bedding by Numero 74 is just exquisite.  In the collection there are blankets, quilts and duvet sets for babies and children.   With a strong vintage vibe, the bedding is made in limited editions so you know you’re getting something unique.  But Numero 74 is about more than bedding as they also sell very desirable vintage toys and furniture which I have featured before.

"Italian kids bedding sets"

There is an understated elegance to all the bedding that comes in a range of colours from brights to muted tones.  The fabrics have pretty floral prints or polka dots but there’s also lots in plain colours too.  Started by 2 friends who couldn’t find what they wanted to decorate their kids room, they decided to make or source their own and Numero 74 was born.  I’ve completely fallen for their entire collection especially those quilts pictured at the top.  Visit Numero 74 or for a different range try smallable.com

"beautiful kids bedding"

Last year I featured some very cool soft toys by Colette Bream.  Today I’m revisiting her shop as I’ve been wanting to share her kids bed linen which is just lovely.  I’m not easy to please when it comes to kids bedding as I find a lot of it just too cutesy and fussy for my taste but not this stuff.  This bedding is simple, stylish and so beautiful.  There are bed sets in solid colours as well as printed ones and all have a lovely ribbon detail in a contrasting colour.

"stylish kids bedding"

Aren’t they just lovely?  I can’t even begin to choose a favourite, I think they’re all so elegant and stunning.  The printed ones have the tiniest little prints of flowers or stars which are both pictured here but there is also a sheep one and one adorned with teeny-tiny houses.  All the bed sets are made of the softest cotton and many of them are organic too.  Visit Colette Breams shop to see more of these and you’ll also find some throw pillows and lots of other very desirable goodies.

Chevrons seem to be all over at the moment and I’m loving it.  Simple graphic patterns like stripes and chevrons work so well across nearly anything and best of all they look so stylish in an understated way… the best way according to me.  I’ve picked out some sunny yellow and black chevron adorned goodies for both mama’s and babies:

"yellow and black chevron dress, art, mobile"

1. Love this gorgeous black and white chevron print maxi dress by the ever stylish Anthropologie and you could even wear it when pregnant.  2.  A sweet airplane baby mobile in yellow and teal by Cactus & Olive.  3.  Simple and stylish bird prints for a nursery or an adult space by Tessyla.

"chevron baby blanket, dress, plush"

4.  A super modern and super sophisticated black and white baby blanket by Handmade by Paisley.  5.  A yellow and white pinafore style dress that is perfect for spring by Sewn Natural.  6.  A very cute chevron print elephant soft toy with big flappy ears by Lil Kingdom.

"mint green toys, clothes and accessories for kids"Spring is here and I can’t see beyond mint green at the moment.  It’s in the shops, it’s in the magazines and it’s on my mind.  It’s such a fresh and vibrant colour and I’m absolutely going crazy for it.  So I went on the hunt for some mint green lovelies for the kids and here’s what I found:

1.  An old wardrobe given a new lease of life by painting it mint green.  Perfect for any kids room, I found this over at style-files.

2.  A cute little summer dress with a high seas print by Winter Water Factory.

3.  I love the idea of having a single wooden letter on display in a nursery and I love this lower case ‘a’ by Old New Again.

4.  Gorgeous little baby ballet shoes by Baby Bloch. You can get these at Bohemia Design.

5.  Beautiful mint green and gold wallpaper adorned with colourful humming birds, perfect for kids or adults too.  It’s called Grove Garden Wallpaper and it’s from Fabrics & Papers.

6.  A sweet little elephant bowl made of stoneware clay and its from A. Speer Ceramic Studio.

7.  I just want to eat these mint green cake pops now! The photo is from Fern Lee photography where you’ll also find instructions on how to make these delicious looking treats.

8.  An adorable little hand made bunny rabbit wearing mint green and polka dots by Timo Handmade.

9.  Last is this lovely, cosy looking quilt with a turtle print on one side and stripes on the other.  This one is by Moo Chic Baby.

