"mouse mobile for baby"

How cute are these mice mobiles and nursery decorations?  I’m not a fan of real mice (eeek!) but these ones would be more than welcome to share my home.  Hand made in France by Rose Minuscule, these mice are full of little details and intricacies to capture your child’s imagination.  Just look at their clothes and accessories… I’m loving the polka dotted trousers on the mouse who’s reading and don’t miss his oh so trendy cap too.  These mice nursery decorations will make whimsical mobiles for babies or unique wall decor for older kids.  You’ll find these curious cuties over at Design from Paris where they cost between €59.90 and €70.  You can also go direct to Rose Minuscule but you’ll need to brush up on your French first!

11 Polka dotted lovelies

"polka dots for kids"

I love polka dots.  It’s such a simple design that works so well on many things, especially things for kids.  I’ve picked out some polka dotted lovelies for you and your bambinos:

1.  These polka dot ballet shoes were the inspiration behind this post.  When I saw them, it was instant lust. How adorable are they?! I love the red and white with the black trim and bow.  So stunning.  They’re made by Sayang Design, a Japanese store with the most delicious shoes for kids.*

2.  This bambi-esque tee is made special with the addition of the navy blue polka dots.  So sweet.  This too is from a Japanese store and this store is called Enjoy 2u 2u 4u.*

3.  A baby shower invite with chicks and polka dots.  I’m liking the blue-brown colour combo and the simple design.  Love the little chicks too.  This polka dots baby shower invite comes from an Etsy store called Paper by Jill M.

4.  A little mustard coloured polka dot pencil case by Lale, one of my favourite French brands.  Lale also make very chic retro inspired suitcases for kids and mama’s and lovely girly hair clips too.  This polka dots pencil case is from smallable.com where you’ll find lots of Lale’s other goodies too.

5. More gorgeous shoes by Sayang Design.  These ones are perfect for boy or girl, don’t you think?

6.  Vintage inspired cushions by a cool French store called Les Choses Bizarres.  The store name means ‘weird things’ but the goodies on offer are definitely more wonderful then weird!  Visit Les Choses Bizarres where you’ll find these polka dot cushions for kids as well as some vintage looking bibs, pencil cases and more.

7. A navy and white polka dot cardigan for the girlies. I love the hint of red thrown in.  This is yet another Japanese find made by Cri de Joie and comes from a store called Esserini.*

8. I couldn’t resist this polka dot felt garland.  The vibrant colours and the simple circle shapes are just so attractive.  I found this over on a blog called Living with Punks where there’s a tutorial so you can make your own.

9.  Wow! Loving this navy polka dots satchel so much. So chic, so stylish.  It could be used as a school bag but this one’s really for all you mama’s.  Made by Zatchels you can get it at Liberty’s or try Zatchels own site where they have many colours on offer including a bold and beautiful red one.  Seriously tempting!

10. A very quirky and cool cloth doll wearing a bright orange polka dot dress.  This doll is hand made in Israel and comes from Timor’s etsy store.  All her cloth dolls are handmade and are one of a kind so once they’re gone, they’re gone!

11. Last is another pair of shoes from Sayang Design for the boys. Love the teal colour. I think you’ve probably guessed by now that I’m crazy about Sayang Design’s shoes for the bambinos!

"Sisters Guild Vintage inspired toys and decor"

Today I wanted to share this beautiful, charming store called Sisters Guild with you.  Sisters Guild is the vision of 2 sisters who really embrace beauty and creativity in everything they do.   They offer kids clothes, toys, decor, party stuff and even stuff for mama’s.  Many of their goodies are vintage inspired; some that will feel familiar from your own childhood, others that will be a new take on an old favourite and yet others that will be completely new ideas.

All the pieces are hand picked by the 2 sisters and are chosen for their appealing looks, their design and their ability to inspire.  You’ll find beautifully made toys that you’ll want to keep forever, timeless clothes that can be handed down from one child to another, pretty little things for yourself or for a good friend and covetable pieces to brighten up your home.  This store is special so do check out Sisters Guild and while you’re there don’t miss their blog… it’s seriously good.

"Paper bird mobile for baby"

I am crazy about Japanese design because when it’s good, it’s amazing.  And this paper bird mobile is a stunning example.  For all it’s white simplicity, it radiates dizzying levels of beauty and calmness.  Of course you could add your own little touch by colouring it in but I think I like it just as it is.  Designed by Yoko Noguchi, the birds can be hung up individually or you can hang all 3 together.  I can’t think of a sweeter mobile for a newborn baby.  This paper bird mobile comes from a store called Upon a Fold and costs AUD 26.95 with international shipping from AUD 6.20.  Just so you know, once you visit Upon a Fold, you may not be able to leave.  They sell the cutest, most delicious little paper goodies that are truly irresistible.

If you like your paper mobiles as much as I do, have a look at this swan bird mobile.  It’s hard to believe you can make something so majestic from paper.  Or if you want a decorate it yourself project for your toddler, check out this cute cardboard bird mobile.  It’s even got clouds to keep the birds company!

"small nursery decorations by Scalae"

I recently discovered Scalae who make a small collection of decorations and accessories for the kiddies.  Little dolls, small objects, little decorative branches and hanging houses are amongst their goodies.  Of all the pretty little things on offer I have my heart set on the hand made dolls.  They’re been created using beautiful fabrics in bold and bright colours like fuchsia and turquoise.  I’m loving these decorations to add a little ‘je ne sais quoi’ to a nursery space.  Place them on a shelf or dangle above your baby’s cot or hang them from a door handle.  The dolls come as a set of 3 in their own little bag and cost €24 from Cosy Kid Home.  You might need a little help from google translate unless of course you are fluent in French.

