I’m always on the hunt for inspiring interiors, both kiddy and adult ones. When I came across these pictures of Fifi Mandirac’s Parisian apartment, I was so inspired. Fifi Mandirac is a French graphic artist who creates bold, bright and beautiful paper goodies for kids. Happy, sunny and vivacious is what her style is all about; in her apartment and in her creations. I’m just loving the super bold colours which would work so well in a modern nursery or kids room. All the attention to detail is second to none. It’s the little objects, the unexpected hangings, the quirky dolls and the mixing of styles that make this space so special. Not to mention that wall by the stairs… wow!
I’ve picked out the pictures that I found inspiring for a colorful nursery or kids room, but the rest of Fifi’s apartment is no less stunning. If you want to see more head to Decor8.And if you’d like to get some of this style for your nursery, have a look at Fifi Mandirac’s online boutique full of stationery and other paper goodies.
The Frenchies have done it again. This time it’s a shop called Cocon filled with the most beautiful objects. Little things like mobiles, cloud coasters and even a handmade linen and wool beanstalk adorn the shelves of Cocon. Beautiful, delightful and charming are the best words to describe this shop. Cocon is owned by Masami Akatsuka who hand makes all the objects of desire herself. She’s a designer, a stylist and an artist who clearly has an eye for exquisite things.
I love all her products; there’s an innate beauty that radiates from all. But I especially love the little jade plants, the cloud coasters and the balloon mobile. Perfect little decorative objects that would add a touch of beautiful style to any nursery or to any part of your home. Visit Cocon to see more and do have a look at Rosemary and Emma, 2 decorative dolls with the dreamiest of outfits. Prices range from around €10 to €140 and shipping is worldwide. UK shipping costs around €8. Cocon is truly a rare diamond.
Yesterday I discovered Coordonne Kids and my heart skipped a beat. It’s a Spanish store that makes and sells children’s wallpapers and wall murals. I do have a thing for wallpapers I know, but this store is seriously special. While their current collection is very lovely, it was their new collection that had my heart fluttering. The wall coverings on offer range from dancing flamenco ladies wearing the brightest dresses to comical looking cute birdies in a variety of colours . These wallpapers for kids are just so cool especially the flamenco one. Actually I love the comical birds one too. They’re lots of fun and would make fabby feature walls.
To check out the collection head to Coordonne Kids. If you’re tempted by their wares you’ll have to contact them as there aren’t any prices on their site. While you’re there check out the adult collection too. Although I’m keener on the kids lot and I could just see the flamenco ladies adorning the walls of a very quirky but cool dining room. Spanish design just gets hotter by the day!
I am truly, madly, deeply in love with this paper bird mobile. A flock of white cardboard birds soaring in the sky being watched over by clouds is what you get. You then get to put your very own style on it. You can colour it in, paint it or my favourite idea: get bits of bright wallpaper and drape the birdies in these. And should you happen to be expecting your second kiddy, it’s the perfect little project for the older one. They can put their own stamp on their little brother or sisters nursery. Sweet! But if it’s your first baby, you get to hog the designing… I am so jealous! This bird mobile is by Bomb Design and costs €19.50 plus €10 shipping worldwide. But if you happen to be in Germany, shipping is free. Lucky you!
I often dream of making big, gorgeous impressive cakes embellished with stunning decorations. Then I wake up and remember that my cake making skills are, well… zero, nada, zilch. Today I woke up and found hope. I can buy a (fool proof) cake mix, and decorate with these oh so cute cake toppers. Just imagine a gooey, fudgey chocolate cake topped with the happy red elephant or the sunny yellow giraffe. These kids cake toppers are just so delicious looking, shame they’re not edible.
Made of wood, the cake toppers are by Bunny with a Toolbelt. A quirky store name to match the humourous goodies on offer. While cake toppers they may be, I can see endless other uses from nursery decorations to table ones. The shop also offers custom ones so you could get your kids favourite book or TV character made just for them. For mama’s living in sin, checkout the wedding cake toppers too. They might just make the man propose. Not really, but anythings worth a try right? Bunny with a Toolbelt sells her wares on Etsy and the animal cake toppers cost from $35 plus $5 shipping to the US and $10 to anywhere else.
These plywood animals by Ferm Living are just so lovely. Simple wooden silhouettes that come in pieces so you and your kiddo can put them together. Once assembled, if you want to jazz up your safari you can paint them or even stick on some bright wallpaper. Although I have to admit, I do like them as they are in all their natural glory. The plywood animals by Ferm Living come as a set of 5 and cost £39.95 plus £5.95 shipping from a store called 95% Danish. Yup, I’m also wondering about the other 5%!
It’ GIVEAWAY time and discount time… read on to find out more.
When I was close to popping pregnant it finally dawned on me that I should start shopping sharpish. One of the first things I looked for was a mobile. I schlepped my heavily pregnant body around the stores only to come home mobile-less and disappointed. I was about to give up when I went online and discovered the wonderful world of Flensted mobiles. Made on a little Danish Island by the Flensted family for nearly 60 years, these mobiles are objects of beauty. And I’ve got one of these beauties to give away to one lucky reader, thanks to the lovely peeps at a hot new store called Bebe Moda. All you have to do is leave a comment below (say hi or whatever you like but keep it nice!) before midnight on Sunday 31st July and I’ll randomly pick a winner on Tuesday 2nd August.
More about Flensted mobiles: on offer are mobiles for kids and adults. There are animals, there are shapes, there are objects and people mobiles, all different but they have one thing in common… huge style. There’s nothing fussy or frilly about them, just simple silhouettes that combine in colours so complimentary creating an absolute treat for the eyes. And to be honest, the pictures don’t do complete justice to these smile inducing beauties… when you see one for real you’ll know exactly what I mean. The hardest bit is choosing just one but luckily we’ve chosen one of the sweetest for you to win… who doesn’t like elephants after all!
Leave a comment below for your chance to win the elephant mobile pictured at the top of this post. Really, that’s all you have to do, we couldn’t have made it easier. There can of course only be one winner so the lovelies at Bebe Moda have decided to offer all my readers a special 10% discount on anything across their entire stylish store. Their virtual shelves are piled high with only the coolest toys, baby gear and nursery stuff and there are many hard to find brands on offer too so have a look around (shipping’s free to the UK too… hooray!). When I laid eyes on these beautiful and elegant creatures, my heart fluttered faster than a caffeine fueled butterfly. Their graceful form, delicate wings and oh so pretty colours make for decorations that are almost poetic. These hanging bird decorations are by London based Lush Designs, a place that excels in quirky and creative homewares.
Back to these bird decorations though, they’re made of hand printed birch-ply with card used for the delicate wings. Available in 18 colours, they have endless uses… hang from walls, light shades, windows, make a mobile, a garland, or whatever else you like. I love these for any space but especially for a nursery space. Head to Lush Designs to check them out. They cost a tenner a piece and delivery is free.

They’re sold in Lucy’s shop called Laissez Lucie Faire and while you’re there don’t miss the other treasures on offer. The cushions cost between €32 – €39 with delivery to the UK at €15, but Laissez Lucie Faire ships worldwide. So, no matter where you are, you too can get a slice of this colourful splendour in your life.
Japanese design is ridiculously cool and I’m a gargantuan fan. Today I bring you a finer than fine example of Japanese design. When I spotted these paper mobiles by Di Classe, I nearly pee’d my pants! Cool doesn’t even begin to describe the awsomeness that this is. Three different mobiles made out of jet black paper that would look amazing in a cool white nursery. Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of paper cutting but given a modern twist, what a unique design statement these would make. On offer are a birdcage complete with a little birdy, a frame and a rose wreath. Hang all 3 together and watch your bambino get mesmerised… after all newborns do see black and white first. Head to Bouf where these mobiles cost £12 plus delivery at £2. You’ll have to be patient as they come all the way from Japan but it’s so worth the wait.