"vintage toys and chairs for kids"

I love a good vintage shop for kids and when I discovered the French Numero 74 I was smitten.  They have some fabulous vintage toys like typewriters, cars and weighing scales, they also have some cool vintage chairs and desks for kids.  Add to this their handmade bedding and cushions and the store is definitely one to check out.  Their selection isn’t huge but I like that because they’re not trying to sell anything and everything vintage, just carefully chosen pieces all of which are desirable.  I’m loving the red retro rocking chair and the gold typewriter and I also love their crochet blankets and kids bed sets.  All the pieces are sourced from across Europe and USA and are from around the 1900’s to 1970’s and most are kept in their original condition to maintain their authenticity.  To see the entire collection visit Numero 74 and enjoy their lovely finds.

Here’a another of my favourite French vintage boutiques for kids

"crochet toys"

"crochet lion toy"

"crochet toys for babies"

"crochet baby blanket and rattle"

"crochet elephant toys"

When I saw these crochet toys, I was besotted.  Admittedly I’m a bit of a crochet junkie but these toys and crochet blankets are possibly the most beautiful ones I’ve ever come across.  They’re made in sunny Argentina by a mama who clearly has lots and lots of talent, imagination and creativity.  I’m loving the lion rattle with his gorgeous little crochet bed and blanket.  The elephant toy is lovely too as are the blankets.  In fact it’s all quite stunning!  I’m also loving the colours… mostly soft tones but sometimes complimented with a hint of colour.  I could go on and on but I’ll leave you to discover the rest at Miga de Pan.  There doesn’t seem to be a shop yet but you can email the mama in question if you’d like to buy.  I’m so, so tempted!

P.S. Have you seen these crochet fish bones?

"cool baby blankets"

Cutesy, frilly baby stuff just doesn’t cut it for me so when I read words like ‘adult-friendly baby items’ my interest is immediately peaked.   That’s what I read about Superfly Lullabies and I had to check out their stuff.  I found some very cool baby blankets, pillows and bibs.  All the goodies are made from bold and bright fabrics sourced from hot design hubs like Japan, Scandinavia and USA and are then handcrafted in to funky and fun blankets, bibs and more.  I’m loving the modern Matryoshka blanket which also doubles up as a baby playmat as do all the blankets.  The bold red and white polka dotted print is another of my favourites.  Superfly Lullabies was started by Julie, a mama who believes baby stuff should be refined and stylish, not fussy and frilly… just my kind of mama.  To check out her collection visit Superfly Lullabies where you’ll find her shop too.

"april showers by polder"

April Showers is a fabulous French brand offering bed linen, clothes, shoes and accessories for the kiddies.  I’ve known about them for ages but just realised I hadn’t shared and they’re definitely not one to miss out!  Created by 2 sisters from the Netherlands, Aprils Showers is the mini version of their adult brand Polder.  The styles on offer are contemporary with a touch of vintage and lots of charm.  On offer are gorgeous accessories including leather bags, fun necklaces, cool shoes, simple but stylish clothes and more.  There’s definitely more for the girls but there are some trendy boots and gloves for the boys too.  You can check out check out April Showers’ global stockists on their site or you can find a selection of their goodies which are currently on sale at Little Fashion Gallery

"rickshaw design indian fabrics"I’ve long been a fan of Rikshaw Design.  When I re-visited them the other day I found that they now sell their gorgeous Indian fabric by the yard.  From these lovely cotton fabrics they make crib bedding sets and quilts, little kurtas for babies and toddlers and bibs and burp sets.  If sewing isn’t your thing then you could always create a beautiful wall hanging for your nursery.   I love these Indian fabrics and I’ve indulged in a gorgeous elephant quilt for my daughter.  I bought mine in India as I often go there but you can save yourself a trip.  Made in Rajasthan and called block print fabric,  they have a lightness and softness to them that make them perfect for babies and nurseries.  Visit Rikshaw Design where the fabrics cost $44 a yard.  They do ship to Europe but shipping is very steep.  Shipping within the US is free.
