cactus wallapper

Have you noticed the cool cactus home decor trend?  I don’t mean just the actual cactus plants, although they are pretty amazing too and a great option, if like me, you aren’t green fingered.  For now I mean the cool cactus prints popping up for all kinds of home decor stuff.  The almost sculptural shape of cacti lends itself so well to all kinds of things for the home.  When I finish decorating my home, I know I’m going to be adding a few cactus home decor touches and definitely some real cactus which make stylish indoor plants.

how to make worry dolls for kids

Do you know what worry dolls are?  I hadn’t heard of them until a few weeks ago when Anya came home from school insisting that she needed a worry doll.  I googled it and found out that worry dolls come from Guatemala and that they are tiny dolls that fit comfortably in the palm of a child’s hand. These tiny dolls are made to take away a child’s worries.  Whenever your child has a worry, they can take the worry doll to bed with them, tell the doll their worry and place the doll under their pillow.  The next morning the worries are gone because they have been taken away by the doll.  Worry dolls are especially for kids but adults can use them too. I loved the idea so much – what a sweet and simple way to help your child with their worries.

roasted cauliflower and garlic soup

Soup is so delicious at any time of the year and is such a great option for when you want to shift a few pounds (like I am trying to do at the moment).   I can’t ever do diets that need separate meals to be made as realistically I’m not going to make myself a meal and then a separate one for my family.  So soup is my answer.  It’s a healthy and filling meal for all and everyone else can have some bread with it but I just stick to the soup.

I’ve recently become addicted to roasted cauliflower and have been experimenting with it so many ways. Last week I decided to try out a roasted cauliflower and garlic soup.  I wanted to add a bit of a twist to the soup so I decided to add some smoked cheese to give it a subtle smoky flavour.  Here’s my recipe:

Copenhagen with kids

We recently visited Copenhagen and found that it is a really kid-friendly city.  It’s also one of the cleanest cities I’ve been to.    As it is just a 1.5 hour flight away from London, I’m not really sure why I haven’t been before.  It’s a small enough city to explore on foot or on a cycle, if you want to do it the Danish way.  We chose to walk as you always get a great feel of a city when you do this.  We didn’t stick to doing just kids things but mixed it up and decided to do kiddy things as well as things we would enjoy but with kids in tow, if that makes sense. Here’s what we loved and would recommend if you visit Copenhagen with kids:

Today I’m starting a new series on some fun home decorating ideas to steal.  As I find them, I’ll share one great decor tip or idea that will add style to your home while also being practical and usually easy to do.   Most of all the ideas will all be simple, fun and clever.  And always a little unexpected!

ebabee style steal for kids room

There are many ways of adding a little bit of magic to a child’s room.  One of the best ways I’ve seen has to be this genius idea for a kids room.  Simply make a smaller door within the larger door.   Instantly, your child’s entire room will feel like their special secret hideout and which kid wouldn’t love that?   This idea is truly an example of really thinking outside the box and coming up with something so fun.  What do you think?  Do you love it?

teaching art to children

I bought The School of Art last December for Anya as she is interested in creating.  She recently picked it up which is what reminded me of what a great book this is.  Since she’s picked it up, she hasn’t been able to put it down.  If you’re interested in a tool for teaching art to children or you just have kids who love art, I haven’t come across anything better than this book.

easy pasta pesto spinach recipe

At the moment I am so in to one pot meals especially during the week.  Because of other stuff happening in life, I have less time to cook.  But I still like a delicious family meal at the end of the day.  So one pot meals are the answer for me.  Pasta is one the best one pot meals because it lends itself to so many flavours and ingredients. This is one of my favourite easy, quick and yummy mid-week pasta dishes that my entire family enjoys (fussy kid included) and I don’t spend hours slaving or prepping over.

wallpapers for kids rooms

One of the easiest ways to refresh a room is to add some wallpaper either as a feature wall or even wallpaper the entire room.  It’s usually not expensive to do and can change the look of a room in a few hours.   I’m a big fan of wallpaper for any room but especially for a kids room.  I usually prefer to stay away from anything too bright, colourful or themed as you want the wallpaper to grow with your kids.   One of the best ways to ensure this is to go for a playful yet subtle print in black and white or natural tones.  These kinds of wallpapers will stand the test of time often from babyhood to much, much older.

When planning a kids room, I always recommend choosing stuff that will grow with your child.  I’ve previously written some tips on how to design a room your kids won’t outgrow but today I wanted to share some of the cutest black and white wallpapers for a kids room that will stand the test of time.  These wallpapers are all stylish, playful and fun and they can be combined with any colour decor.  They’re all just as perfect for a nursery as they are for a 7 or 8 year olds room and everyone in between.  Here they are:

cute pillows for bedroom

I don’t think a home can ever have too many cushions.  I’m a huge fan of cushions for bedrooms, living rooms and of course kids rooms.  The more, the better.  I went looking for some playful animal pillows/cushions that double up as cuddly toys too.  So when they’re not decorating your home, they can be played with.

This collection of kids animal pillows are all so cute and stylish too, so while they’re ideal for a kids room, it would be fun to have one or two dotted around the living room to add a playful touch.  I’m loving that quirky winking cat for my living room!

Here’s where you can find these animal pillows:

unusual ways to display flowers

I am more than a little obsessed with fresh flowers as they always brighten my day, no matter what.  I like to think of them as my happy makers.  At this time of year, fresh flowers are in abundance so I love to treat myself to a bunch as often as I can.  Many times it’s just a few daffodils or a single stem, other times it’s a full bouquet.  When I get my flowers, I’m always thinking about different ways to display them.  Just sticking them in a vase is fine sometimes but other times I like to play around with different displays.  Here are 3 of my current favourite slightly more unusual ways to display flowers:
