Autumn is officially here. I’m not a fan of the sudden change from long sunny days to chilly dark evenings and it always takes me a couple of weeks to adjust. So to brighten my mood I wanted to share something colourful and vibrant today and found these pretty floral duvet covers and cute cushions.
I’m loving the bright colors of the duvets and the playful designs of the cushions. My favourite is that bow print cushion with the little pink bow detail on it. All of it is very girly and sweet and perfect for cheering anybody up on this dull, grey day. You’ll find these kids duvet sets and cushions at File dans ta chambre.

Pretty little feet…
September 6, 2013
Are you a bag lady or a shoe lady? I’m firmly in the shoe camp, maybe even a little bit obsessed with shoes. And now having a child, this obsession is trickling in to kids shoes too. Not good. But then it’s hard to resist when I find shoes like these Zuzii ones. Their baby shoes are the cutest and their sandals are so beautiful, I wish they made adult sizes too.
I love the simplicity of the sandals with their natural leather and unfussy looks. And of all the soft suede baby shoes, I think the pink polka dotted ones are just adorable. They also make cool oxfords for boys, some in plain colours while others have stripes or polka dots. Discovering kids shoes like these ones by Zuzii does nothing but make me want to buy even more shoes!
Have a lovely weekend!
mama & baby…
September 5, 2013
I clearly remember the day that I got my first pair of converse shoes as a teenager. I seriously thought I was the coolest kid on the block. They were bright pink (of course!) with high-tops and I don’t think I ever took them off. All my friends had them and I really felt that I had arrived! Looking back, I think the bright pink was way over the top but I was 13 or 14 and clearly not as cool as I thought I was! Even though I’m not much of a trainers kind of gal anymore, I still love these cool shoes but these days I’m much more in to the muted colours and I especially love the simple black ones because they go with everything and look pretty stylish too. Not long ago I also bought a mini red pair for my daughter who wasn’t as keen on these shoes as me until she saw the glitter ones and is now hankering for a pair of those. I have to admit I am partial to the gold ones and am tempted to get a pair for her and me. A little bit of sparkle for the coming winter months seems like a good idea to me.
So this week with these shoes in mind, I thought I would have a bit of fun with the mama & baby post… let mama sport these cool and classic trainers while baby plays with those DIY converse wearing hens! Aren’t they so quirky-cute?

Out of Africa…
September 3, 2013
This new kids bedding collection by Mini Empire is nice… very nice! The predominantly black and white Africa inspired animal theme is playful and stylish. I’m especially loving that little round elephant cushion.
In addition to duvet sets and cushions, there are some lovely baby blankets too like this African animals one. I’m already a big fan of Swedish Mini Empire and I love that they’ve taken their striking prints and turned them in to wonderful kids bedding. The bedding collection will be available from October 2013.
Tiny cottons…
September 2, 2013
This is a new brand called Tiny Cottons from Barcelona and that’s exactly what they make… beautiful pima cotton clothes in tiny little sizes. It’s these polka dotted onesies and bodies that grabbed me but they also have other super cute prints like a dog print and a hooray print. Everything they do is simple but stylish and of course very comfy for babies. I love that neon orange polka dot bodysuit so much that I (almost) wish I had a tiny baby to put in it!
You pretty little thing…
August 30, 2013
I’ve been in love with these handmade dolls by Evangelione for some time now. When I saw this new doll exhibition called ‘You pretty little thing’, my fascination of these extraordinary beings just grew. The name of the exhibition is perfect for the little creatures who are so life-like, it’s truly quite amazing. I love the way Yeo Mei Ying, the creator has shown the dolls playing different games like hop-scotch and blind mans buff and that hair on those dolls… I mean wow! I also love the personality that comes through each doll like that red top wearing doll expressing her impatience and boredom through crossed arms. This exhibition was in Malaysia so not exactly next door but if you are after any of these handmade dolls, you can find a list of stockists on Evangelione and to see lots more of this delightful exhibition visit Yeo Mei’s flickr.
Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to all the kiddies starting school for the first time ever next week!

Hats & hoodies…
August 28, 2013
I have yet to meet a kid who is crazy about wearing a hat but these new ones by Oeuf NYC may be just the ticket. Part of their Autumn Winter 2013 collection, these hats and hoddies are so fun. Many are animal inspired but there are also other quirky ones like the yoda hat which is definitely a favourite of mine. All the hats and hoodies are great for adding a little bit of joy to everyday winter wear and I’m sure any kid will agree.
Oeuf NYC have a knack for creating playful yet wearable pieces that have just the right amount of cuteness. There’s lots to love about Oeuf’s new Autumn Winter 2013 collection but for me, it’s the hats and hoodies that steal the show this season.
A vintage workspace…
August 27, 2013
Next week is going to be a big week in this house as my daughter Anya starts school for the first time ever. She’s very excited by the idea of going to ‘big’ school and I am also very excited for her. But my excitement is tinged with a bit of apprehension as I feel she’s only 4 and how will she manage in big school. Of course I know she will as they all do but still the first day is going to be a huge bitter sweet moment for me. With all this talk about school I started thinking about school desks. Anya probably doesn’t need a desk yet but I found some inspiring vintage kids workspaces on pinterest that I wanted to share. I think having a vintage desk and chair adds a lot of charm and character and I’d definitely go for vintage over modern when I create a desk area for Anya. If you’re looking to set up a little workspace for your kiddo then these spaces will hopefully inspire you. My favourite is the first one but I also love the vintage desk that has been adorned with white polka dots.