If you like this, have a look at these charming baby nursery garlands made of clouds, moons and stars.

"Felt garlands for nursery"

Last week I mentioned that I had been finding the most beautiful decorative garlands for nurseries, so here’s another of my finds.  Simple felt balls in gorgeous colours to hang in a nursery or toddler room or even your very own boudoir.   These will instantly add a touch of elegance and beauty to any space.  The felt garlands are from a new store called Paul et Paula, started by Peggy who also has a lovely blog brimming with objects of desire for kids.  Her store is filled with pretty things like whimsical mobiles, flower hair clips and cute cushions.  All kinds of little things that bring a smile to your face, that just brighten up a room or that take a space from plain to special.  Back to these felt garland decorations though, I can imagine a load of them hanging against a bright white wall… so pretty!  They cost €8 or €15 depending on size and Paul et Paula ships worldwide.

"wooden animal toys"

There’s something so appealing about natural wooden toys.  It’s their simplicity and smoothness that attracts me each and every time.  I’ve rounded up 7 wooden animal toys that I love.  They can also double up as lovely little decorations in a nursery or play space.

1.  The Cheekeyes* make fabby wooden animal playsets with just the slightest hint of colour.  They’ve got different playsets on offer including a safari one, a rainforest one and this garden creatures one.  Ollie & Forbes have a good selection on offer.  Each set has some animals and some extras like trees and mountains and they cost £24 per set.

2. Baileys Home and Garden is a store packed with beautiful objects which include wooden animal toys.  This gorgeous chubby elephant is one of their offerings and costs £18.

3.  This little wooden monkey can be a playmate or just left on a shelf to be admired.  I’m loving his dangly legs and arms.  The wooden monkey comes from Not on the High Street and costs £10.50.

4.  A natural wood teething ring in the shape of a hippo.  So simple, so sweet!  Easy to grasp and chew on as much as your bambino likes.  This hippo teething toy comes from Little Sapling Toys on Etsy and costs $12 with international shipping available.

5.  These beautiful beaky birds come in 3 sizes – small to represent children, medium to represent parents and chubby to represent grandparents (poor grandparents!).  They’ve got removable heads so your kiddos can mix and match the heads with the different sized bodies.  They cost between $52 and $79 depending on the size and come from the lovely American store Modernchild who ship internationally.

6.  Soopsori hand make natural wood toys with good looks and they’re fun too.  This cute elephant cart with dominos is a perfect example of their lovely wares.  To get this wooden elephant head to Red Lilly where it costs £21.95.

7.  This lovely little whale by Areaware isn’t just eye-candy.  It slides open to reveal a hidden compartment where your bambino can hide his precious treasures or you can.  There’s a range of animal boxes available but the whale is my favourite.  I first discovered it at Oeuf NYC but they only ship in the US.  For UK readers, you can get the whale at SCP where it costs just under £31.

"Pigmee soft toys"

"pigmee cotton garlands"

"pigmee textile decorations for children"

Today’s find is one that has my heart fluttering like a butterfly.  Yet again it’s French but French design seems to have that effect on me.  Pigmee is what I am seriously in love with.  They create these soft toys which are neither an animal nor a character; they are whatever your child wants them to be.  They also make the most beautiful white cotton garlands and stunning light pendants wrapped in lace.  Their offerings are so poetic, so beautiful, so magical.  Imagine a room with the lace adorned pendant, I can just picture the soft light dancing around the walls.  Pigmee’s creations aren’t just for kids, they’re designed with a sensibility that appeals to all.  My favourite kind of creations.

Pigmee’s soft toys, garlands and pendants are all handmade.  Simplicity combined with the most stunning aesthetics are at the heart of their creations.  The soft toys come in white but also in beautiful limited edition prints.  To indulge in more pictures and to read about what inspires Pigmee, have a look at their site.  They’ve also got a list of retailers in Europe and beyond should you be unable to resist this (un-resistable) temptation.

"Petits Parisiens cubes nursery garland""stars garland for baby nursery"Recently, I’ve been finding so many beautiful baby garlands to adorn your nursery with.  So I thought I would start sharing with these 2.  They are garlands that can be hung on the cot, or can be a pram toy or can be tied to the car seat to entertain your baby wherever she goes.  I love the simple cloud, moon and star shapes in the soft purple and white.  And the cubes one is no less beautiful.  It’s little touches like these that add bags of style and charm to a baby space.  These gorgeous baby garlands are made by Petits Parisiens and come with their own little storage pouch.  But with garlands this pretty, I can’t imagine storing them away.

"Etsy pretty little things"

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that bring the most pleasure and delight.  These are 4 little things I found on etsy that made me smile:

1.  Cute little decals for your plates and mugs.  Brighten up any of your kiddos boring white plates or cups with one of these. They’re from an Argentinian shop called Yaelfran on etsy.

2.  I love these little wooden magnets, especially the raindrop ones.  Whether you adorn a nursery wall or your own wall with these, they’ll make you smile whenever you see them.  They’re from a shop called Snug Studio.

3.  A hand made mobile made of mobile homes… a tepee, igloo, adobe, airstream and a yurt.  So simple, so charming.  Head to Jikits etsy store to find it.

4. Last is this adorable little hedgehog soft toy with a bright red nose.  He’s the perfect little companion for a little person in their pram, cot or just to hug.  This cutie hedgehog comes from Saracarr‘s shop
